Here's your list so far 1. The Chads (Dark Angels) 2. REDACTED LEGION 3. Purple people don't get laid (Emperor's Children) 4. The Incels (Iron Warriors) 5. Speedy bois (White Scars)
In the old lore, this was so players could make their own original chapters. But after the Heresy books was made, we know have the lore that they where killed of and removed from history, before the horus herecy. We do not know why, but apparently what they did was so bad even the chaos marines do not talk about it.
@@haraldbredsdorff2699 It's so bad Malchador apparently removed the memories of them and what they'd done from the Primarchs. Ironically, this was probably a motivator for multiple traitor primarchs, as they thought they would be next to suffer the same fate due to their failings.
With the 4th legion Iron warriors, people often focus on the primarch's negatives, he was/is a very bitter man but that's because he and his legion fought the most and the worst bloodiest battles for the Emperor and received no recognition for it nor asked for thanks. Perturabo (Peter Turbo) was a great inventor who literally wrote the book for sieges that the Imperium still uses today, they also briefly saved the Imperium from a gigantic Ork Waaaagh that could've destroyed the imperium.
The Ciaphis Cain books are really good but part of the draw of them is reading them while having read the other books so you can enjoy the comparison between the sometimes goofy antics of Cain and the more grimdark aspects of other books. The Gaunt's Ghosts series is one of the best 40K lines and the third book, Necropolis is my favourite of the lot. Each book of the series is chock full of characters, emotion and action.
i feel like the grimdark in Cains books is completely overlook. What he and his comrades go trough is messed up. From him having to mercy kill his own students, his comrades committing suicide or left to die a brutal death and altho he doesnt show it much, that stuff messed him up.
@@firmak2 Of course, the Emperor only knows what that Chaos warlord did to those Sisters of Battle that caused them to commit suicide instead of going out killing heretics. Stuff like the people talking about how brave Cain was telling the troopers to get some mops and to clean up the mess hall the Valhallans wrecked before they became the 587th is relatively speaking, goofy when you compare it to the Daemonculabra.
@@Sujad " Stuff like the people talking about how brave Cain was telling the troopers to get some mops and to clean up the mess hall the Valhallans wrecked before they became the 587th is relatively speaking, goofy" and it is one of my favorite moments in all of his books( i have also read them all), but thats my point, people always say Cain is a lighthearted read compared to shit like "Ahriman" or "Fabious Bill" but it has some messed up things. Also mentioning the Daemonculabra, for me that wasnt nearly as messed up as when that rougue trador or inquisitor (forgot which) followed that tech priest trough the processing plant for servitors, the description of a young lords childhood "toy", or that shantytown of skinless mutant people who are thankfull to finally die for something.
Yeah, the Ciaphis Cain books are mostly great because of the contrast to everything else in the Warhammer 40k universe. Gaunt's Ghosts is probably some of the best quality 'serious' 40k fiction. Abnett is great.
@@jasonnewman3355 The Eisenhorn and Ravenor series are also really good reads. They'd actually be a pretty good starting point as well. Books like the Inquisition War series should be kept till back in the queue a bit though if you like Dr. Who, you'd probably enjoy those books more.
There are alot of theories on what happened to the 2nd and 11th legions. The main one is that there were a bunch of genetic defects in their geneseed and were purged and censored in order to save face. What is canon is that its a very uncomfortable subject for the Emperor and the Primarchs whenever they are brought up, that the 2nd legion's primarch was a stoic party pooper(According to Fulgrim, Purple People's Primarch), and the 11th was good friends with Lorgar, and his [redacted] hit him hard, according to Word Bearers who referenced it.
" its a very uncomfortable subject for the Emperor and the Primarchs whenever they are brought up" to be more exact about the primarchs, Malcador made them unable to recollect the memories of the unknown legions. Bile i think knows about atleast one legion. I remember hearing a theory or on the wiki that one of the reasons the Ultramarines were so numerous was because they absorbed a large portion of the forgotten legions. One theory was that they faught an especially vicious alien race capable of mind control and took control of one of the 2 primarchs and theyr legion.
