She had such guts. Having been sacked from Crossroads she picked up her musical theatre career after a gap of 30 years. She never gave in right until the end when she was too sick to go on stage. If the TV folks who fired her had had one ounce of her talent or sheer persistence they might have understood what fools they were making of themselves. Even if she suffered terribly she won in the end because she is still loved and treasured by her public .
Awww I remember watching her with my mum and was very impressed by her on TV .. I never forgot about her Noele Gordon definitely a Queen in her own rights Rip Nolly xxx
God Rest Noele.Just So Very Moving To See The Great Ronnie Allen And Sue Lloyd Showing Such Deep Respect.God Rest Ronnie Too.Wish We Could Have Crossroads Back Greatest Soap Of All!
God bless Noele. She was such a part of my younger days.Cant believe it was 27 years ago this week she died. Was at her graveside yesterday but had seen your footage before i went so i could imagine exactly how it was on that day thanks to you posting this film. All the best to you.
I noticed Ronnie Allen and Sue Lloyd were at the funeral,, were they still part of the cast in April 1985 or had they departed? I was only 7 at the time so memory a bit faded
Really? Hmm Interesting, not the impression we've got from the majority of the cast and crew over the years. Nor does it seem to reflect the ATV staff in general's view - the clip where she gets a standing ovation at a ATV party is online. Even Charles Denton, who took the blame for ditching her said it wasn't a personal issue 'she was a nice woman' he said 'just the producer wanted to change the programme to make it an ensemble cast'. But no doubt there are one or two people who she didn't get on with, she self-stated if you gave a cause to be blunt then she was.
@@AssociatedTVNetwork People from ATV Today coming out to speak fondly of her - Bob Warman (Who also narrated her TV tribute), Wendy Jones who introduced a special programme after her death, Anne Diamond, Nick Owen, all say lovely things about Noele. Extras on the show who said she was the only person who spoke to them and would ask how their careers were going, taking time to welcome new cast. The floor managers, production teams, carmera crews, over the years we've had messages from all the various departments who worked on Crossroads and not one of them have ever said she was 'horrible'. So, no. As Sue Lloyd said Noele would be stern if someone was messing around and wasn't being professional. She was only 'off' with you if you gave her a reason.
