This was super helpful! I followed what you showed for a front view and side view...REALLY helped me to sculpt a character quickly. Something I literally just did was after I brought in the reference as a square (which was bigger than what I needed) I trimmed the plane and it didn't distort the reference! Thank you again. :)

Yes. I find that much more useful than the reference image in case where you need to match a blueprint.

I'm not crying, you're crying. This was a very lovely comment. Thank you so much! Who knew Nomad would bring me so much emotional therapy? That was very validating, I really appreciate the kind words. I am a person with a lot of self-doubt, but a stronger desire to help others, so this really made my day.

I've been searching for the 2nd method for a while, finally i got it. I'm glad that you posted this. But I have a doubt. what about the back view? when set ref for front its shows on the back toooo. what to do?
@making-things
@making-things 4 месяца назад
Glad to hear it. Yes, you can turn off the backside of the plane. If you tap on the the cog icon in the top right for “Display Settings” and scroll down, somewhere in the middle of the menu is a “Two Sided” checkbox. Just uncheck it to turn it off. Hope that helps.

Great video, you did an amazing job of breaking it down. I just wanted to ask what program you’re using for your screen recording to show your touches and pencil actions?
@making-things
@making-things 5 месяцев назад
Hey myth, thank you. You can turn on the pencil, touch, and mouse indicators in the Display Settings. Just look for the indicator section and enable it.

Is the scaling ratio accurate, though ?

You bring up a great point that I missed. Because I was working with two dimension values that had 4 digits, moving the decimal after the first number was fine, but in a 1600 x 900 image it would be 1.6 x 0.9.

My reference plane disappears when I select another object. Any idea why?
@making-things
@making-things 5 месяцев назад
Any chance I could see a screenshot of when you do see the plain vs when you do not? It would be very helpful if the screenshot showed the Scene menu open. I have two thoughts. If you tapped solo at a some point, it may still be on. Soloing makes non-active items disappear. The other thought would be if you had the check mark off in the Scene.

@@making-things Hi and thanks for your response! I rearanged my scene and it's suddenly working. I'll try to recreate the issue to keep track of it. Where can I send you the screenshots?