If you're referring to Rangdan wars, then yes, it's heavily implied. There was a (heavily redacted in-universe and out) note about that conflict from GW, which states that II and XI took part in it and whatever happened to them was so messed up that all Marines were killed and the Legiones effectively unpersoned.
It's REALLY cool to see how much Bricky has developed since the faction videos. This one has a much tighter script and snappier presentation overall :)
So extra content: Dark Angels - The Dark Angel's Fallen, are Space Marines who went traitor during the Horus Heresy but did not side with Horus since they went traitor to gain independence for their planet. After the Heresy, many would ironically turn to chaos, but others are probably still normal - all are hunted the same, but if they believe in the SMALLEST possibility of any of their allies knowin or allying with a fallen they are not afraid of silencing or betraying them before or mid-battle. Lion'el's pretty much not nice, he believes in doing things by any means necessary and does not care about the feelings of others even going so far as to lie to his brothers when they made a very delicate alliance during the Heresy. 2nd Legion - Data was wiped, IRL reason was that 2 legions were made blank so that you could make a custom one in the past, lore reason was that they did something so bad that all of their information was purged, from data deletion to page burning, to memory wipes, the only people who still remember are a few of the primarchs (traitors iirc) and the Emperor himself who ordered the purge. Emperor's Children - They originally had a curse that mutated and killed them early in their Space Marine life, Fulgrim managed to cure it but it did cause some rumors. Fulgrim was transformed because of the sword in his hand that slowly corrupted him by the demon inside it. Their pride was huge, for good reason since their symbol was the Emperor's personal Aquila, but they also came from a world that was...Bland... Fulgrim hated how the world was boring and gray so he had his legion strive in everything to be as unique and colorful as possible. Iron Legion - Perturabo was pretty much the only reason the Horus Hersy went even remotely well for the traitor side, and he had a more understandable reason of joining. Perturabo was a builder and a creator at heart, he HATED war. His planet suffered war over and over while his dad (adoptive) kept praising the gods for blessing the planet with Pertrurabo. Perturabo ended all wars on his planet with his own war and when the Emps arrived to take him he thought he finally found someone who understood his vision. Instead, he was assigned to a legion whose sole purpose is to fight in the most destructive and attrition-filled warzones in the galaxy while another primarch was given the task to build the imperial palace. And he got NO RECOGNITION OR PRAISE, from either side. White Scars - The 'roast god' nickname for Jaghatai was from a book where Fulgrim belittled him for something about his troops, something along the lines of "I don't here much from your troops Jaghatai", to which he responds "And I here you DO things to yours." Referencing the weird curse cure.
The best part of buying a powerful gaming desktop computer is that if you buy it, and decide to never play games again, its fine. The computer can still be used to run cool software for video editing, photo editing, much faster rendering than a laptop can handle. It can run physics simulations, help you do anything you are interested in better. It wont be a waste of money! I cant wait to see what you get.
@@HannaHsOverInvested dunno if you will see this, but probably not. Some parts of it are fine to get second hand, some are not. If you intend on building it yourself or have someone build it for you, I suggest getting a new graphics card and power supply. Cryptocurrency miners will use these parts extensively and then flip them when they become less profitable than a part on the market, and they will have been running at 100% capacity for many months.
Honestly, not even for video material, but some of the Primarchs have really in depth and somewhat tragic backstories. The reason why the Iron Warriors primarch was depicted with a young girl is because he wasn't always bitter and evil. His upbringing and lack of perceived respect and recognition made him that way.
