The old fujitaka picture not being bald is indeed weird since it makes so much more sense for him to be bald because 1. The original pick u shown 2. He joined priesthood when he retired and taken the yusai name which makes bald very possible
This is a wonderful video series! Its surprising to see what sources the NA team as likely used to inspire the portraits in game. However if I'm not mistaken, the NA art you attributed to Nagamasu isn't him, but rather Tsutsui Junkei, although your point about the image would also apply to Junkei's historical portrait too, haha. Also in regards to Fujitaka, his hairstyle there is potentially a reference to Hyouge Mono, a manga about the Sengoku period from the perspective of Furuta Oribe, in which Fujitaka looks much like that portrait before taking the tonsure.
Yeah, I made a mistake with Nagamasu and Junkei, I only realize that way later when I finished researching the major clans lol. When I finish the series, I probably compile them all into one big video and fix that mistakes (and other ones too) Also, thank you for mentioning Hyouge Mono. I've heard of the manga but haven't read it yet so I didn't know the portrait could have been a reference to it.
I can't blame you for the mistake, the Tsutsui were hardly notable when compared to the Oda. And no problem! Its a fantastic series, filled with historical references (even if it adds its own embellishments), and provides a unique perspective into the periods politics and conflicts. Looking back, Fujitaka's hair might just be coincidence, but I've not seen any other media portray him looking like this, certainly as his initial sol and shinsei portraits went for a much more generic look.
