Not sure if you're still having this issue, but there is a blue screw on the MAWL that allows you to set it into alt mode for Photonis tubes. That should eliminate the strobe effect
I have the same problem with one of my pvs 14s flickering when I use supplemental IR illuminator. I thought something was wrong with my tube. I bought it like 7 years ago so I don't know what tube is in it but from watching your video, it sounds like I could possibly have a photonis tube
My photonis tubes do it with external ir and not with built in ir, external ir causes flicker looking at up close stuff but not distance. External ir is to much power for these up close still love tubes!
Hey, the flickering is caused trough the better AUTO-GATING. It has more effective auto gating than other tubes. Not everybody has this problem. Its more like a problem of your eyes, thats the reason why it's just on the right side. But if you see it, you need a compatible IR light for your ultra fast AUTO-GATING tubes.
SORRY, I saw it now. This is too extreme. It's not your eyes! This tube was not meant to getting sold. You can return it. You will get a new tube from photonis. You got a defective Tube. The AUTO-GATING is out of spec.
Have you tried irising lenses to mitigate this strobing effect? I’m no expert, but maybe reducing the amount of light hitting the tube will stop the strobe.
@@LeifyGuy Interesting, thanks for sharing. I'm picking up my first NVG (Tanto) this weekend and planning to get Elbit with 32 SNR, 2386 FOM, .72 Halo, 69000 gain. Hopefully it works well. I've always heard Photonis had a lot of issues but I have no real life experience with NVG yet so good to hear from guys who have like yourself.
@@alexisdetocqueville9964 those are solid specs, if I were running a single 14 again I'd absolutely be running elbit, but for the purposes of the panobridge I think photonis is slightly better panned out
