Noir Alley - Shockproof (1949) intro 20230716 by Eddie Muller shown on July 16, 2023 From TCM's Noir Alley (Saturdays at Midnight ET and Sunday 10am ET) hosted by the Czar of Noir, Eddie Muller.
I enjoyed this picture. I was looking on the Noir Alley Twitter page and was surprised to see how many people expressed their dislike about this movie's ending. I wasn't too disappointed by it: I usually brace myself for fairly unsatisfying endings with this genre. I liked the beginning of this movie where she changes her hair color after being released from prison. Some of the transitions in the opening scenes were well done I thought. Beyond that, it is kind of a strange movie. I appreciate it for what is is, though. Thank you for the uploads. Do you watch every noir that he presents regardless of whether you think you'll like it? If the picture is not something I think I'll enjoy I usually pass on it. But the films I do watch are excellent and it's really nice to have Eddie's comments bookend the feature.
Just watched last nite and it was great. Don't usually like CW but I did in this movie. I really enjoyed PK. She carried the movie. I liked the hokey ending. Neither fugitive was a true criminal.
Really love hearing the background of this movie. I had already seen it, and the bizarre story of a parole office and a parolee falling in love blew my mind as they descended into criminality and then somehow escaped it. Not quite sure if it's credible, but there it is.
