If you select all the faces, and set it to individual (I think the i key), it will Inter all of them separately and you don’t have to inset twice

You can also select all the inset faces and press alt-S after extruding to move along their individual normal

Specifically, I'm looking to have the outside textures remain the same but the inside would have a destruction texture. A video on volumetric lighting with godrays would be awesome as well!
