To those who don't understand, here is what I got from watching it: Jane and Cody were best friends as children and were one day captured by pirates, Jane gets out alive but Cody is killed. It shows Jane grown up and still seeing Cody (now Miguel) everywhere, whether this is her imagination or a ghost I am not completely sure. She obviously can never forget her friend which explains her as an old woman looking at a picture of them together. The name "Haunted" makes this clear, but oh well.
miguel dies young as cody, but jane imagines him around her anyway... probably from trauma she forgot what happened. but later she remembers that he did die when he was young and she realizes what actually happened in her life... that he was never there.
This is definitely the one that gave me chills. There's a psychological edge in this one that makes it that much more intense, and the understated music-box kind of tunes, rather than the usual rock or pop, added so much. Crossover videos are fun, and I love to watch them for the amazing technical aspects, but it's rare that one gets me so engrossed in the storyline. I loved it.
"we're pals, right?" It sounds so familiar, and yet I can't recall where I've heard that line before!! The melody was pirates of the carribean, right? So sad and fitting!! Rescuers Down Under is such a great film, but I haven't thought about it in years! Great job, I really liked it. =D
You know, this is probably my favorite fanvid of all time. It's been over two years since I first saw it, and I still come back to rewatch it every so often. I'm moved, every time. Well done!
Not to mention I love the beginning with the TLK audio as Cody...it was already tearjerking to start with. Brilliant, and creative how you were able to put together all those different movies, for visual and audio.
This is so beautiful. Magnificent. I'm crying so much. First it seems like Miguel is alive and with Jane so this is even more heartbreaking when we realise along with her what really happend when they were young. I just can't stop crying since I saw that he wasn't really playing guitare! Thank you so much, this story is one of the best I ever saw in my entire life. You are a great artist Nightsade.
yup and you also see that in the end, when they become young again is because jane died and met him in heaven... so they go back to their child selves and its like they never left each other.
Thank you so much for your high praise Efeilliaid! Given the subject matter, I really wanted to go for that chilling, ominous feel, so I'm glad it came through :D As far as the ending goes, I was actually going to leave it out but decided that was just too heartless. Thanks again! :)
The music mix was amazingly done. WOW... I mean, the scenes fit perfectly, and you edited it just perfect so that they flowed together like one song. That's amazing skill right there. But to be able to convey a story without telling us the plot is an even more amazing skill. Great job! *thumbs up*
this made me cry. You really are amazing, th story and the images, it seems that they are not from differents movies, it doesn't even seem like a movie, great job
omgawd that was so good the end made me cry because in her own mind Cody was still alive and well but he was gone it like a love that never was.. it was astonishing to see how you made all this possible you really are an artist.
Really great work! I like how you cast the older versions, and the ending was beautiful. At first, it was kinda puzzling how it skipped back and forth from the past to the present/future, but after reading some of the other comments, I got the story. Very clever!
Wow this is amazing ! I´ve never seen something like this . You really feel the differences between reality and illlision. You feel sad for Jane but the end was so beautiful... well just great !
This was so sad! How Cody died and she had always thought of him her entire life. This is truly a sweet video. I loved it till the very end. A lot of though, time and creativity must have made this. Thank you so much for uploading. 5 stars and fave ^^
Yep. The parts with Miguel are the 'what life would've been like' if he'd lived. The lines between reality and fantasy become blurred for older Jane as she deals withe the grief of remembering.
Thank you! I'm glad you got it :) As the editor/creator, I'm too involved in the project to really step back and think "Hmmm....this is kind of confusing", since in my head it all makes perfect sense. Lol, but yay! You got it! Thanks again :D
This was so beautiful and so well made. And so sad too. I like your pick on the music too. It added the emotion. I actually got the story too. 8D It was simply a masterpiece.
