I have actually been wondering for a while if there's a proper practical way of manipulating those spells, and hot damn I didn't expect them working this consistently in a single group
Hey man, first of all thank you for all of these guides, I gave up on the game because I wasn't able to get past the first biome but with your help I have 2 clears now, If by any chance you do a guide on how to use spell to power that would be awesome
Up until now, I've just been using them to duplicate spells with limited casts, magic missile, for example. My jaw dropped when you absolutely humiliated the bridge boss
If you put a copy random spell after a copy random spell, it'll copy the random spell which will copy a random spell which has a chance of copying the other spell you put next to copy random spell effectively giving you a loop that GREATLY increases your damage. And slows down your game whenever you fire. The price of godhood.
note to myself cz i keep forgetting: copy random spell once-copies the spell next to it if its all in the same grp. copy random three random spells-copies projectile spells three times but modifiers 1 times. copy random spell thrice-does what the first one does but 3X.
Damn, now I've got to go unlock these to test a bit. I wonder if putting copy three, copy thrice, copy one and then the support means that you copy it 7 times every shot
You can create infinite spells that follow you around destroying anything that comes near your screen. Depends what you mean by "most damage"! :-D Usually people measure it in DPS (damage per second), however, I don't know how that applies with lag, lol. Might take 20 seconds to fire a wand if it lags bad.
I think it’s because even the devs were unaware of how to take advantage of certain mechanics. They simply put a description for how they intend the spells to be used. It’s up to the players on how they want to use it.
Even funner build that just got me killed: Spark bolt trigger, chaos magic, chaos magic, chaos magic, short range homing, orbiting projectile, quadruplecast, doublecast, music note, music note, random projectile, copy 3 random spells, copy random spell thrice, Mu
Every time I start feeling like I know all about spell interactions something like this comes up and sits me back down. Thanks for another awesome vid, Dunk! You da boss.
Quick question is there a mod out there that can like, save a run and send it to someone (with the run at the same progression) so that you could do a ''save my run '' kinda video ? i don't know if this is possible but that'be hella cool to watch
ive got 215 hours in the game and this channel still manages to teach me things i never knew... a shit ton of things I never knew. fantastic channel for a fantastic game. Love your content
I just watched your full two hour run and it was interesting to see some strats you used. One video that would be pretty cool is a more in depth look at the different formations and to learn how to easily spot where hearts/chests are
It should also be noted that copy spells apparently can cast other copy spells, so something like triple-cast copy-3 copy-3 sparkbolt can cast a whole bunch of sparkbolts at once. And with the way explosion damage scales same setup with explosion / exploding projectile leads to some insane damage.
It's really really impressive how many details the devs of this game put into the game and all of it's mechanics. Just crafting wands in this game feels like doing complex math 😂. But it's really fun so that's great.
11:30 Can this difference in damage be explained by having actually *two* spell groups? First spell group ends on copy-random-spell; Second group starts on the heavy-shot and wraps. What I'm trying to ask: Is the heavy-shot still part of the first spell group? It looks like the first spell group ended on copy-random-spell because of the tripple-multicast instead of a quad-multicast. In case I got it right and there *_actually were_* two spell groups present in that moment: How comes that the damage was higher with the 2nd shot? When the 2nd spell group started on the heavy-shot and wrapped into the multi-cast - what did the copy-random-spell grab? Did you just find a way to grab/copy an already used modifier? Or was it really just a bunch of gravity turned into damage by the bouncing burst?
Oh, you answered it at 15:50 - the copy-random-spell actually *_becomes_* a modifier and won't "remain a spell" - now it all makes sense! You are so helpful!!! @DunkOrSlam
@@TheBigLou13 yeah it's kinda weird one. copy-random-spell copies heavy shot, which is trying to find next spell to draw, which is the actual heavy shot. So basically copy of heavy shot draws actual heavy shot.
found out you can use these essentially the same way but with spells skipped over due to high mana cost , i think because it's the only spell remaining left not yet discarded? (possibly useful for the really high cost stuff like omega and x2 with some particular max mana on a wand) i had a setup with it consistently casting x2 but the x2 was before the copy random spell which in retrospect sounds like i could've crashed the game if it was flipped with copy on left and x2 on the right.
Looks like a little mistake in showing off explosive projectile modifier since yah forgot you had explosive immunity. It really is safe explosion damage wise, of course, except if the projectile were already to do explosive damage or in a few other rare cases. (blocked would have popped up if the perk had kicked in, so still proof of concept)
also one thing i learned about this is if you want to spell wrap anything to the right of the copy random spells will get copied so if you have something like light at the end of the wand to force a spell wrap copy random spells will sometimes copy light which is why if you had problems like i have with learning this mechanic thats why sometimes it doesn't deal as much damage as you want it has to be all one group so if your spell wrapping to double recharge removal or cast delay or add mana it has to cast in one spell block either in a trigger or on its own it has to be in one block
This is really helpful. I’ve been having a heck of a time trying to beat the alchemist, but I beat the pyramid boss with an easy plasma cutter. I think I’ll try this out, maybe I can beat the Alchemist.
what i don't understand is exactly why two "explosive projectiles" stacks to such a high value. it also looks like "heavy projectiles" stacks with itself in a really strange way too, not just additively. i think it's worth exploring this stacking alone without even involving any of the "copy random spell" complexity.
