Dude I totally forgot about some of these beautiful devices n techniques n some I haven't even imagined were possible 🙆 great experimenting with great results... Thank you for creating the content, look forward to trying these out n share this channel 🖤
The results are awesome, but...... I'm a noob and not 100% following what the gate is actually adding here - is this effectively like side-chaining the volume of your extra fill-in parts to a randomly triggered midi note that triggers about 50% of the time? So the parts are always playing, but randomly, 50% of the time their volume is turned up to let them sound?
Well, we can see the tracks are being sent to the return tracks right. But the gate stops that audio from going into the effects. The gate sits in front of the effects on the return track and acts as the gatekeeper. He says 'thou shall not pass' to the audio. The only way the audio will pass through into the effects is if the gate is open, and as we know, the gate won't open unless it's being triggered by its sidechain (the ghost track). Therefore the ghost track triggers all the transitions to occur at once.
You can use literally any plugin with the name "Gate" in it, there's so many out there, even free ones. Pretty sure your DAW comes with its own stock Gate plugin too. Gates have been around since forever even back during the pure analog recording days.
