I grew up watching both Messi and Ronaldo from the start of their careers. It's kinda sad that their careers are about the end soon. But after watching them for over 15 years I have to say this: Ronaldo is a phenomenal goal scorer but Messi is not just a phenomenal goal scorer but a phenomenal playmaker and a genius, A god amongst men. Thats why I would say that Messi is my clear choice for the GOAT.

To be perfectly honest, I feel like anyone who really understands football or has played football at a high level would agree that Messi is the best of our generation. Perhaps the best of all time even, but the Maradonas and Peles etc were before my time so it's not fair to comment on youtube highlights, also because the game has changed so much with regards to sports science/nutrition/tactics etc. But alas, in my opinion, Messi blows his contemporary Ronaldo (CR7) out the water. Ronaldo was absolutely amazing, and I feel like a lot of people fanboy over one or the other saying one is good/one is bad which is absolutely incorrect...But, just shows how outrageously good Messi was (and still is) that I really don't see any debate there. He could playmake, he could dribble, and he could score goals at an absolutely freakish rate - the complete package. I highly doubt I'll see another like him in my lifetime, though I hope I'm wrong because he was an absolute joy to watch growing up.
