Was anticipating to see how the robot handled that shell which the arm had knocked out of it's cradle at 3:50 :)

Very interesting! I enjoyed seeing the molding process versus the GRP method of other helmet manufacturers. The robot sanding the helmets: I dont think that was prep for painting...because it was only touching a few spots, I think it is to remove any traces of the mold seams. Had no idea the graphics were applied by hand (SHOEI is similar)...I expected them to use something water transfer printing.

Link in the right-hand column, I also added it to the comments above. It's called "DOT vs. ECE Helmet Safety Standards".

@wbwvids Thanks sir, I've tried it on before and it feels more comfortable and lighter than my current Caberg helmet. My girlfriend has a similar type head so I don't think there will be too much trouble there. I'm going to let her try it on in the store and probably buy it as a temp (to be used as a spare later on) helmet for now. Thanks for the reply!

As long as they keep inviting me, I'll keep doing it! Got an invite to the Vemar, Sidi, Falco and Caberg factories, so maybe will make a trip out of it and do them all at once!

Hi sir. Great video! I was just wondering what you think of the N62. I'm looking for a helmet for my gf and I've seen then go for good prices (I was told they aren't made any more so it's all old stock?). Is it worth the buy? Many thanks.

I noticed that when I processed the video, not sure if the helmet in back was placed correctly in the fixture or if it was a robot programming error. There are many sensors on a robot; I watched as another one stopped and sounded an alarm when something happened, so hopefully this one would catch the fact that the helmet shell was incorrectly placed.

how much invest for factry anybody know?
@webbikeworld

I'm not familiar with the N62 so I don't know. One of the most important things when choosing a helmet is to make sure it fits and matches your head shape, which is why you should always try on a helmet before you buy it.

How is the EPS liner installed in the shell?? In pieces? Adhesive?
@webbikeworld

One piece, by hand.

@Rezaroth I have no idea what this is supposed to mean? This is what it takes to make a motorcycle helmet. Give credit to Nolan for being one of the very few left who actually make helmets in Europe and have not moved production overseas.

6:28: Anyone has an idea what's called that test?
@webbikeworld
@webbikeworld 8 лет назад
+Francis Cecile Hsieh That's just a Nolan internal test to check for stress after the helmet has been on and off the rider's head for many times.

Thanks, but please don't do that, as all of the video, the images, the article and voice are copyrighted and are our original content that we work very hard to produce for use solely on webBikeWorld.

So much hi-tech and pride but one worker treating helmets like bananas 7:06. I would be disappointed to know that my helmet was managed that way, and that was done during a video presentation, imagine on common days. :)
@webbikeworld
@webbikeworld 9 лет назад
Not a clue what you mean, everything looks perfectly fine to me. One helmet touches another? I see nothing wrong, this is a production line.
@billadmond9450
@billadmond9450 9 лет назад
webBikeWorld It depends on point of views although that shouldn't be the standard. I know a bit a bout Japanese production line and I can assure you that such things would be punished, that is why Japanese factories are more successful, just look at Toyota as an example of production line. BTW, I like Nolan helmets, just I pointed out that so much "very" high technology isn't felt by the hand workers. Yet robots do better than humans because they follow the instructions.

Bill Admond I'll admit, you probably would see a different handling procedure in a Japanese factory. Which is why Shoei and Arai helmets cost 2x as much as the Nolan! In any case, there is no damage to the helmet and if you hadn't seen the video, you'd never know this happened. Let's focus on the important stuff, like the fact that Nolan is completely vertically integrated, even making their own face shields, plastic parts and they even have a license from Pinlock to manufacture their own anti-fog inserts. This helps them control costs and quality.
@billadmond9450

webBikeWorld I didn't specifically mention Shoei because this is about Nolan so it could appear that I was hijacking the post. But as we know price is the most important stop for any buyer when two competing products are on the shelf. I know that Nolan is one of the world's top product since they decided to produce composite fibre helmets instead of the much more expensive fiberglass made by the competitors.

Amazing place, so it explains pricing of those bettersmanufacturers like Nolan - it takes a lot effort to make a helmet. PS. On 3:52 a robot makes a mistake and trips over a helmet, i don't think it should happen ;)