Legion II and as you'll see (SPOILERS AHEAD) in further part Legion XI "officially" have never existed. All records about them in Imperial archives were destroyed and thus little is known about them. As far as I know it was originally made this way by Games Workshop, so that players could have freedom in creating their own Space Marine chapters with assumption that one of those Legions was loyal and one traitor. But as Horus Heresy books were slowly released across the last 16 years, few small details were also included about those 2 Legions changing a little original purpose: - it's still the fact that all records were destroyed. Even sculptures showing 2 lost Primarchs in inner parts of Imperial Palace on Terra, where all Primarchs used to have their chambers prepared by Emperor. - It was a great tragedy what happened to both lost Primarchs and their Legions. - There's very high possibility that Emperor used his psyker powers to affect memories of humans who knew about those two Legions. Or in typical Imperium way such people were just literally purged or affected in way that they couldn't speak anymore about those Legions (for example made into lobotimized mindless Servitors) - The only people who still knew about them were Emperor himself, his closest aide and someone similar to a friend - Malcador the Sigillite, other Primarchs and possibly his personal guard - Adeptus Custodes. Though Primarchs were forced by Emperor to make vow to never speak of "lost" brothers and their Legions again. - Because of the above point we know that whatever happened to both Legions happened during the Great Crusade after the last Primarch was found but some time before events leading to Horus Heresy started. - As far as I know Space Marines of one of lost Legions (most likely II) have been literally purged - it's possible that they had some kind of mutation that affected them heavily, made them unable to be used in any way and couldn't have been cured even when Primarch was found, possibly even affected Primarch himself and thus made purge the only option. Emperor supposedly used Legion VI - Space Wolves to perform this purge. There are few others Legions that had negative side effects that almost caused similar action towards whole Legion, but they were cured once Primarch was found - like for example Legion XV - Thousand Sons - It's not stated directly, but it's heavily suggested that Space Marines of other Legion (most likely XI) were incorporated into ranks of Legion XIII - Ultramarines, as their number grew rapidly at one point during Great Crusade in a way that would be impossible with normal "recruitment" process. - There're some theories due single line in one of most recent rulebooks for tabletop game (January this year) that Primarch of Legion XI is imprisoned in stasis in one of secret vaults under Imperial Palace.
Fun fact. The first legion is the Dark Angels lead by Lion'el Johnson Lionel Johnson IRL is a poet that wrote a poem called The Dark Angel (probably about how he was gay but he's a catholic and it's the 1800s) The Dark Angel DARK Angel, with thine aching lust To rid the world of penitence: Malicious Angel, who still dost My soul such subtile violence! Because of thee, no thought, no thing, Abides for me undesecrate: Dark Angel, ever on the wing, Who never reachest me too late! When music sounds, then changest thou Its silvery to a sultry fire: Nor will thine envious heart allow Delight untortured by desire. Through thee, the gracious Muses turn, To Furies, O mine Enemy! And all the things of beauty burn With flames of evil ecstasy. Because of thee, the land of dreams Becomes a gathering place of fears: Until tormented slumber seems One vehemence of useless tears. When sunlight glows upon the flowers, Or ripples down the dancing sea: Thou, with thy troop of passionate powers, Beleaguerest, bewilderest, me. Within the breath of autumn woods, Within the winter silences: Thy venomous spirit stirs and broods, O Master of impieties! The ardour of red flame is thine, And thine the steely soul of ice: Thou poisonest the fair design Of nature, with unfair device. Apples of ashes, golden bright; Waters of bitterness, how sweet! O banquet of a foul delight, Prepared by thee, dark Paraclete! Thou art the whisper in the gloom, The hinting tone, the haunting laugh: Thou art the adorner of my tomb, The minstrel of mine epitaph. I fight thee, in the Holy Name! Yet, what thou dost, is what God saith: Tempter! should I escape thy flame, Thou wilt have helped my soul from Death: The second Death, that never dies, That cannot die, when time is dead: Live Death, wherein the lost soul cries, Eternally uncomforted. Dark Angel, with thine aching lust! Of two defeats, of two despairs: Less dread, a change to drifting dust, Than thine eternity of cares. Do what thou wilt, thou shalt not so, Dark Angel! triumph over me: Lonely, unto the Lone I go; Divine, to the Divinity.
