Noel started training in 1970, five decades later, just short of 3000 winners, he continues to train Flat and National Hunt horses from his base in Tu Va Stables, Castletown, in County Meath.
Interval training as a routine is required, but they often need hacking out and fun times, splashing in the sea, bucking in the paddocks, roll8ng in the sand etc.
I used to ride out for small trainers and I trained flappers myself, none of them were pushed, essentially they were ridden to fitness and raced every weekend, they all won and th3y had never won when in training with pro trainers , one came to us and needed shoes to fit. She had just been run over three miles without being fit or having shoes that fit, not prperly groomed. Poor thing had been bred to win a Derby and had been knocked about. Mentally unhappy. She won about f8ve races for us that summer. .