Would you consider making a tutorial video on divide by spells and the add trigger? Also interested in a tutorial about super high damage wands which are capable of killing the 33 orb boss in one shot. I have tried checking out the wiki but I have to admit I don't quite understand everything that is going on in the guides that are there. I have been able to make some good wands which have served me well in long runs but I've never really been able to get over about 1 million damage per shot.
Im really struggeling to get anywhere in this game. Im 70 hours in and didnt kill any boss yet. I watched several videos on how to get some decent spells, tipps and secrets. I never get any decent spell combos, not even the really cheap ones, not even talking about the wands the streamers show regulary. In my opinion the game is cool and all, but its to hard. It should have a difficulty that raises with the skill of a player, but this feels line a troll honestly.
70 hrs in Noita is where you should be getting comfortable clearing the 1st stage without taking much damage on a regualr base imo. The trick is to really search the 1st two lvls with the 2nd level's Fungal Caverns being your go to for a chance for major upgrades. Keep practicing keeping your Holy Mountain intact so you can go in & out to tinker with your new found wands. I know it can feel frustraiting sometimes but keep at it. Dunk has a video called "Welcome to Noita, You suck" (cute name eh?) It really helped me and Dunk has tons of people who said it really helped them to achieve their 1st victory. Hope you the best on your journey Young Luke Skywalker
Adding to what Dave said, you could also take a look into some of Dunk's wand building videos (more specifically, the spell wrapping video and the chainsaw one) These two videos alone made it so I could consistently survive the 3rd area and go far beyond that, so I REALLY recommend them. I still struggle a bit with the first area, sometimes, but these videos really flipped a switch for me. I went from being obliterated all the time in the 2nd area to almost beating the game twice in a row, and I only have 80h in. You rarely ever get the spells you plan on finding, the key is knowing how to salvage what you find and make it work. That's where these videos come in. That being said, it took me watching them twice, because when I first watched it, I just didn't have enough hours in the game and it was too much information floating around in my head. But don't get discouraged with "lack of progress". This game is all about persistence, after all, as well as learning with your mistakes. PS: What Dave said about keeping the Holy Mountains intact is a MUST. I usually make a lot of trips back and forth them, to grab the spells that interest me in the wands I find, and just throw the rest away. Wand tinkering can carry you hard in this game, and how you build them usually matters more than the spells you have in them.
Watched this yesterday and today found myself relying on it already lmao Had something like spark trigger -> heavy shot -> d10 -> crit on bloody -> [many lifetime modifiers] -> triple cast -> blood -> copy random thrice -> note spell and it fried everything instantly
So, I'm a little confused on this. Copying a modifier: 10:38 Normal = 93 damage 10:50 Copy 1 = ~245 damage 11:28 Copy 3 = ~1700 damage The copy 3 is clearly shown to copy it three times. (four total copies) 12:12 (with a copy 3) "You will only copy the heavy shot one time" (i.e. modifier) Am I missing something about this?
Super fascinating! Even if Nolla was still patching the game, I think they kind of enjoy when players discover things like this. They've left in, or sometimes slightly nerfed, a few godly discoveries. And I admire it. As I explain to friends, Noita is a game that rewards you for breaking. One part of why I still love it so much years later. :)
I was running with homing plasma cross with couple orbiting larpa, nothing special. But then I added copy random spell and copy random thrice, and that... thing... scared me. IT WAS 25 homing plasma crosses zooming from one side of screen to other causing fps drops to single digits
19:30 says you cant hurt yourself with this explosion while having explosion immunity me trying it out without explosion immunity: Welp, I have 20 hp left
Bro, I just got absolutely slammed by the high alchemist.. I had 1500 HP and he came out of the sky in the winter biome straight down on top of me and wiped me out in a single hit. Ever seen that before?
I don't get the mechanic at 10:47. Before you said, if the triple or double or whatever is completed, it will not take the heavy shot that is placed after the group (see 9:42). So why does it sill continue to the heavy shot after the "copy random spell"?
Oh damn. I never even bothered with pyramid because It's loot never seemed worth. But now I seeing how easily you can abuse those spells I'll definitely get them as often as I can
I wonder if we can find way to control other random spells. I recently found cast random static projectile and died from an omega black hole shortly after. Are there ways to control these perhaps?
I wonder how it would effect spells placed in an add trigger/timer/death trigger group. I know alpha/omega copy outside of spell groups (even outside of the "wand refresh" spell. Would be cool to test that.
If you put two Copy three random spells spells on a wand, can one copy the other, and that other then copying 3 other spells 3 times? (or one spell 9 times)
