Thank you for hitting all the points. A review I watched before finding yours barley scratched the surface. I appreciate your expertise and subbed to your channel.
I wish you covered whether the USB charging is 1 or 2 amps. Makes a big diff in charge time for phones. I'm sure it's on the spec sheet and I can look it up, but I wanted to point this out as something you may want to include in the Future. Anyways, this is a cool device and seems indispensable. I can't believe I was unaware of it. This woulda saved me so much trouble on a few occasions. I also love the fact it has a flashlight and it strobes as well as the ability to be a charging station of electronics. Having this on a motorcycle camping trip or something would allow you to perhaps leave a phone charging station at home. I wonder how it compares in that capacity, like how much does it drain the booster to fully charge a phone
How long will it be able to jump start a car after the initial charge? How fast does it discharge by itself? Would it be a good idea to keep it hooked up within your vehicle? Does it have a mechanism which prevents it from constantly charging in such a situation? This product and others similar to this raise a lot of questions...
Hi there, I left the NOCO GB20 500A connected and turned on from the night until the morning of the next day, and I used the timer around 13 hours and 54 minutes, the NOCO GB20 still had this charge, the battery in my car was discharged but not much, the NoCo helped to maintain some charge in the car battery, by pressing I held the button to use it manually and the car battery had more than 4v of charge, so the Noco quickly recognized the battery and started my car the first time, which the day before the car battery was completely dead less than 2v the NOCO did not recognize my car battery, I assumed it works to leave the NOCO connected to the car battery to maintain enough charge, then turn the NOCO off and on again and I put it in manual mode and it began to charge the car battery to start the car, and it started on the first try, it is a long text but it will help you, My Car Honda civic 2009 LX 1.8L 4c.
It’s my understanding that this model is meant for a 4.0L engine. Basically a V6. Which to me isn’t a small vehicle in today’s standards. So I would guess this isn’t just meant for small cars and ATVs.
Not all engines of the same size require the same amount of power to start. This version can start up to 4.0L engines depending on how much power is required. I'm sure there are many 4.0L engines that this version won't be able to start.
I purchased one at half price on a clearance aisle. I'm concerned I may get less life out of it if it was in the store a long time. It is rated up to 4.0L engines. Have used it to start a 4.0L Nissan Xterra and 5.9L Dodge truck.
I've had one for a couple of years. Tested it when I got it, kept it in the trunk and occasionally charged it to full. Pulled it out today to start a 4-cylinder car I haven't started for a few weeks. I noticed the case was split open on one end so I tried to just tighten the screws since they were loose. Screws have an unusual triangle head. Anyway, they wouldn't tighten so removed all of them to find out that the lithium battery itself had swelled. That was why the case was split and the screw mounts were broken. Maybe it was the heat but if I can't keep it in the car what good is it?
You shouldn't keep lihtium-accumulators in the car. It get's either way to hot on a sunny day with temperatures above 60°C, maybe even 70°C in the car or it could get way to cold.
Won't matter anyway this thing is junk and doesn't have enough power to jump a fully dead battery. I actually wasted money on one of these and its failed me every time I needed to jump something.
Thank you..I just bought one yesterday..I have a 4cylinder Toyota Corolla..I bought a GB20 12V 500A..does anyone know if it will start this car?..thank you for your response.. otherwise I do like this device, it's compact, multi use.. convenient, waterproof.. awesome..but will it start my car?
is there a reason to place the negative cable on the engine vs the negative post on the battery? I've seen people do this before and wondered why. I've jumped a ton of cars and always connected the negative to the negative post. same when charging the battery.
+Kimo Kalihi To prevent a possible spark near the vents on the battery caps as the connection is made (if its not a sealed battery). A battery can vent hydrogen gas which is highly explosive.
+GigaDonk makes sense on someone else's car. On my cars the grounds have all been upgraded and have basically no resistance. Thanks for the reply. Hadn't thought of that.
+Kimo Kalihi the reason why you should not hook up directly to the negative terminal is because you can get a spark when you connect the jumper cables and if the battery has released any flammable fumes they will combust. Now 99% of the time I jump start I always connect right to the negative battery terminal and I have never had a problem.
Hey man, great video - thank you so much for taking the time and sharing the insight. Quick question - is it okay to just store the battery in your trunk? A bit concerned about hot summer temperatures (reaches out 95 in the Summer months in New York where I live), and just wondering if you thought it'd explode or catch fire? Want to make sure it's ok to store somewhere in the car (trunk) for emergency use. Thanks again - really appreciate it!
Manual states the maximum storage temperature is 50 celcius, about 120 farenheight. I got one this winter, I guess I'll have to leave it out of the car in the summer.
I have owned this unit for a little over two years. I purchased it to keep at the cottage to boost the boat battery if required. I have never had to use it. It was charged twice without issues. Recently I attempted to charge the unit, it would not go beyond 25%. I tried another charging cable without any luck. Owned for two years, never used, $100.+ wasted. Do not buy this unit!
I have one as well, its junk I've never been able to jump a car with it and always had to use a pair of jumper cables or the 110v charger. Total waste of money. Don't even know why I'm still keeping it charged.
I'm actually a bit concerned about the usb output i have this battery bank that's 20,000 mah and i left it charging i came back after 4 hours and the noco gb 20 was out of battery i was like wth 😔
Is this not a good device for recharging cell phone type devices multiple times? I have power banks that hold maybe 5-6 charges... I was hoping this would have more..
would you be able to use the GB20 as a temporary power source to power the lights on a dead ATV battery during winter for about 30 mins? So after jumping the dead battery, you would leave the GB connected, would this work fine or not?
Its too too weak for practical use. This unit is a waste of your money. Buy a 2000 amp instead of a 400 peak. Its only 200 cold cranking amps and car batteries are 500-600 so it won't work for shit
Expecting one of these to start my car , if there Is no donor vehicle around and the lights have mistakenly been left on ! It looks a good thing, but hey tip for tip and thanks for yours The Gospel ( Good News in Greek ) Message in just four lines 1 Corinthians Chapter 15 is a an Eternal Life saver ( if you believe it in your head and heart and In Jesus precious sinless blood which was shed to cover our myriad sins) 1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye ARE SAVED, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, UNLESS ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: ~~~ Emphasis CAPS are mine God bless you I think your review will help many
