@@crowkid5553 far be it for me to split hairs here *cough* but your analysis of what constitutes 'pop' music is a little jaundiced. pop music is rather hard to define as it is a spectacularly broad church and if you ask someone to define to they usually reveal an their inner bias. I am being a little pedantic, granted.
@brianwilson49 I still wouldn't call them solely pop though, they have done rock before, examples being give yourself a try, its not living if its living with you and love it if we made it
Bit like when Little Mix won best band at the Brit Awards a couple of years ago against Haim, Biffy Clyro and Bicep, neither Bicep nor Little Mix should be considered bands. 1's an electronic duo and the other is a girlband.
I love anyone like that, even if i disagree. And i do disagree, his new music is shit and 1975 have better hooks coming out of their arse than this guy can write on a good day
Noel Gallaghers new music is utter tosh, just tries to copy The Beatles, its bland and boring. He is old news and is bitter because he isn't relevant like he used to be. At least 1975 are fun to listen to. Their hooks are better than his. FACTS
@@tristankerr3655Noel G has still got it. Council Skies is brilliant and his new version of Live Forever is also brilliant. Throwing out the beatles copy arguement is so backwards, Oasis sounded more like the Rolling Stones than the Beatles and new Noel G is so disconnected from the Oasis sound so how are they both just "beatles tributes" when they're so different to each other?
@@tristankerr3655 You can quite literally say that about ALL music. The Beatles have influenced every musician whether they know it or not. Even if the chord changes are similar, the entire structure and literal sound of the song is wildly different.
I just think Oasis fucking blows, can someone point me in a direction of one good song by them please and not some super mid long ass ballad with one heavy(ish) part?@@HarleyMM1328
It’s not Rock by any stretch of the imagination but I loved The 1975 (earlier work) and I loved Oasis. Both bands made me feel emotions and that’s what it’s all about. Idc about categories or labels.
To his credit, I don’t view the 1975 as rock, don’t think they are rock at all. But it’s sucks he thinks they’re shit. My two favorite bands are Oasis and the 1975 haha
Love Noel! Love oasis! Love the 1975! I'm 42, and the 1975 aren't rock. I can listen to supersonic, love it, then to robbers, and love it. It's not about being cool or bracketed. It's about loving music. I listen to a lot of music, and a lot of mainstream is sh*t, but that is subjective.
@larrystreak 1044, They’re not a pop boy band!?, they embrace Alternative/Indie music. Since they decided to change their sound and leaning into fans interests from other genres they listen to.
I was going to have a go at Gallagher and say there was no brit awards in 1975 didn't start till 77 then realised it's the band he was on about that's me officially getting old 😊
Also what separates the 1975 from being pop is. That in pop no one makes their own songs, none of them play instruments in pop. Hence why if you were to put the 1975 anywhere it would be pop rock and all their songs are fantastic
@YTSFACTS4444 they are you should listen to more of their albums, they have made many rock songs. More rock ones than pop with a more skilled talent range than oasis
@YTSFACTS4444 they would fit more into pop rock like I said earlier how many albums have you listened to and I have listened to more rock then you have eaten food. I’m a master of rock is my favourite music genre so don’t try and throw that at me
Yeah even Matty has said that they aren't a ROCK band but they do have Rock songs and alot of Pop Rock songs. They've also experimented with alot of different genres which let's be honest Oasis never really did as much as I love them.
Hes talking about music? You want him to say he likes that band? That would be when you say grow up if he was saying he liked a little girl pop band then that would be weird, a grown up man who rates the 1975 has alot of explaining to do to his girlfriend if he has forced himself to have one 😂
Not sure of your comparison?!? The Libertines were class, although shambolic and definitely in the indie rock category; as opposed to 1975 who are a pop band.
Let's put this in perspective: the 1975 last album out sold Gallaghers high flying parka-monkey or whatever. Just an irrelevant old man, trying to be down with the kids and failing miserably.
Gotta agree with Noel on this one.The 1975, best "RoCk" band? Lmao. The band and their fanbsse are lucky they aren't in the 80s otherwise bands like Guns N Roses,Poison,Motley Crue and their fans would've ridiculed them
@@dominic36567 you seem to think alot of people are thick and calling them so and cant even see how hilariously thick you look trying to stick up for a band like the 1975 and not realising you cant get thicker then that! But then again your probably born before 1975 and still listen to marc almond
The 1975 is really good and is my favorite band of the modern era. Yeah, you may not like their image, but they objectively make really good pop music and a lot of their deep cuts are really solid.
@@dannyharrisonn_I don't think I've heard or seen anyone compare the 1975 to INXS or compare INXS to Prince. You said the 1975 are the next INXS, honestly Michael Hutchens would be embarrassed to be compared to the 1975. The 1975 will never hit anywhere near the level of INXS. In 50 years time INXS will remain in the hall of rock, if the 1975 ever leave a legacy in 50 years time I'll be incredibly surprised. Prince is on a completely different level, to even put Prince and the 1975 in any discussion as some measure is absolutely ridiculous.
@@BP-zb4qf the 1975 are heavily influenced by Prince and INXS and that's why their sound and image is the way it is... Your personal opinion on the matter doesn't really reflect on what the mass-majority, the public, the media and music reviewers say.
