We took Indie for her first walk at Pineta Le Tore above Colli Fontanelle. We ate at La Stelluccia on via Nastro Azzurro and then drove up to Chiesa San Costanzo above the village of Termini.

Where do I start? The walks with Indy and Holly are refreshing and the scenery is spectacular! I laughed out loud when Carlo was talking about his “pasta with boobs”! He is so sweet and helpful with the dogs. I am so, so sad about Lilly. She is in good hands and I know in my heart you will make sure she is comfortable and is feeling your love for her! The drone footage is fabulous as usual and is so relaxing. The only thing I could wish for is that you make more videos!

I have been watching your videos for a couple of years now and it never ceases to amaze me how much you have to walk uphill (and downhill of course)! You two must be in great shape for sure. And good to see Indie meeting other pooches and off the leash once in a while. Sorry about Lily but I know she has had a great life with you guys and will continue to do so. Hello Nikki, Carlo, Holly, Indie and Sweet Lily! I have been watching many of your videos after a rather trying week here at home in the US. They were very beautiful and soothing, although it was very sad hearing of Lily's news. I've seen many beautiful shots of her snoozing away blissfully on the porch of your idyllic home, though, and it is good to know that she will live out her days knowing she is so loved and in that lovely place. Indie is a breath of fresh air with all her puppy ways, and Holly is certainly being a patient older sister to her. (Sometimes, though, I suspect Holly might be rolling her eyes a bit when Indie goes into spastic puppy mode.) Thank you both for putting in the efforts to make your videos informative, entertaining and beautiful. They've provided much needed escape for those of us unable to get away just now. I also love the blend of English and Italian, as that way I know what's goIng on, but I am learning a bit more Italian from Carlo. Grazie mille!

If I were to go up all those steps I would’ve out of breath after 20 steps. It would take me forever. You are in amazing shape to be able to do all that walking and hiking. Thanks for sharing!

Recommended age for a puppy to do steps . Small pups 12 weeks but border collie size its 16 weeks . This is due to the danger of hip dysplasia at a younger age. However 500 steps is a lot so maybe 20 weeks or just take it a bit at a time if possible. I'm sure you will be careful as you always seem to act with caution . Obviously use the lead to slow her down to a sensible pace at first. Another excellent film as always

i can see my memory must be playing tricks on me. I was sure it was a 1 year for border collie size and up. But it is 32 or so years since i stoppede as a nurse at the local vet (is it called nurse in English?) So I am not surprised something has slipped. I blame it on age 😂

They can start learning stairs between 3 and 6 months, depending on size. But they shouldn’t be given free range of stairs until they’re fully adult size, probably more like 12-14 months.

Yes, with my Border Collie I waited about a year. To be fair, I didn't have 500 steps in front of my house. But as far as I know it is to allow closure of all the growth plates in their bones, the last of which occur the latest at 12 months. As well as mitigating the risk of hip dysplasia.

@@Temptation666 Hi Nordly I'm no expert at all Its been a long time since we had pups but information changes Obviously a pup has to be slowed down as it will race around with all that energy . Guide dogs for instance are training from a very young age but obviously you have to accept they are still developing for maybe 18 months to 2 years before adulthood . 500 steps is a lot and Nicky probably uses them almost daily . 1 year is a long time to wait .

The girls gift of a painted hammer is wonderful. I love the music and dancing on the beach. The location of the yoga retreat is fantastic!!!! Definitely worth the mountain climbing to get there! 16 years ago I got a seasonal job in Amalfi and although work was consuming most of my time , in few occasions I had the chance to visit few places including Positano. It's been my dream to go back at some point (didn't happened yet) and why not live there one day. I live now in UK, few miles away from Doodle Door and I love it, but I keep dreaming about Amalfi coast, pasta, pizza, fresh fish, fruit and vegetables, loud voices in the morning. We had a retriever and our vet told us that we had to keep him away from steps until he was 4 or 5 months old. We didn't have 500 steps to our house, more like 50 but a 5 month old retriever is a bit of a weight! My understanding is that certain breeds who have a propensity to hip dysplasia should not use steps/stairs as small puppies otherwise it's just a case of whether or not a puppy is stable enough. Your pup looks as if she'd be more than willing to give it a go! It's lovely to see the relationship between her and Hollie.

Indie is growing fast! Soon her ears will perk right up. One of my girls got perky ears, the other's stayed floppy. They're working dogs, too. Yes, everyone is suddenly being conscious about over-working puppies with too many steps or long hikes (I saw a young man with his new puppy on another channel putting his little guy into his backpack so as not to overwork him). Glad the vets are letting people know about this (I had no idea!)

I thoroughly enjoyed this vlog. Thank u for taking time to give us such pleasure. In mid Canada our city experienced drought conditions whereby we had to watch water consumption. After several winters of little snow, summer 2021 little rain finally 2022 was a snowy winter. This spring our water supply at lake is ready to spill over dam. Yippee! I love when you walk up stairs and talk. It gives your videos great energy. My aunt used to do the same. Be very careful with Avocado trees. They grow huge and will take all of your sunlight. My neighbors all have them and I hate them. And they don’t even harvest the avocados. I don’t know how long till they fruit, but it’s not worth it. Maybe you can plant it on someone else’s land and share the fruits.

Sweet! Beautiful once again. So very sorry about Lilly. Was nice to see Indie off leash and seemingly doing really well with it, not running down mountainsides or anything equally worrying. She and Holly are so adorable and play well together - I've been there this time of year and there were so few people there, seems there are more now than in March in the past? And, ferries were not running to Capri or anywhere along the coast in March when I've been there - That would have made those March visits even more fun and enjoyable than they already were.

I did enjoy you & Carlo taking me on yoga, hiking trips. It certainly takes my mind off of getting older back pain. So lovely to see the happy dogs. I’m sorry there cannot be anything done for kitty but the pain medication should help her. I look forward to next week’s mystery tour. So nice things are getting back to normal for you.

I love the views. The girls are so beautiful. Indie is getting so big. I puppies started climbing steps at 16 weeks with no problem. They had to stop every once and awhile for a breath and maybe some water after allot of steps. They get thirsty and hungry more often as you know. Carlo the drone footage was amazing for sure.
