@@sssentertainment That fatigue is a small price to pay in the pursuit of looking incredible Real talk though this was awesome, I'm no physics's expert but I'm sure just the length alone gives this thing some insane leverage and momentum you have to fight against and work around, kudos to you man
Love this ! You, sir are a true warrior ! The music is perfect for your skill ! I love th moves you make with that big bad boy ! I read that the reason it was so large was to take down enemies who were on horseback, and avoiding their swords and spears !
Much appreciated. Yes, the Nodachi was used as sweeping attacks against the horses running. Sux for the horses. :( The Nodachi was eventually phased out in favor of Naginata, since the Naginata was far more efficient to handle; the Nodachi was cumbersome. But nonetheless, cool.
I was searching for some Nodachi/Odachi demonstrations, just finding some odds but this is a good video just as I thought, also I like how you do the weapon spinning in the heavy blade weapon from 1:08
Watching Seven Samurai recently I highly suspected guy could not draw that sword and thought it was funny, thanks for the confirmation! Very amusing video. 93s
I'm guessing the odachi is the lil Nas x of this world. That's why the Great black batman smacks him for a living. Now who wants to get their legs snapped like twigs.
awesome movement! Where did you get your blade? I have a Nodachi where the handle is extra long, and the blade is slightly longer than normal, but have had some trouble finding one resembling yours.
There is little freestyle material with the Nodachi on RU-vid. I really like your swings and variations! Also made funny and authentic. Very good, thumbs up, ago taken
@@sssentertainment Legit! The 17.5 pound sword I've been training with I loaded up to 27.5 pounds. My goal is 45 pounds 1000 strikes. Couldn't practically fight with it of course with that speed and accuracy. I totally want to train tho now with a sword like yours around 10 pounds. I'd love to collab sometime if your down for it. I'm in California.
❤ 😂😂😂 I thought I was going to die laughing at the start of it! Because of anime, i'm a huge fan of japanese weapons. ❤ 😅 But I would still grab my cowboy hat and gun period
i have to say... the beginning and ending (when you unsheath and then sheath it) are kinda funny :D but seeing your skill i gotta ask... is it rly that hard to unsheath a Nodachi? or did you just do it for show?
Because of the long length of the sword, it's a bit tricky to draw the blade. Historically, whenever possible, there would be a retainer (assistant) to help unsheath the sword. To draw the sword by yourself, there are two ways to do it: 1. Fling the sheath away from the sword, letting the sheath fall to the ground; or even better, at your opponent. 2. Pull the sheath away from the sword as you pull the sword away from the sheath. Both of these methods can be applied to the katana, or any length sword, actually.
@@sssentertainment you COULD also in theory: draw it from above you by taking the saya (scabbard) and moving it above you, makes it easier to draw since you spread out your arms like you're T-Posing, or you can just quickly slide the weapon a bit from the saya and push it from the blade right under the handle, and by the time you've gotten into a stance it's already in your hand by the handle, not the blade.