I think I've replied to this before but this is one of the best Crossovers in there short history. Your editing is amazing and you should be really proud
Oh my gosh...For some reason I decided to rewatch this today (I haven't seen it in so long), and it still amazes me. It was almost like my first time watching it all over again - I was so into it I was surprised by the death even though I saw this before. This. is. so. beautiful.
Sorry to comment for the 3rd time, but I just want to add that this is like my current top fave crossover vid. I rewatching it...it's so captivating...and the story reminds me a little of Bridge to Terabithia (but it's still a very unique and amazing story) Don't ever remove this, please. If YT removes it, please put it back up again ASAP...I love it!
No problem! Lol, looking back, I think if this had been someone else's vid I would've had a bit of a 'WTF?' moment myself. :D Aww, thank you! You guys seriously keep me going some days! Otherwise, I think I would've gotten frustrated and just given up on a lot of these vids. So thank YOU! ^-^
To be honest, was a bit confused on the plot at first, around 1:40. But after watching it, I finally got it, and nearly bawled like a baby. It's so beautiful and sad at the same time. Nice job. ^o^
I agree with XSilverXRoseX14, it does have a dark yet innocent side to it. The editting was amazing and overall a well thought out storyline...keep up the good work!!! :D
The plot itself is entirely my own. I really wanted to take Disney vidding to a new level by playing with my complicated concepts then he-loves-her-but-she-loves-someones else, so I played with something that interests me; illusion vs reality.
Thanks MT! I don't even know what to say to such praise lol...I guess a great big THANKS! will work for now hehe. I love how you said you can really connect with Jane. Makes me feel all weirdly fuzzy inside lol. Grr YT lol
*whistle* Awesome video. I love how the storyline's dark but has sort of that sweet, childlike innocence to it at the same time (At least I think so). I think my favorite is when Jane's stuck in that one spot inbetween the trees ans she imagines seeing Cody there and freaks out. Not sure why, probably because her expression was perfect. Anyway, is the music the lullaby from Pirates of the Carribean? Sounds like it.
lol. Yes, I think that would help lot of us. I searched through these comments to find the explanation... XD I got wrong...except the Cody dying (mostly) and the 'going to Heaven too be together' part. ^_^ Inspirational video, as always. I STILL get chills within my very being at the sheer beauty that is your work! *U*
This was absolutely breathtaking and heartbreaking! I especially loved the scenes where parts from each move seemed to be cut and pasted to look as if they were together. Like in the part where Miguel as a young boy was driven away in a cage and there Jane was! It shocked me, as I didn't know that was possible! I do quite a bit of video editing myself, crossing over a romantic couple called Eriella and was hoping you could tell me what program you use. Thanks! :)
just awesome.. one of the best, emotional non/disney crossover i´ve ever seen..I became goosebumps O_o Anyways i like your idea and the conversion =) In short form: I like your videos SOOO much and I will subscribe you for sure ;)
I've always loved that melody from Davy Jone's music box; a little melancholy though. Nice work at finding grown up counterparts for the little tykes, Jane probably wasn't too hard ^^ This is a sad plot if I do say so myself, out of curiosity, where did you come up with the idea? You must have watched both movies countless times, because each blend of animation togther is spot on.
I think the jist of it is, Jane and Cody were friends when they were children, but Cody was killed. She grows up and imagines him through out her life, if that makes sense.
seriously i cried in the end. but i guess it was a happy ending because - just guessing... when everything goes bright gold and shining its when Jane dies and ses Miguel and they go back to being kids like nothing ever happened. still i cried.
I really didn;t think the plot was that complicated, but lots of people have thought otherwise I guess lol. No, Miguel is the older version. At first he's there to show what life would've been like if Cody had lived, but as Jane delves deeper into memory, that illusion of an older Cody disappears as she faces reality. Clear?
I think I know exactly what's going on...She is delusional when she's imagining him with her and she's older, as she wanders down the path they followed when they were young...and when she's old, she remembers him...or it could be she passes away and meets up with him again in the after life. Either way, this makes me cry, and I love it all the same!