The second legion we don’t know much about because they were destroyed then expunged from records like the 11th legion by the emperor for some reason I actually forgot the reason tho hope that answers your question
We don't know anything about either legion, other than they existed and were expunged from all Imperial records and the traitor legions don't reference them, either. There's a few hints and nods to their fate in various places that has led to a lot of fan speculation over the decades, but ultimately nothing concrete. One of the main theories is they were destroyed in the Rangdan Xenocides, since we know one or both legions fought in those campaigns. The Rangdan, however, were like a mashup of Animorph's Yerks, the thing from John Carpenter's "The Thing," and the xenomorphs from "Alien." It's possible the legions and their primarchs were infested or possessed by the Rangdan, resulting in their purge. Imperials don't bring them up because they don't want to disrupt the image of Space Marines as demigods, while Chaos doesn't want to admit they can be corrupted by xenos. My own personal headcannon is one (or both) of the primarchs was a woman and was purged to prevent Space Marines overtaking humanity as a new super species, while another of the lost primarchs landed on an alien planet and was raised by xenos. So when the Emperor and the other primarchs found them, that primarch refused to betray the aliens who raised them. These two ideas explain why neither traitors nor loyalists bring up the lost legions, without having to hand wave things away with time travel/memory wipe shenanigans.
there is also another legion. which is the legion of the damned. which is a mysterious legion who's origins are extremely speculated on. They appear when the imperium is in most trouble and then vanish if they weren't there. they're appearance is that of Space marines in charred black armor and are on fire constantly. They have flaming skulls for heads. - some believe them to be a regular space marine chapter who got lost in the warp but came back as Imperial Daemons. - or, they are the vengeful spirits of fallen space marines who want vengeance for the betrayal during the horus heresy, who's duty still lives on. They are supposedly lead by the headless corpse of the primarch Ferrus manus of the iron hands legion.
The thing about the Gamer Supps cups is that once they are sold out, that’s it they are gone. Only other place to find them is like eBay for a lot more then they are worth. As stated by others at this point 2nd and 11th legions (known as the Purged and Forgotten, don’t ask me which is which though) were removed from all Imperial Knowledge. In fact when Horus tried to say the primarchs of those legions names, Malcador (Big E’s BFF and regent of the Imperium) almost killed him by force choking him.
cardinal rule of WarHammer 40K... we don't speak of the 2nd or 11th Legion... they were expunged from the history records and knowing about em, besides the Emperor or the Primarchs, is straight up heresy that could condemn you to death, just like the knowledge of the existence of the Gray Knights.
TL;DR 2nd legion made a fucky wucky big enough that the Emperor wiped them off the face of galaxy and buried the knowledge. No one knows what that was, it was referenced few times in the fluff, but no details. It's a mystery to this point.
Just two 40k books? That’s how it starts. Soon you’ll have to buy more bookshelf’s. The Cain books are probably the best to start with. Don’t be afraid to google whatever nouns you don’t recognize, there’s basically a 40k wiki for everything. Pro-tip - compare prices when buying secondhand books, you may get it in an omnibus (a compendium of the story, usually 3+ books in one, sharing a story arc, like the complete arc usually) they are usually cheaper and newer released than buying all individual books separately. 40k books are amazing, usually, and will devour whatever expendable income you have if you let it.
Hi hannah Weekly reminder of sean bean + civilization 6. Also i would suggest you extra credits channel. I am back here with a random other recommendation, Tales from the Jedi dropped recently which is an anthology series about Ahsoka and Dooku before the Clone Wars. The Dooku episodes where really great and I think you would enjoy them ^^
When space marines expunge records, they are very thorough. So much so, that in the imperium, when people count to 20, they might just inadvertently skip 2 and 11.
@@firmak2 nah, the third legion is still the third legion. It's like if you use hexadecimal in normal conversation, where 10 comes after F. People are confused because they just don't understand 10 as anything but 10, but if you're old school and used to code in assembly, 10 might just have 6 more numbers before it than you're used to.
@@firmak2 hmm. come to think of it, hotel floors might be a better example. There's no 13th floor in a lot of western hotels, and there's no 4th floor in a lot of eastern hotels. You just count past those numbers.

