Angel Unigwe and her mother drags veteran nollywood actor Kanayo o Kanayo to court after kanayo o Kanayo banned Angel Unigwe from acting and stopped every producer from hiring her in nollywood..
Hi guys welcome back to naija gist direct
You can recall that on the 21st of June 2024 nollywood veteran actor kanayo o kanayo called out Angel Unigwe on his social media platform particularly Instagram accusing her and her mother of breaching their contract.
he said that Angel's mother took her daughter away from set against the agreed time, he made it clear that any production that engages the services of Angel unigwe from that day he will go there and disrupt the set.
according to kanayo o Kanayo angel unigwe was supposed to film for him for a whole day which the expiration of the day happens to be around 12 mid night but somehow Angels mother came and picked her up at 90 p.m.
3 hours before the time they agreed on and according to him a lot of producers have been complaining about angel unigwes mother to him, but this time around it happened to him directly and that is why he's speaking up as he threatens them. So in defense to the viral video of kanayo o Kanayo Angel unigwe and her mother who happens to be her manager has dragged Kanayo o Kanayo to court for defamation of character in a public statement they released a few days ago.
On the post shared by Angel unigwe on her Instagram page, she describes the allegations by Kanayo o Kanayo as falsehood
so in a bit to narrate their own side of the story and explain what actually happened on that set she dropped this statement,
guys it's quite lengthy but I will take my time to read it so that you guys can understand better. Also I will summarize it and give my own opinion after reading it just incase you still don’t understand.

That is how all this producers use to do, if you in movie industry you will know this producers and directors are not straight forward. I don't like the role angel is playing this days but that those not mean I should not say the truth. I have been on set with Angel and her mother they keep to there contracts.

He said his side and she told her side. Until we see the contract, we don't know who is telling the truth. My question is, instead of writing and releasing this long letter, why did she make a copy of the contract available, especially the portion specifying the employment terms? I would've done that and let people decide if I breached the contract. The mother should be careful how she is going about this. She's setting a precedent for people to make ironclad contracts for her daughter. This industry is one that people do a lot of favors in during production fostering relationships over the years. The favor you do today will help you tomorrow. Don't be too straight because of contract. Be flexible. I'm not saying let people walk all over you, but be considerate. Things happen that are beyond producers' and directors' control. Be understanding.

Kanayo O Kanayo is not wrong, I have made my point. She should have understood the whole thing because she too she's an actress so she supposed know as e de be. Sometimes it could be fault from Rain or working equipments . So no matter what says the time she should have atleast risked her time to complete the scenes. If you pay me to work for you on particular date and I came and it's unfortunate that ; maybe it's rains all throughout that particular date then, i won't do the work again because the time we said have past 🤷🤷 No nah . Angel's mother is just sugar coating her own side of the story, I watched Kanayo's video, there is no slandering words nor bully thing in there. He only called her out for continuously leaving set early. Is unfortunate that Nigerians have grown so much into police arrest and going to court, if other producers testify against Angel, who lose then. Izuutech is just falling apart on his videos just to be relevant on the case.

Kanayo O kanayo is wrong because angel is an adult and I don’t find any problem with her acting adult roles but at the same time angel is only 18 meaning that her mother was just watching for her safety. I mean acting cannot harm her but staying in the night for acting, we can never know what harm may come. Staying in the night is not the same as acting so they should never be compared regardless of the contract. Angel agreed but that was as the result of her level of thinking, at the same time her mother disagreed that was also as a result of her level of thinking, so please like Ada says the sins of the parents should not be laid at the heads of the children. Though Kanayo O Kanayo and Angel are both adults there is a big age gap which means that their level of thinking is not the same. Kanayo needs to behave like an adult that he is and understand that Angel is just a child according to their age and Angel needs to also understand that what she did was bad, changing her mind just like that because of her mother. She should learn from it. Yes she is wrong but it should not lead to banning because it’s not her fault. It’s her mother’s fault. Angel was behaving childish. In my own opinion they are both wrong.
