as a nokia fan, its kinda frustrating that they keep releasing these pseudo-budget phones that would never get any buzz or traction to the smartphone market.
These devices are what keeps the ball rolling. I just want them to release interesting devices alongside them, but don't expect the cutting edge from the C and G series. X is where it will be
Even though the design language seems to have been borrowed already existing designs. Nokia has definitely managed to give it their own Minimalist design look and feel. Really elegant devices. Camera quality also seems quite reasonable for this price point. Good one Mr.Nokia waiting for your future videos.
The borrowed design may be due to an android one google requirement. I read somewhere that Google is pretty strict with designs for brands to use android one
I purchased the Nokia G21. For 159 pound - I was expecting the phone to come with some disappoint as I am used too flagship phones. But I wanted to downgrade as I really don't use the features that come with a flagship phone. I'm only interested in listening to music, watching RU-vid videos and Facebook. I do like play a game every now and again but more the retro arcade platform games that aren't graphic intensive. So I figured the G21 would be right for me. I am actually surprised to say that this phone has not come with any disappointment at all. I think Nokia have done quite well and I am actually happy with the phone. It does all that I want from it and it does it well. For 159 pound - this phone is absolutely perfect for people my around age (49) who just want a phone for a bit of entertainment, social media and general internet usage. For that price - you really can't grumble.
Very useful review. It helps me understand the performance of the phone, especially the responses from the apps. I think I will get a G21 for my parent-in-laws. Thank you very much.
What I don't like here: Camera cut isn't done in Nokia design language, eerily similar with Lenovo-Motorola. 2mp macro camera is becoming a bad joke. They could have taken imx258 for ultra wide and Samsung GM2 for main camera. But I always applaud your undying love to Nokia no matter what state they are.
wish that macro lens is ditched for magnetometer. it's just a small sensor that works in tandem with accelerometer to give that compass output overall looks great. with 5GHz Wifi coming back this is a much more worthy of 3.x successor than 3.4. sad that they couldn't just give AD-18W charger, I mean it's mass produced since Lumia era if I recall
@@AbdullaZaki mind checking if the 18W support is real? Maybe check call performance too comparing these two with 3.4 and 5.4. I'm already aware of Mediatek rf performance but never know how well Unisoc is
nokia should bring back the Lumia like designs❤❤❤ with greater screen to body ratio...lumia designs like the 930...1020...1520...they are more appealing... still a big fan of lumia designs
Abdulla.. is there a 3rd party software that can be used to change the Google assistant button to do something else?? i would love it if i can use it to launch the torch function on my X20..
@@AbdullaZaki thank u Sir! I am sure everyone will love for that.... If u find an easy way without rooting, ur channel will explode with subscribers...
@@thefatstick I second this. It seems short-sighted that they include the assist button without some sort of re-program app. Granted, what I love about my Nokias is lack of bloatware and indulgent apps, this is one time I wish they added some 3rd party support/app.
@@RogueBoyScout no.. that's not at all a good idea. I much prefer to just omit the button that no one asked for. I can just say "Ok, google." Google assistant would just pop up already . Omit instead of installing 3rd party app that is unnecessary... Pls it's a really bad suggestion...
Great video as usual abdulla. I'm going to bahrain soon and the biggest vendor of cellphones there is Sharaf DG. I'm thinking of buying a nokia fone but they still haven't got G11,G21 and G50 in stock. They only have the G20, X20 and 5.4.Are you getting the fones from nokia or do you buy it from the vendor in Dubai? It seems they release all the latest models pretty quickly there.
@@itsmarvinabel mine question is why do all manufacturers do outsource their designs from ODM rather developing by themselves. Just bcoz to cut RnD/manufacturing cost? Or something else
Abdullah THE Great! Thanks Man! Awesome review! As allways!, Im a bit into g21 charcoal like THE camera installation allthough scrats risk but sorry to say THE teardrop cam upp in THE middle is a No go! Why not a camera circle at THE left upper Side! Like in Xiaomi! That would have Been better! Ok its a matter of taste but it looks like a Motorola hmm! As i mentioned earlier wow! Nice cam on THE back! And charcoal color! But that teardrop construction middle front Up not My taste!
