Elephant is Musth dumb ass. This is normal behavior for a male elephant when they are in musth. Gland on the neck starts to leak and they become super aggressive. If he were free in the wild, he would be doing the same thing.
The reason why the elephant is angry is that there's another elephant inside that cage. That's why she was angry. If people understand animals' feelings some more, they'll know animals have feelings. These elephants are very emotional animals.
Boo hoo these are mainly instinct driven wild animals they have a very basic spectrum of emotions. Personally I despise these stupid creatures I think they are nasty god awful creatures. I think it's tantrums are hilarious 😂😂
+Veeral Gandhi Thank you for your suggested possible reason. Why doesn't the zoo keep a watering spray on the ground? And let the elephant roam in much bigger pasture? Watching this, I'm very upset! It should be reported to the Animal Control Department as animal neglect or abuse!!
no, they are kept separate while they introduce new elephants to the enclosure -- so they can smell and hear each other first with no danger of being able to attack. they are all females.

I'd like to know how this elephant is doing today. Clearly, he is in distress and needs to be in a sanctuary instead of a zoo. If they keep him enclosed like that I fear another Tyke incident will happen, and we all know how that one turned out.
I definitely agree this elephant should be with his friends and family not separated from his kind in a small enclosure let him be with his kind before the Tyke incidents happens
Tyke was a heartbreaking story. I released a single to try and spread awareness about this sort of thing. Hopefully something like that never happens again.

Elephants live in herds. They have strong relationships and feelings. This elephant is kept alone. Poor elephant. Very horrible to torture a live being emotionally. Very sad
That person in the cage is deliberately annoying the elephant, going in and out.He has clearly mistreated the elephant at some time and the poor thing simply wants to kill him.
He/she is not PISSED OFF... they are SOCIAL ANIMALS and the FACT that we are all ALONE and everyone ELSE is inside SUCKS!!! And we want to be WITH THEM! I'm SURE the zoo has a REASON for isolating this one... but it's sad to watch!
How can a elephant be a elephant in a confinement like a zoo! There horrible don't support them and let elephants either be free or go into a sanctuary! I don't really know the answer but i do know zoo's suck for them because of not enough room!
Kimberley Medina So true , Elephants are migratory and to keep them in Zoos or chained up is cruel ! Elephants remember everything so if a worker abused this one and came back on scene it could piss them off. Could also be a Bull male in musth
Kimberly Medina It's about time you acquired just a smattering of education before you start sounding off. I was going to suggest that you go back to school but then I thought "Huh..No point. It didn't work last time..not likely to work a second time!
I feel sooo badly for them. ...I wish they could at least get a tranquilizer gun and give her some medicine and then get her to a sanctuary...soooo sad
So cruel. Man has become so wicked and his heart so hardened. These poor creatures will have real freedom only during the 1000year reign of Christ Jesus on earth.
i work at this zoo, i know these elephants and they are treated very well, she's upset because the baby elephant died.Thats Gina. one of them miscarried again this year so shut your trap
People don't understand if you turn these elephants lose in the wild they would never survive because they were never in the wild .Poachers, diseases and starvation would kill them so the elephants in the zoos are the lucky ones .
Seems very distressed at being separated from the other elephants, but there must be a reason why the zoo is keeping them apart. Elephants are highly social herd animals, and zoos know this full well. Maybe this elephant doesn't get along with one of the others for some reason, or is in the middle of treatment for a medical condition and this is temporary isolation.
also could be a short separation time for foot care or vet check ups. Zoo's with herds need to sometimes separate pairings for a short time to give care, it is dangerous enough to give foot care with an elephant alone, and bringing a whole other elephant into the process can make it very complicated and dangerous. It is best to separate them for a short amount of time.
I grew up with an African elephant this is a bush African elephant which is doing his dance. They sometimes do this and like to show who is boss. They are the most dangerous to be around.

