Noir Alley: The Third Man (1949) outro 20210321 by Eddie Muller shown on Mar 21, 2021 From TCM's Noir Alley (Saturdays at Midnight ET and Sunday 10am ET) hosted by the Czar of Noir, Eddie Muller.
I think The Third Man is the greatest British film ever made, and personally, consider it to be a masterpiece. Cinema and noir simply don’t get better than this.
@@stephenscharf6293 Excellent choices! My top 3: 1. Force of Evil (1948) 2. Singin' in the Rain (1952) 3. The Third Man (1949). Though Singin' and Third are in a dead heat for 2nd place. Depends on my mood.
Re British films there is also David Lean's magnificent troika Dr. Zhivago/The River Kwai/Lawrence with Alec Guinness appearing in all three of them. Fine. And THEN there's Tunes of Glory which -- for my money -- is Guinness' best performance on the silver screen, Tinker Tailor being in another class entirely. (Don't get me wrong. The Third Man is top.)
As a longtime fan of film noir genre, I look forward to Eddie Muller’s commentary each Saturday midnight. His witty and interesting anecdotes makes watching each film extra pleasant and better appreciated. 👍😎🎷
@@NoirFan77 Indeed it is. I wish TCM UK showed it and this genre of film more often, but I feel very lucky to be able to watch them at the touch of a button.
@@lewistyler462 Yes, I heard about UK TCM not having Noir Alley a little while ago. I don't get it. Must be some sort of licensing restriction, because otherwise I can't see the logic. I'll bet there's a huge interest in (mostly) American noir in the UK. I for one really enjoy British noir. Like 'The Third Man'!! In my top 3 films of all genres.
