I bought a mixed cd from a thrift store, not knowing what was on it. This song comes on...and I replayed it 4 times, crying. This song came out when I was in 7th grade. 17 years ago, you think I would grow, but I am still stuck with the same demons. I can never say how I feel. I pretended for years that all was well in my relationship. But only I knew that I wasn't truly loved. Truly, no one knew this but me. It was painful and heartbreaking. Finally I came to my senses and now I know what it's like to be loved for myself and to again love completely. This time the right person came along and now I am truly happy.
When I was in basic training, myself and a few guys would sing in the shower bay (due to PERFECT acoustics!) on Sundays while cleaning and we sang this song. Got so into it that we didn't notice one of Drill Sergeants standing in the doorway listening. We didn't know what to do so we just kept singing and he took off his cover and joined in for the final verse. Remember it like it was yesterday, good times.....