The 1975 is doing the same thing with the whole 80's, Tears for Fears, new wave genre, that Noel and Oasis did with the 60's and the Beatles, only, if we're all being honest, they're doing it more originally, and down right BETTER! But everyone still expects Noel to be an arse, so he showed up in true form. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if the whole bit was scripted. Not to mention, if Noel hates it, all the more reason all the new kids know they HAVE redefined it, beautifully. I'm 40 years old, and I love alt music from my generation. One band I never quite got into, was the whole Oasis vibe. Because it wasn't even their own vibe. Over the years, songs like Wonderwall, and Champagne Supernova have grown on me, I'll say that much. But back then, if you would've asked me if Oasis was "rock music, or is this shit?'' I would've responded in precisely the same fashion, quite literally, word for word, as good ol' lovable Noel here! And that was LONG before I was anything close to a grumpy old man... I was a kid, who thought it was garbage at the time, and I felt that anyone who couldn't see right through the Oasis BS, put on, stolen vibe, that didn't even land at the right time or in the proper generation, was quite an arse themselves. And I still feel that way when I watch those videos to this day. And to watch this, and hear this tool-bag say this type of stuff, and not even realize the indefinite pang of irony to it, especially considering the band he was in, and the songs he helped to write, and then perform for the world... Their stuff wasn't on such a different level from the 1975, that anyone from Oasis could stand on the rock foundation, and have the nerve to say the 1975, of all bands, shouldn't have the right to exist in that same space!. Look when he explains the situation too! About how he was watching with his kids... It's like he had to think about whether he was watching it with his kids, or whether he clicked the wrong link when he was watching his internet porn! His kids probably LOVE the 1975, and they probably called Da a Bufty for saying that BS on whatever podcast this was. He just looks like a completely full of shit person, searching for a way he felt would be 'safe' to talk some shit. He knew he needed to add someone else's opinion to make it seem valid to begin with. Grumpy... Try pretentious! All that's to say nothing of the fact that ol' Noel obviously can't let go of the past. He still looks EXACTLY the same way he has every single day of his life since the one time in his life someone told him they thought he was cool. He got that compliment (probably from some 12 year old), and hit the pause button on his 'look'. Can we say stuck much? I bet Noel is secretly mad as hell that no one in Oasis, including himself, never had moves like the guys in 1975 either. He probably thinks dancing is for bufties too, just because he can't do it!
the point is that rock is about more than just the Music; it's about attitude as well. make a noise, be heard, be contentious, be antagonistic, shake sh1t up ffs! I couldn't name you a single member of the 1975. corporate. beige. I'm sure they're lovely people and great musicians.
@@brianwilson49 The 1975 has the attitude of rock. The frontman, Matty Healy is arguable the only person in his generation of musicians that speaks his mind in the way Noel, Morrissey, Johnny Rotten etc have done for years. Say what you will about their music, but they are far from a corporate band.
@@Indieguitarist2007 'in the way of'........ interesting terminology there. I'm sure he's a lovely person; tell me what impact he's had on the musical and cultural landscape.
1975 is complete shit. It’s just 4 gay boys singing DUWOP BONG ROCK and crying about there ex boyfriends leaving them for another gay man. Oasis, Beatles, and tears for fears are leagues ahead of this silly little band and there silly little songs for silly little girls.
@@zackattack635 Why would anyone be upset that 1975 doesn't fit a certain music category? Even if you look at Oasis, their music isn't rock. Rock music originated in the blues and rhyme among African Americans. Oasis is so far from what rock is that they're closer to pop music. And frankly, the music isn't even that good. 1975 are trash, but you have to be absolutely deluded to think Oasis is good music or even a rock band. Oasis is just pop music written for middle aged men.
@@zackattack635 Not bothered about The 1975 ‘not being a rock band’. It’s the most predictably boring music take going. Predictable and boring like Noel’s new record
@@jonathanxavier2026 I love reading your comments, the ignorance is absolutely amazing. Ive got an idea yank, dont get your knickers in a twist commenting on every post that goes against your idealism.
The beauty of music is that it doesn't really matter 😂 I guess they won for their classic set-up of a drummer, bassist, and two guitarists with an edgy lead singer. They themselves say that genre is dead so I guess they don't agree with the rock label either. Had a cackle at this clip though
i love Noel Gallagher, but to defend the 1975 for a bit. 1975 is sort of like gorillaz where they blend genres but they do have songs that sound like rock or have guitars. I will give them props for having their own sound opposed to being stuck in the year 2004 or whatever. They do sound like pop but sometimes have a great rock sound. They don't consider themselves a pop band.
Also let’s not forget there are many genres of rock it’s not just one style. They lean into pop rock bands like blink 182. But I wouldn’t say they are the best rock band but they are a great band. Don’t forgot those reward shows are ran by guys in suits trying to tell you what to like.
There ain’t been anything worth calling decent since the Libertines, the Coral, Artic monkeys, Strokes, Greenhornes, BRMC, Babyshambles, Temples, Twisted Wheel, these are the last great bands.
I think they class anything which is lead by guitars as rock nowadays. But they do the same with R ‘n’ B, what they say is r ‘n’ b now is not it by far 😂
@@YoureMadCryAboutIt rock n roll star, headshrinker, hello, bring it on down, gas panic! you could go on and on those f'king dumbasses that judge a band/songwriter apparently without knowing any song of theirs apart from wonderwall...
oasis is more punk than any other band from the 90s, there is true rock in their attitude They made great pop anthems but come on, hasn't anyone heard bring it on down?
The 1975 is 10x the band Oasis ever were. They wanted to be the Beatles SO bad & all the remaining Beatles said they were garbage. Most overrated shyte ever.
