I watched a lot of interviews with directors who used to make music videos and practically all said the same. They're all like college film students with great aspirations and not having a fucking clue as to what they were doing. You know when anyone who was ever good with a guitar when they first started playing they were shit, right? But with practice they got better. That's what music videos are, practice. That's where a lot of people got started like David Fincher. He's not proud of his early work for MTV and Aliens 3. MTV music videos are like finger-painting for kindergarteners.

In which states would you think that such a video would suppress voter turnout? Given his Canadian heritage, does this help or harm the nationalist movement?

my take on this is not that he has now wised up and realizes he was not nearly as hip as he thought he was back then, it's that he still thinks he is so hip that he now believes he is too hip even for his own music videos.