Thanks! Yeah the design do look very Motorola to me sadly, but the charcoal colour is very nice. Reminds me of the mocha colour on old devices like the E90
As said previously, the design of the back and frame is growing on me. It's getting better to me by the day but that Fuxxxxx v-notch. That's definitely something that is going to keep me from buying it. I'm so fed up with a notch design that I have always hated since it first popped up. I do understand that a punch hole screen might be to expensive for the class but please give a U notch instead. Personally I even prefer U notches to centered punch hole. Punch hole screen work for me if put in the left corner but that's just a question of taste. If I buy one it will be for the better performance over my G20 (which suits me perfectly in terms of speed). Now the G11 is also appealing as it has the same chipset as the G21. The G10 was just bad.
I think using a U might be more expensive, but I really don't know. I'm just waiting for the day under display front cameras become common and cheap because I find all notches distracting, especially since I personally barely use a front camera
@@m.run_itnask Yes, I speak about the selfie cam, Samsung calles the V ones infinity V and the U ones Infinity U but they only come on the Lower A series and only in combination with Amoled, the LCD ones get the same hidious V ones.
Design: I like the texture, but the generic design is sorry sorry. If they want to give the phone a big chin, please put the Nokia logo on it, otherwise please remove the chin. For G21 I prefer it to have punch hole design for selfie camera Chipset: I understand T606 is significantly more powerful than Helio G35, but for G21 I prefer it use Snapdragon 480 which is supported 5G network Camera: I don't mind HMD cut the camera from four in G20 to three in G21, but why is ultra wide the one get removed? I rather HMD remove the Macro
Huge chin! Now it looks even bigger 🐘 without a Nokia logo. No one will be buying this crap in Finland🇫🇮 in fact these G series will not be available in major big stores.
good phones regarding price , but what about new x devices ? any leaks or promises , im waiting for new budget nokia device but i don't think im going to by g21 , so i will wait new nokia x this year , what you think about this ?
Hi Abdulla,Ive seen lots of people complaining about g21 hanging alot is that true?Plus lots of questions have been posed on Nokia's optimization of its OS as the hanging is quite common even in other models despite having capable processors RAM n storage space ,definitely considering other brands with similar specs
Abdulla a big fan here am wondering which option is better nokia 3.4 vs g11?..especially interested on the little gaming experience as the chipsets are kinda pretty close
Hi! Nice to hear that, thank you :) Gaming should be pretty close, but I just think the G11 is a better phone overall so would go for that. Just make sure you go for the 4/64Gb memory variant for a better experience over the long term.
Thank you! I think it has more advanced processing, so should be able to produce more pleasant looking images. But I will test them out to see which captures better details
These aren't probably nokia's design. This is the design of the vendor Nokia is buying these phones from in large batches. Our local phone brands does this as well beacuse of lack of money and R&D for creating their own designs.
Good day, I love your videos and content. Please I will like to ask based on your opinion Nokia G11 and Nokia 5.3 which is better in terms of Performance, Battery and Camera???
Camera seems very similar, but haven't tested it in low light. Performance, the G11 would have a slight advantage in day to day usage if you go for the 4 gigs of ram version, and the battery life on the G11 is much better. Thank you :)
It is better on paper then I thought for the price. G21 isn’t a phone I would buy but if you needed something basic and reliable to get stuff done at a cheap price then it’s recommendable for sure. But why oh why with the Google button and 2MP macro…….. really!!!!!. I hate the design but there’s no denying it’s definitely a big improvement on the G20 and certainly the G10. Great video and I look forward to you full review. Let us all pray for Ukraine. They only wanted peace and freedom and prosperity. This war wasn’t in the name of the Russian people. It was in the name of the select few at the top. Nothing more then that!
Thank you, and agreed. It feels very vain to talk about technology when the Ukrainian people have to suffer, and I pray for their peace and safety. I'm sure the Russian people are against this, but they are helpless too
Thanks for this concise review . I want to aks you a question , I have the nokia 7.1 great phone , but I have to buy a new one which is your recomendation???? x-20-, x-10 g20, g10 or c20-c10- or XR20????
Hey Abdulla, I have been using nokia 8.1 and the phone is great and I have been happy with all aspects but the battery life. The battery is bad to say the least after using the phone for 1-1.5 years I thought it was related to battery health so I installed a new battery into the phone hoping that would improve things but it has not. The phone battery life really sucks with phone lasting for only 2-2.5 hours. So I think the battery life has more to do with android 11 optimization rather than battery health. so now I am thinking to buy a new phone. Kindly suggest me which phone I should go for. My main concerns with phone are that it should have stock android and a good battery.
