The Brotherhood ranking system is very much similar to a modern day military. You start as an Aspirant, and then from there can either become a Scribe, basically a desk jockey, repair, computer work that sort of thing, or you take more of a combat/security role and become a Squire to a Knight, and then from there can become a Paladin. Theres more ranks but thats the general gist.

Regarding the opening setting - it takes place in "the future" as envisioned in the 50's, before transistors (and thus largely without recognizable electronics / miniturization) and inspired by the new promise of cheap abundant nuclear power.

Fallout is a great example of "retro futurism". The opening scene is set in 2077 but it's the idea of 2077 as viewed by people living in the 1950s. That's why they don't have things like microprocessors or flat-screen TVs because they didn't envision those in the 50s and why fusion energy is so important.

I was doing a Tale of Two Wastelands (Fallout 3 in the Fallout New Vegas engine) with the modlist Begin Again when this show went out, incredible timing. I recommend it if you want to experience those games ^^

Fallout 4 would be the best start because it's easier to get into without fully understanding the universe of Fallout. But it can be summed up by lost family members.

The nuking in fallout takes place in 2077 with the tv show taking place in 2296, and each game taking place prior to the show story.

I thought I was done watching Fallout reactions I'm watching like 6 right now, but I like your insights and how you pay attention so I guess I'm watching 7. lol I love watching reactions from folks who haven't played the games. I'm so glad it lands with y'all because as a big fan of the games I can say it's one of if not THE best adaptation of something I've ever seen.

New Vegas is the most beloved, and most people think its the best, but it has a bit of jank, 4 is the most "user friendly" and modern, but its also the worst RPG out of the 3 modern Fallout games. I recommend NV, but you might have to mod it a bit.

Fallout New Vegas is the best Fallout in terms of lore and freedom of choice for your character. Fallout 4 is the best Fallout game for its modernity and graphics. If you really want to get into Fallout games, Fallout 4 is a great place to start. Unlike most Bethesda games, your character speaks in Fallout 4 (some see this as a negative, others as a positive).

Is that a Hylian shield I see in the background? Cool. Good luck getting into the Fallout universe. My first Fallout was New Vegas and I recently started playing Fallout 3. On one hand I'd recommend New Vegas as your first game, but since it's sometimes considered best of the three (modern Fallout games) maybe you should instead start with 3 or 4.

Without saying any spoilers, New Vegas is the game that directly relates to this show, and the second season will pretty much require some game knowledge to fully appreciate what we're about to see. You can try your luck just running it and hoping, or you can take 30 min to an hour and use Viva New Vegas. It's a mod guide to make the game stable, you can skip the optional mods and just go for stability, and you'll have no issues with the game.

Bombs dropped in 2077. But the whole game has a 1950s retro-futuristic astatic. It's inspired by how people in the 50s imagined the future would look like. The lore reason for that is that in this world transistors were never invented.

Fallout New Vegas or Fallout 4 would be the best places to start in my opinion, Fallout 3 really isn’t as popular, although it has some of a cult following. New Vegas is older and so definitely has some rougher areas on the gunplay and things like that- the best way to think of New Vegas isn’t as a classic shooter RPG, but as an immersive sim, where a lot of the fun of the game is around building a unique character and seeing in what ways they can interact with the world- just as a tiny little example, you can make your character need glasses, so they get a buff while wearing glasses but a debuff while not having them. Apply that kind of idea to a bunch of different things and you can try to interact with the world in a unique way, interesting dialogue, etc. I really don’t think Fallout 4 lives up to this, and the dialogue especially really upset me with Fallout 4, some of the “charisma check” options can be so bad it’s comical. Yet Fallout 4 does have a lot going for it- the gunplay is much better, it’s fun to explore the different areas- if you liked Skyrim, Fallout 4 is very similar.

If you play, I suggest you play "Fallout 4", hard mode, {survival recommended}. Not a fan of the others but this series was based off Fallout 4 so yeah, enjoy...💖

Most people will say to play New Vegas. I think Fallout 4 has better gameplay, but a more uninspired story. The Far Harbor dlc is pretty fire though.

Just a side note for playing the Fallout games. I would recommend playing Fallout 4 as your first Fallout game if you are coming straight from the show. Otherwise, I would recommend Fallout 3 and New Vegas due to their superior writing and choices available. Fallout 4 is the most polished experience, but it does rob you of proper roleplay and characters worth remembering.

If after watching this show, you’re willing to really sit down and mod the games for performance, consider using Tale of Two Wastelands to play both Fallout 3 and New Vegas as one experience with tons of bug fixes. Otherwise, the download guide for TTW has a lot of helpful mods to help New Vegas run in a way more suitable for modern machines.

It would be sick to see New Vegas at least.

Was hoping you'd react to this show. Definitely need to give the games a try. I'll say if you are for sure gonna play all 3 then of course go 3, NV, then 4. But if you are gonna just try 1 out then go fallout 4. New Vegas is the better rpg but shows its age gameplay wise. 4 is still great though. Personally, its probably my favorite

Don’t let any particular vocal section of the fanbase push you. Each Fallout has its own reasons for being good. I’ll add the caveat I have not and never will touch fallout 76 so can’t tell you how it is.

You should play fallout 4 and then play fallout new vegas. Fallout 4 is more starter friendly and gets you invested more in the beginning. while new vegas builds and builds and builds throughout the whole game.

If you are gonna play one of the games pls pls PLS play Fallout 4, NV is great but it is old and laggy and crashes all the time and its way harder

The consensus among fans is that New Vegas is the best. I'm one of them, and I agree. It's a better rpg with deeper systems. It's also extremely janky regardless of platform and looks uglier by the day. 4 is the best spot for a new player to dive in. Its gunplay is far cleaner, the world is prettier and more varied, and the interface is smoother. It's a similar situation to how many Elder Scrolls fans (myself again included), call Morrowind their favorite even though it has aged poorly. Have fun regardless of your choice.

I think its probably best to start with fallout 4. Especially since its getting a brand new update tomorrow that fixes performance and enhances the graphics

Keep in mind that what your watching here isnt really Fallout per say, just what Bethesda years ago decided to plunder from the original games for the casual open world shooter being regurgitate as what Amazon, comapny known for creating media of rahter dubious quality, thinks makes for a good TV show. Its painful to watch as someone who has been a fan of the series for decades.

Fallout doesn’t need to be modded to work right 🤡 I won’t watch whatever you put out because you said that. I played on PC, but ig we all have our preferences.

You should try fallout! Any of them really .they all have a unique vibe, i would start by fallout 3
