It's called Noita'd for a reason. ;) Someone in chat somewhere near there said Noita is "more fair" than Spelunky. I strongly disagree. Nearly every death in Spelunky could have been avoided by the player; they just missed something, hit a wrong button, or you got to greedy or something. In Noita... just... tralalala BAM ... molten giga saws. Yeah, many of the deaths can be pinned on the player who knows things, but it's so much more random-death-ish.

Don't know exactly how long it took me in game. But I bought it mid-June 2022, and got the "Victory" achievement on Steam, mid-September. Knowing my play style on 'new' games in my library, and where I'm currently at with hours. I'm going to guess probably 150-ish hours (maybe even as high as 250). 2:01:00 - gratz! figure that one out with little to no trouble. Right down to putting water down to keep the fire out of contact with the barrel. 2:37:00 - excellent learning moment. That back wall is very helpful when sorting things out. And now you might have a hint why the HUGE mana but little mana-recharge wands might still be worth it, even when it doesn't seem like it. :) 3:40:00 -ish - REALLY wish you had tried that lumi wand before you got back to the previous mountain. Hopefully by realtime-now, you've learned why. ;) I'm still like a month behind, here. lol [edit - 3:45:25 - ah yes, forgot how well the gears in your heard turn. Seems you're already figuring it out... lol-again] 4:20:00 nooo, you keep not actually _trying_ the lumis. *fake scream* ... every time you ditch them for basic stuff like bombs it hurts me heart a little. ;) 5:16:45 - Okay good, back on track. 5:55:00 - I was waiting the ENTIRE time you were in Hisii Base to get your butt over there man, since you had the thing! *fake scream again* do you know how many times you got CLOSE to finding it, and then just wandered away from it... like when you went BACK TO THE PREVIOUS MOUNTAIN when just mere screens away. LOL - Then I was worried you wouldn't even try the wand. Glad it didn't kill you throwing the broken wand so close to yourself, and glad you got a pretty good wand out of it. (Mechanically, it's supposed to be a couple "wand-levels" above the ones you normally find in Hisii, but that doesn't always equate to an actually-better wand for your current run.) In summary, by this point in the VoDs, you've learned a machine-gun wand (I call them frame-guns because of the mechanics behind it), a good and powerful shotgun wand, and even started working on a "['heck'] everything in that general direction" wand... sorry, can't remember the actual name the community uses, but almost everyone says that line when they manage to make one. Also... I may be sounding like I'm stressing out, but I'm really not; just kind of playing it up. The fact that you can figure all this stuff on your own, is mostly just, fascinating. I'm having a lot of fun watching a 'newb' surpass what I know in some areas, while really rolling my eyes at the things you "could do better, only if" in other areas. It's a whole lotta fun!

Congrats on beating it, you did it way faster than i did. Although part of that was i kept losing viable runs by going exploring, there is some DANGEROUS stuff lurking out there Heal Circle is so clutch, like run definingly powerful, but so so rare also, that was the weakest version of Kolmi, they are a huge push over compared to what you have to do to get there, but they get much nastier via... certain means. also, don't expect to beat nightmare, it's genuinely sadistic and all you get is an achievement if you manage it, can't even do most of the unlockable stuff in nightmare, because it changes how the world generates

Building a fully semi-assaultomatic wand like that may be illegal depending on where you live. Nevermind the fact that you really don't need to be casting so many spells at once. Be sure to talk to your local wizard counsel and limit the spell capacity and simulcasts to 1, no one needs these deathwands...

Since you saw it this vid, I can say Cirlcle of Transmogrification is one of my favorite spells (with certain perks). I think the first run I got to the "final" boss it was with that. Only drawback, the sheep transformed enemies you kill after using it don't leave gold. But it can really save your butt when there's a lot of common high level enemies coming for you.

A few things to mention: 1) Try collecting more Orbs of True Knowledge. There are more out there in the world and you’ll discover something very interesting when you do get to finishing your run. 2) More or less you basically are still a small fish in a big pond rn and you still actually don’t know very much about the game despite what you think. You’ve actually only really discovered like 5% of what the game has to offer. And discovering all the secrets in the game will depend on if you want hints or if you’re a godlike detective/cryptographer. The game is VERY secret heavy and if you think relying on discovering it on your own is your best bet, you’re gonna be playing this game for a long time. 3) That wand will NOT kill the Boss near that Orb room from before. He is actually much much more dangerous than the final boss you just defeated. He requires very specific preparation to kill. Don’t take him lightly and be very careful cause if you don’t fight dirty he will end your run.
@player03

Clarification on number 3: different bosses have different unique mechanics, and the pit boss has a mechanic that specifically counters that type of wand. It's a great wand otherwise (especially for not having read any guides), and there are several other bosses it would work well against.

6:12:00 it's so funny cuz that is like a fraction of the game, which is why i found the game frustrating at some point as the real deal wants so many pieces it feels like a waste to not get semi-perfect setup within 3 starting floors. You feel inclined to reset so often which is a horrible gameplay pattern burning you out. It's been a while so maybe they added a way to get all the minimum required pieces somewhere instead of relying on luck to spawn them as the worst run i've had was me exploring all the zones and not having a way to go past the REDACTED and who wants to get an ending instead of THE ending. Like in The Binding of Isaac the first ending is at mom but who counts that as an ending. I've got THE ending once and after that getting the worst run with missing pieces i've convinced myself i have to reset first 3 floors until i get enough pieces to have a shot at doing THE run again and even tho i got really efficient at going through floors the constant resets were very demoralizing and burning out. I'd love to learn that since i've left there were added ways to consistently get all the pieces required for THE run (like being a boss drops and such) to prevent reset cycle from feeling optimal.

