Footage of a cereal crop stubble research burn from "inside" the fire captured by a video camera protected in a fire-proof enclosure. The footage show the speed and noise of the approaching flame front as it passes by the camera.
The experimental burns were part of a research project to test a new theory on the role of convective heat transfer in the ignition and spread of vegetation fires.

If youve got a thick jacket and jeans you should be able to sprint through it. Hold your breath though right when the sprint starts 50 ft before it arrives from a crouched/sprint-ready position, and the last breath is from within your shirt so youre not inhaling hot fumes directly. Leave shirt down, jacket up cover face and hair, hands in jacket.. And pour spare water on yourself. If no jacket, put hands, arms, face in shirt.., you should still make it. Either way, its better than slowly roasting in it for 10 seconds. Close your eyes.

Is there a risk of scalding from steam burns that wouldn't have occurred with dry clothing? Yes, the clothing might be less likely to catch on fire when wet, but if it's a flame resistant clothing that's not likely to catch anyway, adding water might incidentally add another vector for fire to do damage that doesn't need to be there? Just posing the question.

@@SwampCityRadio1974 the vaporative effect will be helpful till the water in the clothes start to get too hot anyway and then it will conduct heat far faster than hot air or dry clothes. This contact burn will be greater than the steam effect for the first minute in my opinion. But the contact burn will not be relevant for the first 30 seconds which is more than enough time.

You will die if you try this, folks! Please talk to a few wildland firefighters before you try running through a fire like this. The Temps reach in excess of 1k degrees Fahrenheit. You will not be able to hold your breath. You will inhale and sear your lungs and, at best, suffer catastrophic thermal injuries. Dumbest advice ever.
