That’s just how those Lipo batteries are. The RC drone/plane/helicopter guys push their Lipos harder than just about anything else in terms of Lithium Ion applications. Except these jump starters and Lipo packs used for spot welding which is very similar to jump starting, a short burst of everything the pack will give. The RC guys often find their packs are useless for flying after 100 or so cycles, sometimes less. Then they get relegated to ground power. So if you’re only getting 50 true charge and discharge cycles then…honestly I’m not surprised. Especially if the vast majority of those discharges are from jumping BIG trucks that will suck every bit of life out of the pack in terms of amperage. It would be nice if these companies would be more upfront about the cycle life. We really don’t have handheld jump starters capable of jumping big trucks like the smaller jump starters can jump sedans 200+ times. They’re just letting you beat the shit out of the highest discharge Lipo on the market. Another thing they don’t explain in the manual. Lipos kept at a full state of charge degrade significantly faster than those left at 50% when there is no planned usage in the next few days. That’s why they get shipped partially charged. That and to reduce the risk of fires (there will still be one if shit happens but it’s just trying to limit the energy available.) So there’s your lithium ion lesson from a battery nerd. Keep your Lipo based jump starter at 75% for a longer life while still having a workable amount of charge at a moments notice.
Pretty sure once the engine starts it's running off the alternator. All the battery does is charge the glow plugs if it's diesel and initiate the starter. After that the alternator takes over.
Can you run the car on NOCO Jump Box without a battery for longer than 60 seconds (until it is empty), and what is the longest time you could do it with the NOCO Jump Box (if the alternator is not working, so you could drive the car to the shop if it is close)
On a GBX55 can you clip the alligator clamps of an air compressor to the GBX55 alligator clamps to run an air compressor. Portable like a 2780 or 2781 Smitty built compressor?