no one can take an animal that has a range of 100's of miles of open space and place them in a four walled enclosure, it is still a four walled cell no matter how it is devised - and - some of the comments by the humans are absolutely appalling. close down all zoo's and other prisons that incarcerate wild, majestic animals like the elephant, because it is incarceration and nothing else.
This is not a bull. It is a female (cow), and they are very territorial. All three appear to be cows. And these are African elephants, which tend to be more aggressive than the Asians.
This elephant is suffering. Heartbreaking to watch. The people working at this zoo making money of this poor elephant's pain, frustration and distress. It's down right horrendous cruelty. Close this zoo and all zoos
Doncha just LOVE that everyone and their auntie becomes captain OBVIOUS at the zoo. Oh lookie he's mad. No chit cherlock. And I'm sure crowds of jabbering visitors were ever so helpful. They're trying to get the two elephants to accept each other. A crowd of refugees from open mic night at the Onion really isn't helpful.
He might be a male in Musth, which happens at least once a year, when the testicles double in size, and the testosterone can be 50 times more than usual. When in musth, the urine smells terrible and constantly dribbles down the back legs, and often the glands near the ears seep a fluid down the face of the elephant. With so much testosterone (50 to 60 times more than usual), the male acts very rowdy, is aggressive, wants to be in charge, drive other males away, and follow the females in case one is in estrus. But, mainly, males in musth act this way in the wild. If you check the many videos of wild African elephants in musth, and read/listen to the experts talk about this condition, which may last two weeks, I think, you will understand more about it. But, I am just blowing smoke here, as I live in Maine, USA, where there are no elephants at all, but have been casually studying them via YOU TUBE and other sources. SO I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS IS A MALE IN MUSTH, but it sure looks like it (and notice he is being kept in a separate cage, which would indicate MUSTH. Maybe somebody that actually knows could tell us? Roger, an elephant lover in Maine.
I hear ya I known that in 2013 when I was 9 on RU-vid I'm 14 now and I still know very much about it I mean I couldn't gives a sh*t about the males in musth at denver name groucho bodhi Billy chuck and Jake they were never this rowdy
He is in musth. If you leave him in an enclosed space with other elephants there is a good chance he will kill one of the smaller ones. This is why zoo's aren't the greatest place for elephants.
He might be in “Musth.” It’s a periodic condition in bull elephants where testosterone averages 60 times its normal level and results in very aggressive behaviour.
from what i get these elephants are meeting each other for either the first time, or this has been another try at getting them close to try to socialize. introductions like this have to be taken seriously and this behavior is normal. this is how it would be in the wild as well.
This is nothing like behavior in the wild. This is elephant prison. Please read about elephants. They are fascinating animals and people are finally becoming more educated and aware of the abuse we heap on them. These elephants have been on public display in a prison for so long it's a miracle they don't commit suicide by killing a keeper or two. There is a wonderful sanctuary for abused elephants right there in Tennessee. They need to be released into that sanctuary so they can be elephants. It is 2021 now. We have the internet to watch elephants. We don't need to keep them in a prison on public display so the zoo can make more money and defend their greed as "conservation".
HES SICK OF BEING CAPTIVE AND SICK OF PEOPLE ALWAYS RUNNING THEIR MOUTH NON STOP AND SICK OF NOT BEING ABLE TO WALK FORWARD LIKE THEIR NATURE TELLS THEM TO DO!!!! THEY'RE KEEPING HIM IN AN UNNATURAL STATE!!!!!! @$$&%?=)$@&_/?=%!!!! AND HE NEEDS FAMILY AND FRIENDS AROUND HIM!!!! ACTUALLY HE NEEDS TO BE FREE!!!!!
There are two possibilities scenarios for keeping these African elephants separated: 1: Bulls are harder to manage than females and are used exclusively as breeding machines 2: Zoos are oblivious to the importance of companionship between male elephants
This male elephant is likely in musth, which is when their hormones run wild and is when they breed with female elephants. This happens to all male elephants once they grow to adulthood, and normally docile and mild mannered male elephants often times become very violent and 'angry'. In the wild, male elephants in musth will often do battle with each other -- sometimes to death -- in order to establish dominance, and which of the males wins the right to breed with the females. It's possible in this case the male is deep into musth, and is very upset that he can't go be with (breed) the females.
Elephants addicts to elephants n they enjoy in groups so let them live with the group in the jungle r in sanctuary n plz release then from ur cruel world n ur cruel captivity we shouldn't always speak about human rights we should speak on animals rights too.... Love for all hatred for none
Why do you assume it is a male? It looks like a Matriarch to me. These zoo klutzes ought to be jailed for animal cruelty ... elephants DIE without water or companionship. Was her babies taken away from her?
Calm Down people! They’re not abusing the animal he/ she is stressed over something we don’t know why or how. But zoo caretakers know what they’re doing. So don’t assume their mistreating it off the bat. If you don’t know the why and what then don’t say anything if your not knowledgeable of the situation. Yes the animal is stressed but maybe he or she is angry at another elephant 🐘 or maybe it’s a male going into Mest. Look it up.
Why oh why is this allowed, it's horrific ,they simply should not be there ,the distress, this baby is suffering is horrendous ,you should all be ashamed of yourselves ,poor poor baby heartbreaking ;I hate seeing this ,awful! !!
Why’s he so mad ??? Like seriously !!! Why don’t u stay captive for years in one place let’s see how stable you’ll behave???!! The reason animals are captive is because people encourage such an act by visiting and letting these people earn money from it . This is mental stress for any animal that’s a prisoners away from its family and freedom.
Memphis zoo is an elephant prison. I know. I lived near there for many years. I stopped visiting that zoo a very long time ago because of the elephant abuse. These elephants need to be in a sanctuary where they can have a little bit of freedom to be elephants. This elephant prison should be against the law. They kept one of their elephants in that prison until she died last year at age 56. She never knew freedom. She had a small concrete pad and a concrete "tree". And a jail cell for when she was not on display. They finally expanded the elephant exhibit a little, after decades of nothing but concrete and iron bars, & they crow about how wonderful they are. It's still a prison with no privacy or freedom to have natural behavior. Please stop supporting the Memphis zoo. Their claims of "conservation" are a joke. It's to justify the money they're making & silence critics. Please stop supporting this.
The Elephant is talking. Why do we live captive? We roamed for millions of years. You hunted us and not you kill me slowly so you can mock me. Humans need to be caged. Free the elephant now.