I know you are not short of videos to watch but I would love to see your reaction to "The Reunion" and the "Squadron 42 Cinematic Teaser" . The Reunion is a short story from the game Star Citizen, arguably the most ambitious and expansive games ever created and the most expensive game game ever to develop. It has raised over $500 million USD over 10 years of development and still is years away from completion, although it is now playable in an Alpha state (Not Feature Complete). If you like The Reunion there are lots more shorter in lore Spaceship ads which are really well done (I can provide you w/ a list if you'd like). Anyway keep up the work - it always makes me smile. Love from Kangaroo Land
The missing legions were created by the writers so players could make up their own legions and have them fit the lore, in-universe they are only ever referred to as "REDACTED"
Bricky repeatedly says twenty Primarchs and legions which is both correct and incorrect. Two primarchs were removed in the same way those men in the picture around Stalin were made to disappear. The marines that would have been descended from those primarchs were reassigned to other legions (mainly the Ultra Marines). The II and XI primarchs were the ones who were expunged.

The Cinematic in the Intermission at 13:50 ist the "Warhammer: The Horus Heresy - Cinematic Trailer". ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--0Se57MuiL8.html A little short and fast living, but still awesome and it shows the scale of armies (and single warmachines) participating in the civil war of the imperium in 30k.
Yes, that beginning is Bricky shilling for Gamer Sups, an energy drink company that caters to the “typical” gamer (teenage boys) by selling special sip shaker cups with anime-style hot women (know. Colloquially as “waifus”). Bricky is not afraid to shill and not afraid to meme. And that company is apparently very willing to let him shill in whatever way he wants. They sponsored him when he did a video review of Subverse, a porn game. Not joking.
Bricky is funny and entertaining but kind of shit at explaining things. He gets so focused on stuff that he knows and understands that he seems to forget some people don't and leaves out key info.

Games Workshop deliberately left everything about the II and XI legions a blank slate for people to be able to make their own unique Space Marine Chapters/Legions in their own campaigns at home. In the official lore all records of them have been expunged for unknown reasons, though the Horus Heresy novels do hint that they did something very bad to earn being stricken from history. The Emperor even went as far as to outlaw even speaking the names of the 2 legions. I think Bricky's description of Lion El'Johnson is slightly unfair. When the Lion landed on Caliban as a baby he landed in the woods and wasn't discovered by any humans until after he was already essentially an adult and it's reflected in his complete and utter lack of any kind of social skills. He was quite possibly the best strategist and tactically brilliant, often times being able to simply glance at the map and have his strategy worked out completely in only a few seconds. He was not very good at things like saying thank you or letting others know he appreciated them due to how he was raised, or not raised as the case may be.
@@HannaHsOverInvested Probably already explained but Legions 2 and 11 were meant to be the DIY Legion before they went harder with the lore. In the current Lore both legions did something so horrible that they've been erased from all Imperial history. They even removed them from some of the memories of the other Primarchs. Rogal Dorn of the Imperial Fists at one point confronted the Emperor's second in command Malcador about why he'd removed the memories of Two and Eleven from him and forced him to give them back. Basically once he got them back he was like "Yeah removing this was the right thing. Please take them away again"
Context: The jumpscare-bits reference two Legions that were "PURGED FROM ALL RECORD OOH SPOOKY AND GRIMDARK." Real truth, back in the day (and I do mean like, WAY BACK) before Warhammer 40k was the title, it was Rogue Trader in the 80s. They made 20 legions (not the same as our current ones) where two of them were "Make your own legion!" options. So the new, more serious lore has to reconcile that somehow. Also, you do NOT like the Fallen. They had a falling out (heh) with the regular Dark Angels over basically personal pride and being too old for the new cool kids in the legion, a lot of stuff went down to make bad blood between Lion el'Jonson the Chad Knight and his adoptive dad, Luther (also dubbed the Arch-Betrayer). It's basically just the King Arthur vs Mordred thing.
Hi! I come from the future. Just wanted to point out that the two missing legions were never meant to be "Make your own Legion" type of deal. Please, spread awareness of false community head-canon!
Fun fact: The purged two legions were originally purged, not because of a great sin that they have committed, but because they had managed to redeem themselves in the eyes of the Imperium. They still couldn't continue to exist due to the crime they had committed in the first place, but by redeeming themselves they were allowed to have that sin expunged from all records and their shame to being forgotten. That was Rick Priestleys original intend behind the redaction of the two legions, but got horrible misinterpreted by later GW writers. It's a bit ironic, because the misinterpretation of events and information is kiiiinda a big cornerstone of the early Warhammer 40'000 (which was in large part written by Priestley). And then it happened to Priestley IRL.