Agreed. I have like a hundred hours in noita but always die to greed because I want to do everything and clear every floor. I end up not getting much done except accidentally dying to my own wand. And it takes so long to get a fun run that it makes the game lose its charm. There's just certain wands and spells you need and without them the game becomes extremely long or unbeatable. I honestly think binding of Isaac is a way better example of rogue like because of how much easier it is to break the game. The fun isn't in struggling to find the right drops as much as it is finding more creative combinations to break the game which noita lacks. My other gripe with noita is that 66% of the perks are nearly useless, to the point where a new player like carl instantly recognizes that lukki legs are objectively worse for movement. Like I get you need to have shitty perks to make the lottery more fun but there's so much balancing that needs to be done when you get so few perks, and in order to get a large number you need to break the game, which goes back to finding the right wands and spells. Noita needs to be WAY faster and more balanced to make it fun long term. One example is tinker with wands everywhere should just be a guaranteed perk. In most runs you can find ways back to the holy mountain to tinker again but it's so time consuming it makes it unfun. Tinker with wands everywhere gives you more opportunities to be creative and takes some of the stress out of the limited inventory which 100% of the time makes the game more fun. So why not always have it? The game is just better when you can always tinker with wands.

@@eatinginternet8690 600h here, still a Noob but: Hard disagree with most of your points (I'm not going into detail on any things to not spoil Carl reading this.) If you die of greed that's your own fault. Full-clearing is good and if you can't do it, you're not playing careful, skillful and/or slow enough, i.e. you're missing knowledge. Dying to your own Wand also just shows that you didn't learn the spells and interactions yet. The game is never unbeatable. Otherwise people wouldn't do Win streak challenge runs. Never compare two Roguelikes that focus on completely different things. Isaac is a fast-paced dungeon crawler focused on enemy rooms and synergies. Noita is... a lot of genres actually but heavily focused on exploration. You can't really say which one is "better", you can only say which one you personally like more. And in this case I have to say: I think Isaac is badly designed because: Isaac is way worse regarding resets: Many many people constantly reset Isaac on floor 1 if the item sucks or even reset to spawn next to the item room. Unlike Noita you can't go back or explore the current floor more if you think you are not ready for the next one. Your amount of items is fairly limited on normal runs in Isaac, so It's way quicker and more efficient to just reset if you get Butter Bean. In Noita any run can get somewhere, IF you're willing to put the time into it. Same way as Isaac starting out with Poly, of course finding the ingredients for a machine gun early in Noita makes it easier. Noita has a TON of creative combinations to break the game in many ways, you just don't seem to know them yet. Perks are bonus, never necessary or required to pick up. If you rely on specific perks, you're doing something wrong. Of course Fire immunity helps if you want to play a fire-build, but you're never required to and as such never need fire immunity to get a run going. You can, in any run on any seed, get the things you need to break the game. If you know where and how. Noita doesn't need to be way faster. If you want fast games play idk, Dead Cells or something. The fact that Noita is heavily based on exploration is why it is so slow, and that's a good thing. It's like when starting out in Terraria. If your Copper Pickaxe had 10x its speed or you would spawn with Rod of Discord, then the exploration part would fall of real quick. Hard disagree on the example. If you really need TWWE, just mod the game to give it to you at the beginning. But if you really need it, you haven't learned enough. There are many ways to circumvent this problem. You just said it's time consuming and THAT'S where the problem lies. Noita IS a time consuming game, and many people like that. If you don't like it, then Noita just doesn't seem to be your type of game. Which is okay. Different people have different tastes, and some simply don't have the time for a game like Noita.
@BrinaaSM
@BrinaaSM 3 месяца назад
The "minimum required pieces" exist in every seed and to my knowledge have always been. You just need to know where and how. I admit, sometimes it's easier to get them than other times but they do exist, so you can always get past the REDACTED.

Over a thousand hours here. I try to never reset. Each seed has potential if you play it right. The “perfect” setup can be vastly different from your choices, and tbh the sooner you break off from the main path the better off you will end up. I kinda agree that noita is a long game in the sense that it requires you to basically research all of it at once. However after playing a game like noita I feel like all other games are too short. I can pick up on basically any game mechanic someone wants to throw at me.

Please don't refer to the game or parts of it as "Traditional Roguelike", as people may start incorrectly tagging the game as such. The term "Roguelike" has already been ruined by people referring to any game with permadeath as a "Roguelike", despite efforts to spread the term "Roguelite" instead. "Traditional Roguelike" is intended for games that are like Rogue. Dwarf Fortress Adventure Mode, Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead, Caves of Qud, Dungeons of Dredmor, and Tales of Maj'Eyal are all "Traditional Roguelikes". Noita is a "Roguelite Metroidvania". We'll never get people to actually use "Roguelite" consistently, so "Roguelike Metroidvania" is fine too, but please do not dilute the term "Traditional Roguelike" as well.

Good run Carl, Circle of Vigor is one of the most useful rare spells in the game, but it's not the only reason you won. Your wand experimenting was exactly what you needed to do at some point, just remember: when you think you've reached the limit of what you can do with wands, you haven't.
