I have the Nokia 8010. Updated to the latest firmware v12.8.3638 Android 12. The Nokia 8010, now supports native Auto frame rate switching with Netflix, Apple TV, Prime, BBC iPlayer. I also have the Nvidia Shield TV. I can honestly say the Nokia 8010 is a good alternative.
Nice Review Sir Chigz, thanks that boot animation and sound for the Nokia Brand is Nostalgic, I also thought it would have those hands with Connecting People message but this is not a phone so yes thats just Right to just put Nokia and the classic sound fir the brand, most boxes with Amlogic S905x3 will not have Google Widevine Level 1 but this one has it and with Atmos, so that is a fair rating from your chart.
It for sure lower rhe loading times i put a GB LAN dock to my Sony tv and the difference is quite big. Of course there are faster wifi but in many cases LAN is more stable@@andysmo
Thanks chigz....ye it took sometime..not bad but for some reason I was expecting more ... the potential is there but as you said in a previous video manufacturers are not even trying anymore..😁😁😁👍👍👍
Thanks for review, you forgot to talk about the type C port Wich is very important and useful and you can extend storage with that easley, this box is not on Amazon Canada anyway, could you please review Strong box as well, Thanks
By the known specifications the third generation AMLogic does not have AV1 decoding. This was introduced in the 4th Generation (S905X4, Y4, etc.). So I don't understand how this tv box with S905X3 can have AV1 encoding!
Thanks for the review. I am only interested in using the Nokia 8000 to play tv series and movies I have transferred to a hard drive. Nearly all are MKV files and recordings are 1080p but I am adding 2160p slowly.. Sound is anything from stereo, 5.1 and 7.1 to Dolby. From your experience do you think this will be suitable and provide good results?
The major issue with these boxes is that for some insane reason they dont support UK TV catchup services. Some of them like google tv support a few of them but are still missing major service s like channel 4, so anyone who wants to use them as a competitior to apple tv or an amazon firstick is immeadeatly at a dissadvantage. Total madness.
Obviously more is better, particularly to future proof, but is 100MB LAN really much of a disadvantage? Do you know roughly what speed is required to successfully stream the 4K services available? Or is there a specific use for a higher speed that I'm missing, like maybe game streaming? Thanks Chigz. I think that you looking once more at these TV boxes is a good move on your part. As the included TV OSs may not be updated satisfactorily and in times of economic difficulty TVs won't be replaced as readily. All the best mate.
You need a better and more reliable connection for internet TV, and streaming from a NAS drive. But also game streaming services would benefit from that faster ethernet, to give you lag free game streaming experience.
It's strange to have the ranking based on the Antutu scores. A cheaper Fire TV cube with "5 - Suberb / best" score shouldn't be below a more expensive Apple TV box with " 4.5 - very good" score. That makes no sense. The Nokia is 1/3 of the Apple TV box with the same score and shouldn't be 18th. It's all about price-performance ratio. Not about fancy cases.
I have tried different methods in the past, but I find, if I rank by benchmark performance, it encourages the manufactures to make faster boxes with better newer chipsets. I added the rating so you can see exactly how good the box is. I found this way works the best.
Specs vs price is not great when looking at competition. Makes snese for someone looking for Android TV OS box - limited apps is offputing to me ,I have one and it's hit & miss with sideloading. Shady modded apps work but I dont have any personal info on the box so it's whatever..
Excellent review, however I fail to see why Nokia made this UHD TV Box. There are several other options that are already well known that has all of features since the beginning of 2023. Baiscally there's nothing that stands out of this box compared to other UHD media boxes that has been on the market for months.
Price. It's doing what all the other ones are doing for half the cost. It's also an official brand product, so it should not have pre installed malware that sends your personal information to the CCP like all the other Chinese brands around this price tag do. Nokia has done very well.
break monopoly, scoop a fraction of the market...besides, these boxes are relatively cheap to build so the (risk - reward) profit is worth a try. This is just my opinion though.
Bought Nokia Streaming Box 8000 in good faith - it fails to connect to the internet via WIFI or the well tested Ethernet cable. All other devices work fine - returned the first box but the second one gives exactly the same problem - any suggestions?
I have one of those and I'm always running out of storage and had to delete my apps just to update with no way to upgrade storage, anyway to upgrade storage? I'm desperate.
Well dear sir good morning ,,,, how can i get it at my home or is it available in pakistan in which city please tell because i know the nokia very well as whole member of my family are still using this wonderfull durable nokia product of different kind ,,, well east or the west ,,,,, nokia is the best of course ,,,,, thanks and regards
09:03 - Pretty POOR SHOW when my current TV 'Box', an old 2015 Nvidia Shield K1 (2Gb Ram/16Gb Storage & running on Android 7) has Antutu score of 154,584... So.. Even though my K1 is really showing its age... I think I'll pass lol... I just want a decent powered, PROPER Android 10 or 11 onwards (NOT Android TV), with at least 4Gb Ram that i can buy to replace my K1... Any suggestions? Otherwise, I think I'm gonna have to get myself a used Motorola G100 or Edge with 'Ready For' capabilities though more pricier at £200+ lol 😏 😎🇬🇧
@@ChigzTech I think Android Central did a video a year back where they said it'd be really cool if Nvidia released a new updated version of the K1 tablet too! 😏
Returned the device as turned off my TV suddenly and to get back, have to unplug and reconnect the box. another issue was storage error while playing IPTV
A good application for this unit would be for the truck drivers, who can watch TV during a break after a long trip so they have news TV , football results and live broadcasts. But, in all other cases (home, bussiness) is not too high-speced so.... Nokia targets only a special kind of users.
Doh - a fail on the technical details: LAN speed is measured in megabits "Mb" not megabytes "MB" (per second), WiFi is "GHz", TV resolution is "4k"; can't take the rest of the review seriously if the fundamentals are wrong.
onboard storage is a bit low. I don't understand why all the boxes don't have at least 16GB of storage. One if the frustrating things with the Firesticks
Guys, help if you can. I have just got this box. I have sideloaded as usual with DL. I have used usb as additional storage device. When I sideloaded apps, I see see them and can use them. I turn off tv and Nokia, switch on and apps not there. If I remove the usb and reinstall, the apps are there and sometimes get message usb not supported. Any ideas why apps don’t remain on the box? Any help appreciated.
What's funny though is that this TV box has Netflix built in but my TV box that I have that's through Google doesn't have Netflix built in. That makes no sense😮
awwww it looked so good until you mention only 8gigs storage........thats horrible.........8 is nothing......i dont know why these guys put so little storage.....you need 16 at least. Especially if you want to install a game or 2.
