I absolutely love his videos, and this is well done, but he does it a bit differently then what we are being taught, and I do not like it as much, we do it so at each node that we are looking at, we assume current is flowing away in all directions, even though it may be obvious that it isn't right because its more important to stay consistent, and everything should work out in the end.

Rather than going through all the trouble of trying to guess the correct direction of current in a node branch, just pick one. If the current goes the other way, it'll just give you a negative value. Flip the sign, flip the arrow.

@@jealouseggs5619 i knew before hand current likes to travel through least resistance so when i saw the parralel circuit i seperate it into a series circuit and added the ohms up in series and knew the current would flow towards the smaller ohm's direction

You do not have to try and find out the direction of current. You can make up your own direction from the get go as long as you are consistent. In KVL you choose counterclockwise or clockwise for all loops and remain consistent. In KCL you choose all currents to leave a node or all currents to go into a node and you will get the right answer. Think of it like scaling an equation by a constant of -1 depending on which convention you choose. You will get the same value when solving. Trying to find the direction of every current is inefficient and will lead to errors if you are not careful. After you find the node voltages you can find any current for any given direction with simple Ohms law.This video was more standard KCL than node voltage. Node voltage is supposed to make KCL even easier by choosing one defined direction. You are less likely to miss signs doing it this way.

17:18. He added the resistors in Vc in series to find the current of the whole sub-circuit, that enabled him to find Vc. In the first sub-circuit the current is already known, so finding Vb was easier.

at 14:00, you can do it either way, if you get a negative current for R3 then that will mean it goes the other way from what you chose. Still so amazing and useful going in-depth

13:57 , I appreciate your method to decide whether Vb is greater or Vc. But I don't think we will get a wrong answer if we just assume one direction of current through BC, i.e. red or blue. If we assume the wrong direction suppose, from C to B, in writing the KCL at node B, (19:16), we will do i1-i2+i3=0, (instead of i1-i2-i3) and i3=(Vc-Vb)/5, (instead of (Vb-Vc)/5) which ultimately will adjust the sign and we will get the correct equation. Correct me if I am wrong somewhere. Thankyou!

All i can say after learning the tactics used in solving such complex circuit problem solving...Wow! Magic!.....It’s how you to analyze and what methods to be use and apply. The more I understand, the more im scared hahaha... too many “what if” now inside my head. What if one of the resistors is not given? What if the given 8 amperes is transfer to the other place, like below resistor-2, is it possible? If possible, what whould it like be or how to begin a solution? This are some of what insides my mind. Well, I think I should practice more and learn how to understand problems before i begin.

Congrats, really detailed explanation, you can skip the voltage guessing calculation for Vc and Vb, by assuming a direction, at the end, just change the sign, hope that can help.

Correct me if am wrong , I attempted it before looking at you approach(17:00), I used the understanding that current will always flow through an easier path which means current from R5 would rather take R4 path than that of R3 as R4 has less resistance than R3 so R3 most there fore be coming from 8amps.

I think it's a good way to solve it by separating the circuits so you can see the direction of current flow. For me I wondered about if any current flowed from the 50 V battery through R1 so calculated the voltage from the 8 A source after combining the R1 and R2 in series to see the voltage of the 8 A source so I could see that source was higher voltage than the 50 V battery. An approximation; I know but it helped me to see which way the current flowed.
