Noctua NH-D15 Silent Tower Heatsink 

The colour scheme separates the dedication from the bandwagoning.

Have this since launch, and just received a free mounting kit for the 12900k from Noctua. It cools this hot CPU without problem, even under sustained loads of around 220 watts. Have an NH-D14 in another, much older system. Still with the original fans, and cooling a 9900k. You buy these once, and then they may well outlive you. Such is the quality.

Props to Noctua for keeping the naming scheme and incrementing by one. Too many companies would have completely changed the name, leaving you confused at which one is supposed to come after the other.

These colours are absoultely amazing. These have always been and will always be the prettiest fans out there.

Their fans are awesome. So quiet, which is ideal... especially for game recording setups. But the colour scheme, holy shit they really need to work on that. Reminds me of my 1996 BEIGE BEAST!

Yeah I know they look pretty bad, but I still think I am gonna get them when I build my system, cus I care about performance I care about silence I care about durability and I care about my system's well being.

I'm a air cooling type guy so glad to hear that it performs fantastically, as per usual with Noctua products. I've had my NH D14 for a while now (3 years) and it's still running like a champ.

Am I literally the only person in the entire god damn world who doesn't give a shit about the looks of components inside my case? Everyone seems to be saying "It's good and I would get it but it looks ugly and bulky and shit so no". Maybe I'm the only one not looking inside my case daily. Also, what's so bad about the looks of that thing? I think it looks pretty cool to be honest.

Wow - I know this is an old video, but... I just replaced my 3 year old liquid CPU cooler (240mm radiator with two 120mm fans), out of fears that it would leak and wreck my i7-5820k system (6 cores/12 threads, 140w TDP) as my last system was lost, with an NH-D15 - and was most surprised that it cools significantly better than the liquid cooler did! In my roughly 22C room, the average CPU temperature under a nominal 20% CPU load is about 5C cooler (35C to 40C), but the max temperature under a 100% CPU load on all 6 cores for over an hour (48C to 51C) is about 15C less than the liquid cooler could provide (65C). I did use "Thermal Grizzly" thermal paste rather than the NT-H1 paste Noctua provided after seeing tests where it performed 50% better at thermal transfer. Still, at the end of the day I'm most impressed with the NH-D15, which is quieter than the old pump was too - I should have done this years ago!

Noctua just continues to amaze! What an incredible company, they are the perfect example of quality and performance, such performance that it has its own level and look, the brown and bage is part of what sets them apart. Thank you noctua and well done.

Had this cooler on my 5950x and it almost kept it as cool as my custom loop does. I honestly dig the color scheme too, gamerbros looked at my build and laughed at the lack of rgb but were mindblown by my temps and silence.

Noctua's customer service is just terrific. No other company stands behind their products like they do.

Why did Luke's benchmarks/comments have NO mention of noise!? That's at least half the reason you'd buy a Noctua over another brand..you should really have re-tested with the default setup on the AIO coolers, or at least made some kind of comment relating to if the fin spacing on the D15 makes it A. Quieter/louder than the D14, and B. quieter/louder than the AIOs. Good review otherwise!

Just so funny to see this video so many years after release. Was here because of the new gen 2 coming out. (could be Q2 of 2024) But as soon i hear does specs a 4820K with GTX 580. I just smile. At the time most of us all wanted to try to have the best hardware. and today so many years later i do have 14900k and a 3090 TI. So nice to see a old video like this. can't wait to get the new gen 2 of NH-D15.

This is a slightly unfair comparison for noctua, they should get credit for including high quality fans in their products. And they should be compared against liquid coolers from other brands with the liquid coolers using their own fans. Since if you want to get the similar level of quietness you gotta invest extra and get noctua fans if you are going with a liquid cooler.

I have had a Noctua NH-D14 for 8 years and it has never had a problem. All it needs is a cleaning every so often and it is good.! Writing this on PC with said cooler working.

Good cooler but if you have the nh d14 you're in the legendary section. It will make a good antique. I might put it in a glass box one day after I have no use for it.

Personally i'd still go with a H100 just because i think AIO's look so much cooler.That said maybe if noctua would change their fan colors more people would want to put it in their builds :D.

Linus, you should really be testing stock for stock. Many buyers don't plan on spending an extra $40-$60 dollars on fans to get the temps you're showing here with high end SP Fans. I get that its fun to see what they can do at max potential but for the average joe buyer, I'd like to have known how the NHD15 did against a stock fan H110. Just a thought. I'd still go with liquid cooling for aesthetics since this cooler is ugly as sin, but it could probably blow away most liquid setups with stock fans.

noctua's products are superb quality, you really have to see and touch one to get it.

are there some charts to see how loud corsair (Hxxx) fans are and how loud the noctuas are in relation (lets say at 800, 1000, 1200 rpm)?

if they keep making the heatsinks bigger, the motherboard manufacturers will have to reenforce the board to avoid cracking, me personally I find it ugly, water cooling is the only logical way to go if you want improved cooling.

I ran the NH-D14 in my 8350 build and loved it. 4.89Ghz completely stable under 62c max recommended core temp and 5Ghz ran a couple degrees over (ambient room temp is hot 84-90F). 4930k @ 4.3Ghz with CM Evo 212 runs a bit hot for my taste so having it replaced with the new NH-D15 and scrapping the CM TIM for NT-H1. Hoping to hit 4.6Ghz. Thanks for the video.

I really think noctua underestimates how many sales they lose with that color scheme. Especially in the gamer market where people like to dress up their cases and show off their hardware. I know some people who would forgo a bit of performance/silence and get something else that looks better. The Noctua name is a strong enough brand on it's own now (seriously who interested in this stuff doesn't know Noctua products are awesome these days?) that they really don't need the "oh ya those are the guys with those shit ugly fans" to separate them from the pack.

Noctua really needs to give those fans a color that doesn´t resemble your grandparents´ underwear...

So I bought this based on your review, holy shit its amazing. Install was so easy, it took me 3 times longer to remove my old cooler (Seidon 120v). Its so quiet and its at least 30c cooler under load than the 120v. I'll be keeping this cooler for ages I think. Thanks for the review that lead me to buy this.

Seeing Linus' Pebble watch is giving my little nostalgic conniption fits. I loved that watch soo much! It was so functional and efficient and I only had to charge it once a week! I was so looking forward to the next model but when Pebble went under I felt what a lot of Apple users must have felt when Steve Jobs died.

why even bother tell ppl tower sinks are good? they are HUUUUGE and UGLY not to mention when it comes to cooling , water cooled is much better its kinda why in car engines they use water cooling not a MEGA-SIZED tower heatsink straped to ur engine