Hi! If you want a decent combination of both power and battery life, the Nokia X20 is a really good phone. The G21 is good but it's a step down in many ways compared to your 8.1
If you want to improve battery, this is going to sound a bit weird. The fact is your phone is being overloaded with old and new data, the new programs are literally and intentionally "too big" for old phones. I had a phone for 2 years, did this and kept it another 2 years. Then the screen cracked :c It was a Sony experia, don't remember the exact model as it's not written on the cover, and can't check in the phone atm since it isn't charged. - I saved all the media, contacts documents etc, I want to keep onto a pc, and then start System reset to Factory settings. - Whenever it asks you to "you wanna remove dis/dat" you say yes. - When setting up your phone, do not connect it to Data or Internet. - Disable "auto update System software" in the settings, and your phones battery will last much longer. - .... then connect to internet xD This overload of software is often done by many companies to encurage people to buy more phones often. It's not even unknown and illigal to my knowledge for companies to do it.
I don't understand why every phone manufacturer are going with the rectangular camera layout on the side. All the phones looks the same. They should work on their own design language. Like Google with pixel 6. And I expect the same from Nokia.
Nokia should keep a clear goal about it's product line, it's just stuck in nostalgia of its previous phones and thier success.Instead of making new innovative ideas it's using the same old tried and tested technology to lure the customers who have a much better smartphone right now.The south east asia market won't buy this, nor other asians cause Realme and Mi and Vivo have already captured the market, some European and middle east countries might buy this phone. And unisoc hardware sucks,it will start heating after few minutes of gaming 🤧. Qualcomm Snapdragon and Mediatek have made strides to make gaming and entertainment based socs.
Nokia has forgotten how to make a competitive smartphone and a better smartphone. Since from 2-3years Nokia is sticked to non full hd+ display and all inverted specs when compared to other brands currently. And the V shaped notch feels so outdated. No stereo speakers nothing is interesting in this devices. Neither can be given to aged family members also. Just worthless Brand in 2022. I would request you to move to other brands review and leave Nokia until they come with better devices.
So true ! These cheap terrible releases has been slammed totally pointless releases here in Finland 🇫🇮. These could have been good maybe 5 years ago but not in 2022. HMD Global bankrupt soon?
Not bad, but it'll take me a while to get used to the new design. This design looks more muted and doesn't stand out as much...taking into consideration that most slabs these days have pretty much the same basic design and style. As some others have mentioned here, these devices remind me more of Motorola's phones. If they went with a new design scheme, they should have made the bottom bezel slimmer and ditched the v-shaped notch in favour of a hole-punch front facing camera lens. The specs are decent and to me the barebones, minimalist Android One programme is still a selling point. Just as an aside compare these two devices to the Nokia 8.3. Now, that was quite an attractive package! Even the XR-20 looks distinctive.
I still have a Nokia 8 since 4 years and it's about to die. I'm a Nokia and Sony Xperia enthusiast, and I refuse to get a Samsung or iPhone for an upgrade. Vodafone in Australia only has Samsung, iPhones, TLC or Oppo phones. Which is frustrating, since I'm eligible for an upgrade. So I am looking for an unlocked NOKIA. Which one is the best way to go for? G21 or G11 ?? (I like the blue very much). I'm not a gamer, just using the phone for everyday internet and videos, doing banking etc. So nothing extra ordinary. As well, the camera isn't that important to me either. So, my expectations ain't that high. Any recommendations? 🤔
You can't go wrong with either G21/G11, but both are a step down from the Nokia 8 in terms of performance but with much better battery life. Just avoid the 3 gigs of RAM versions and you should be okay.
@@japanijoota6190 But when ? Wat I'm trying to say is they are delaying the release n thn the processor becomes old and people in India don't buy nokia because it has old processor n it will definitely priced high than its competitors.
hmd The only thing that can be said about security updates is that they don't update properly, they only update between new phones for a few days and then they don't update properly, they are just doing business in the name of security update.
Google actually release security for nokia phones. Thats why bugs sometime occurs. Even other manufacturer still have to tackle down thier update properly. Phone manufacturers not all perfect releasing software update.
