You need to connect it directly to the battery terminals. This thing starts 13L Navistar diesel engine on completely dead batteries. Just saying.

I don't get it either, why doesn't the noco test show at least 12v? I like the SP showing 13+ volt. Will make the starter turn faster. Edit : I didn't notice at first, but the channel sells the SP brand. I'm pretty sure they sabotaged the noco jump packs. No other reason they should show less than 12v when idle.

I agree, Why when the Noco 70 or 150 only showed 9v approx they output over 12v at least mine does and the fact he pressed the Boost button when the lights where chasing has me suspecting he isn't the best prepared to test them.

My GB150 cranked my 6.5 Detroit with higher compression than that duramax, on completely dead batteries. Batteries so dead that the door locks wouldn’t even click. If I cranked right away, it cranked on the slower side, but if I let it sit on the batteries for a little bit, then cranked, it cranked over pretty well. Then again, I also hooked it up to the battery that had the cable that went right to the starter. So I don’t know what you’re doing wrong there, but the GB150 worked just fine for me. Maybe because the Duramax has more electronics to power up? Not sure. But the higher compression of the 6.5 should compensate for that extra load there…

Starter on the truck is designed for 12 volts. If you hook up a fully charged 10 volt battery it still won’t crank. The starter needs both amperage and voltage.

Check if that GB170 states 12.5v when not connected to anything and only turned on and the boost button activiated, should say 12v astleast not 10v no wonder it wouldnt start, I think it was losing voltage not being hooked directly to battery or somthing else.

For real. It only showed 10v on the meter when he hooked it up. Looks like they used a discharged noco to compare to their product.

Note with the first jump starter up to 4 mins of your video, how the battery went up to 10 V in no time. If you just waited another minute it'll probably reach the 12.6 or .7 V. needed to crank. Note, again, up to 8.27 mins, battery read 10 V, you will not jump a vehicle at 10 V. You have to wait until it reads 12.6, or .7V. Evidently the SP Tools Jumper ate the NOCO's, sorry NOCO but, SP Tools jump starter ate your jump starters! Where were the 4000Amps of the NOCO, can you measure it the NOCO was inputting 4000A?

@@SPTOOLSUSA Thank you! I'm still shocked the 4K+Amps didn't jump the truck. That truck needs 2000+ Amps I really feel those NOCO jumpers weren't providing 3000 Amps. If you still can, get a multimeter and measure the amps of the clamps at jumping, and see how much amps do they provide at jumping.

I took note of how you could hear the audible "clicking" sound, which I'm assuming was what they were using to discharge the battery, but it is no longer audible when he tried the SP one.

Totally agree i bought a gb70 for my ram 1500 for a boost on minus 40 it didn't work its a joke and its very expensive

This test is very realistic in that these Nocos are greatly over rated and I can also add since I am one of many technicians that repairs a great many of these Nocos that they also have a pretty horrendous failure rate despite what all the paid for endorsements claim by a great many so called impartial reviewers. Good review, we need much more of these real reviews and not all the phony paid for ones. In regards to the absolutely ridiculous current outputs of the Nocos, there are several fairly accurate capacity tests done on all of these and although I cant remember of hand what the exact numbers were, the results werent anything even remotely close to what Noco as well as several others claim. We live in a time where any company that makes practically anything can just pick whatever specs they think sounds good enough to sell a product and they just slap those numbers on the box and product since there really doesnt seem to be any punishment for exaggerating or flat out lying about the specs of any given product and this seems to apply to practically everything to at least some degree.

Email to NOCO: Our company is looking at potentially investing a lot of money in some of your products but we need to be reassured about a few things before we can make these purchases. trust in your product is quite low right now as Noco lied about having 20,000 amps to sell their product. before when the gb500 was rated at 20,000 amps it was more than 5 times stronger than your GB 150 so now it is only double the strength? :( Can you please confirm that 2 of your $300 GB 150s are now equal in strength to your $1800 Gb 500 plus? NOCO: Checking with our tech team, 2 GB150s don't equal the power of the GB500. If you are just slightly larger than the 7L diesel or 9L gas, 2 should work, but a semi truck will still need the GB500. Please let us know if you have any additional questions. We revised our peak amp rating due to a change in the testing standards developed in a partnership with UL. However, the new 6250A GB500 is significantly more powerful than any previous versions. A peak amp rating is a measurement taken in a lab setting and only sustained for a fraction of a second. The newer models of the GB500, with a peak amp rating of 6250A, are able to sustain a higher power output for a longer period of time which is needed in a real-world setting for starting a vehicle.

This is such an unfair comparison as the guy need to connect it to the battery and not to the side of the engine. This is not the right way to jump start the car.

It’s not an unfair comparison if it’s done the same exact way for each unit. You might claim that it’s a poor jumping technique, but even if it is it’s still a totally equal comparison with all three jumpers utilizing the same poor technique.

@@joebuck4496 true if the negative connection to the engine ground is made consistently in all cases. If it's an oxidized surface it introduces a great deal of variability to the test that could invalidate the comparison.

Hi Rudy, neither of these Jump packs will. These are 12v systems. Most 18 Wheelers require a 24 volts.

Yes it will there are a few Videos of the GB150 starting Semi's here on youtube, Take no notice of this test because it is being done wrong, as someone else stated the Noco should be allowed to go through it's correct starting process not use it like jumping it from a spare battery, The GB150 will start 99% of vehicles unless you need it's big brother 24v model and that thing is a beast.

I used a 150 and a 70 to start a semi the other morning. Neither alone would do the job. The semi I started had 4 batteries.

@@SPTOOLSUSAThat is incorrect. As a semi truck mechanic, I can guarantee you 90% of semi trucks are and always have been 12v systems with 4 batteries connected in parallel. Most big rigs that are wired up as 24v systems are either military vehicles, or some large busses. Other than that, almost all semi trucks are wired up as 12v systems.

OMG Just get a Clore ES5000. No meters, no ON/OFF switch to go bad, NO boost button to go bad no frills. They last 10 years plus can replace the batter, heavier duty clamps and longer than NOCO. Just better in every way but size and weight. 20 pounds vs 7 pounds for NOCO 150. Oh 1/2 the price of Noco too. The reason you never see noco compared because they are not better and cost 2x more. ANd they wont last 10 years and you cant replace the battery. Oh bonus is no Lithium fire hazard with the CLORE ES5000 either

If it uses higher voltage to achieve the higher start current it might be, otherwise the only problem might be that it allows a car in poor maintenance to be cranked futilely for longer periods, possibly burning out the starter motor.

NOCO is extremely dishonest about their amp ratings..youtubers have tajen them apart and seen the tiny battery inside and also tested current with a clamp meter which is greatly exaggerated e.g GB40 which is supposed to be 1000A only puts out ~200A when shorted for a sec or 2.The GB40 had 2ah 120c battery and GB150 has 8ah 120c battery so only capable of 960A not 4000A.
