This is still the best Dragon Ball Movie I've ever seen. Broly's character, both him and Gogeta finally being canonized, superb animation... That was HEAVEN, i'll tell you that
@@TC_romannThe story is told through Broly's screams , expressions and body language. He is expressing dissociative rage because he understands that his dad is telling him to kill innocent people but has also been raised to obey everything he says. Then when Paragus dies Broly loses his mind and just wants to destroy everything around him bc he lost his reason for living. In the last phase of the fight, Broly has calmed down and he's just trying not to die, expressing genuine fear on his face. If that ain't storytelling idk what is man.
@@TC_romann Dragonball Z and Super doesn't really have real story. It's all about fighting and yelling at each other. The best "story" was in Z till first ssj transformation. After it doesn't even matter, you can easily skip an arc without noticing a big difference. People die, come back to live, die again, you have ssj 1,2 and 3, energy beams and staring contests, that's all. It's made for kids
i dont think thats a good critique as the first 1/3 of the movie is all exposition and scenes form the sayians past and the fights didnt overstay their welcome, whenever they fought it really feels like its for a reason and not just dragging it out, and then the movie ends with one of the most awesome scenes in dragon ball imo thats not related to fighting at all
Reminds me of when people complain about the Godzilla films having too much fighting, and not enough story and character. As if people go to those movies, and get turned off by the monsters fighting too much.
I actually saw that movie in theaters, when it came out. It was one of the best best cinema experiences I ever had. Imagine a etire theather full of Dragon Ball fans and everyone was stunned from the animation and the sounds of the impacts. That was one unforgettable night.
you're so right! every impact sound literally SHOOK the theater! you could feel it in your bones! a great way to express how hard they were hitting each other.
They used CG there for a moment because they broke reality and sort of entered a different dimension. So basically Gogeta and Broly changed the animation to CG when they broke reality
@@vjay6167 Of course animation studios use cgi here and there but very rarely they use cgi character models. I don't remember them creating any scenes before this that were fully dedicated to using cgi character models
I was literally in theatre watching this as a non dragon ball fan when my friend invited me and I got excited at first because I thought we were gonna watch Godzilla but instead we watched this and this is what started my interest in anime
4:30 That's EXACTLY it lmao, that's basically what this movie was promoted for, the return of Broly, and Gogeta, having a fight, they basically spoiled the return of Gogeta in the trailer cause they KNEW it would sell even more
I've read that for the Gundam series, some animators grew up watching it so it was a dream-come-true to work on the property. I could imagine the same could be said for people working on DBZ. GT was a love-letter to the series that is under-appreciated, especially for the animation.
Naotoshis art style is so fluid and vibrant he’s done so many scenes people love and for the start of the movie I loved shintanis style aswell this was easily the best DB movie ever
The timing of this video was perfect, because I just watched Dragon Ball Super: Broly last night because it was leaving Netflix. I had never watched Dragon Ball, either. It was insane!
If you have time watch it trust me its peak and if u wanna start it start watching it from the OG Dragon ball then DBZ or DBZ kai (I would recommend DBZ Kai) then super and then DBS BROLY movie
4:28 you are kinda right, multiple games have had intros where gogeta and broly fought even though that has never happened, and it was awesome to finally see it
Been loving these dragon ball reactions. There's so much content with dragon ball, and i can guarantee that if u are able to get into all the episodes and movies, you won't be disappointed
This was Legendary. Making Gogeta Cannon. Giving broly characterization he deserves and even humanizing him. This is peak dragonball. One of the best movies of dragonball, even retconning on how goku was sent to earth. Everything about this movie from the animation to the fight scenes was absolutely on par.
Bro, watching this in theaters was INSANE. Legit the best experience I had I'm my entire life, specially because mine was full of people screaming the final kamehameha scene. The impact sounds literally sounded like explosions in my ears like I was taking that shit, it was surreal.
Fun fact about this film, they changed the animation of Dragon Ball Super in this movie to make the fighting scenes more flexible for the characters movements!
Anyone can say whatever they want about dragon ball but there’s anime or even show in general that can match the hype peoples have whenever it comes to fighting.
4:48 Also yes, probably decades (the original broly story came out in the 90s i think... it was non-cannon and despite being a behemoth, he was just a big baby) I saw this in the theater with my boss and my best friend, the WHOLE theater was going NUTS during this scene (including us)
My biggest regret is not watching this on cinema😭 it was so fucking epic when I watched it on my ipad but imagine the theatre, how fucking awesome it would be🔥
Fun fact The Dragon ball z Budokai 3 playstation 2 game had Gogeta from fusion reborn fighting Dragon ball z broly as the intro so seeing this fight was a dream come true for me
If you think the CG is a bit odd (it is don't get me wrong.) You could consider watching a clip or 2 from the latest DBS movie "Superhero." It's mostly a new type of CG animation but DAMN it looks good.
I don't understand why he doesn't watch the anime unstead of just watching the fights I don't think it's will be funny if he just watched naruto and one piece fights and don't watch the actual anime
Naotoshi Shida is a Godly animator. He animated most of this fight. If I remember correctly it took him 3 months. Wathcing this in cimena was something else.