I enjoyed the alternate look at The Fallen and the Dark Angels as a whole in the book Angels of Darkness (by Gav Thorpe) through the eyes of Merir Astelan, former Chapter Commander of the Dark Angels.
Yeah, yet I must say that the Fallen aren't all Chaos Marines. Nor should they be. Sure, they're not gonna rejoin an Imperium that became everything they hated, but they're not entirely black knights. Just look at Cypher. ;)
I never understood the Iron Warriors. Yes, they have chosen to wage brual wars of attrition. And then they cry that they are not the shining heroes, like other legions? And so what? Well, the Space Wulves were the most ungrateful hangman of the imperium, before the Horus Heresy. And I have never heard a complaint from them. ^^ PS: It`s also verey ironic that Perturabo hated psykers and later in the Civil War he joined the side that worships gods from the warp.
The Dark Angels are loyal. So loyal that they are ashamed of the members of their ranks you went heretic and so want to hunt them all down, including all knowledge of them, and erasing them from existence so they can go back to being loyal LOL
Seeing your reaction to the Creepy Thomas The Tank Engine, you may enjoy looking up a game called "Choo Choo Charles." It's an open world game made by one person. I've backed it on Patreon. Looks pretty dope.
I love that your starting to enjoy WH40k! Sometimes it’s nice to just delve into a universe with the express purpose of it being over the top levels of drama and action. Like ancient Grecian hero’s turned up to 11 and the knob broken off levels of adventures.
The part I struggle with is who are the good guys, and that there are no good guys, and what do I do when I have nobody to cheer for because I like cheering for the good guys people. The other part is struggle with is is this video game or board game or just a painting game? Cause I'm still very unclear on that.
@@HannaHsOverInvested Basically the idea is that rather than rooting for any particular "good guy", since there are none, it's more like everyone gets to choose their personal favorite bad guy to root for. Like choosing a favorite Sith Lord from Star Wars. In terms of how to interact with the universe, there are MANY ways. The main way is through the tabletop wargame. This is the part that you call the painting game. Basically you buy boxes of the little figures, build them, paint them up, and then battle them against someone else's army. The rules come in a textbook called a Codex, and every army has their own codex that explains the rules for the specific units of that army. There are also lots of videogames and books set in the universe.
@@HannaHsOverInvested there are no good factions but there are so many stories of good people just trying to do the best they can against overwhelming odds. That’s why I like the setting.
@@HannaHsOverInvested there are 40K video games, board games, tabletop RPGs, and miniature wargames - it all started with the miniatures game and expanded from there :)
@@HannaHsOverInvested Technically it’s all three as there have been video games like dawn of war, you play the game of various terrain boards and you paint your armies; and root for the Imperium without them mankind is screwed.

He also just started a new series going into details on factions other than the 20 legions during the Heresy. Ian is great because he doesn't spout off meme lore and because he's been playing the game long enough he knows the history of Games Workshop.

If no one else said it the 2nd and 11th Primarch ended up knee deep in really really really bad shit. Shit so bad that the Emperor saw it as so bad they needed to be erased from existence. So in all records they are simply *Contents Redacted* If you catch on. No one knows what really happened so far it has been left a mystery to the fans who have created many many fan theory's.
13:55 That was a part of the Horus Heresy Trailer. It was trailer promoting Horus Heresy era minis. It's cool, shows a little about the scale of things.
Some say that the Sons of Malice are the mysterious 2nd Legion who went into hiding. This would make sense as to why they would’ve been expunged as being officially recognized as the second Legion as the Sons of Malice are well… Let’s just say they do things that make even Chaos wish they didn’t exist… If you wanna know more about that mysterious group I’d suggest you read up because most of it was expunged from Imperial Records and honestly what is known is horrifying. P.S That scene you saw in the intermission was the Horus Hersey underway and the legions of Horus and the Emperor going into full scale war against each other… FUN! 😂
