Nate and Chuck dropping everything and going to Blair's bc Serena needed help even though they weren't talking to each other and fighting over Blair was one of the best moments of the shows. It shows that the end of the day they really did care a lot and truly never judged each other. Dan could've never. They helped first asked questions later.
Which is why I’m sooo mad they took it off Netflix and I never got to finish it 😭 I don’t even remember what season I was on so I’m gonna have to watch the entire thing over
The fact that Dan tried his hardest to be apart of this group is too funny to me😭 like no matter how much this group argues they always come through for each other
But Dan did join the group and help them on many occasions. Even participated in their schemes. And he did it for his friends unlike the four mentioned above.
@@averagestudent1158 um rewatch the show... all four of them did everything and anything for each other no matter how much they argued!!! Dan was selfish and did so many things to them to benefit himself for starters that first book he wrote oh and the fact that he was Gossip Girl and all he did was judge them while none of those four never judged
Not to be too serious lol but as someone who went to private and boarding schools with basically the same kids from kindergarten through high school, there's definitely a weird bond that forms with those who essentially grow up together, and even if you basically hate some of them, you're strangely protective of them too. And newer kids can't really break in easily. Gossip Girl definitely got that right. Dan, even if he had been the nicest guy, would've never been really accepted fully in the group bc he didn't go through everything they did and ultimately couldn't relate to their lives, goals, motivations at all.
The way these 4 carried the entire series on their backs... Gossip Girl could've been entirely about them and the show would have been just as good, if not better.
Yeah honestly, I hate how they made most of things about Dan, he should've just had a cameo or a few episodes but there was literally no main character energy
Their first time together in season1 was one of the best moments of the show. They helped her get in the shower, feed her, get her out of the bed. That's childhood besties. Friends who are comfortable with each other 24/7 Dan is just dirt underneath their building.
@@laneypearson I would look it at as a relapse. Once she came back from boarding school she wasn't doing all of the crazy things she did before, so them helping her again is because she went out partying, probably doing drugs and drinking and she was a mess from it.
This friendship was everything to me, it really made the show 10x better. I only think that it should have been Nate with Serena in the end. He understood her better than dan, dan was pretentious and entitled. Nate constantly proved he was worthy for Serena by being there for her even when he liked her and she didn't like him. honestly the show should've ended with Nate and Serena. I feel like it made no sense for Nate to end up with the other random and dan to be with Serena.
It doesn't matter if nate is better for Serena if she's not into him. She's just gonna cheat on him with Dan in the future And make a bigger mess. She might as well just acknowledge her feelings now
This group just shows you that sometimes you will terribly fight with your friends, but at the end of the day your true friends will have your back no matter what. Even CHUCK BASS looked genuinely concerned when he saw the state of Serena🥺🤞🏻
@@sagunrai8689 at the beginning of the show chuck was supposed to be a minor character an a bad guy but the writers later made him more of a main and turned him into a good guy and gave him a character development. Of course rape is a HORRIBLE thing and it shouldn't be forgiven but the writers tried to "erase" it. Also keep in mind that this was written in 2007 so it wasn't seen as serious as it is
@@Kris_sy yesss it’s gonna be all new people but it takes place in the same world, it’s a sequel. So they will reference the original characters, and I hope they update us on their lives now
i was in season 5 and thats like almost finishing it and then they took it off. i was gonna watch it on soap2day but the sound quality isnt the same and it isnt comfortable. im literally on the urge of telling my parents to get HBO max lol
Don’t get me wrong, this group was very iconic and carried the entire show on their backs. HOWEVER, it was by no means healthy. The fact that people are in the comments sayin this was a great friend group and they want something like this irl, scares me. The friend group was extremely toxic and broken. I can’t remember one episode when all of them got along, no tension, no disrespect, no hidden lies. It was always something with them. The dynamic itself was very toxic for example the fact that Serena literally slept with Nate when he was dating Blair, Blair and Serena constantly beefing, Chuck sleeping with Blair when she was dating Nate. The list goss on
People are idolizing the fact that they were still there for each other IN SPITE of all this. Which is dumb. All that you listed and more shouldn't be happening at all.
I never thought Chuck loved any of them as much as they were his possessions. Especially Blair and Nate even Serena was his step-sister eventually so it's like a narcissistic projection at best. If you pay attention Chuck will protect Nate and Blair but he never respects or takes any of their feelings into account.
одно из лучших в их дружбе было то, что даже после всего этого они оставались друзьями, они вообще не идеальны, но при этом они ценят и любят друг друга и на протяжении всего сериала вместе с друг другом
Everyone talking about these four being “the best of friends” definitely needs to redefine their definition of friendship. They may be supportive at times, but half the time it’s their own toxic relationships with one another that put them in those positions.
I miss experiencing gossip girl for the first time now I've probably watched over 10 times at least but it has been a few years so I might watch it again! The greatest teen TV show honestly nothing has come close to it since even the characters are still iconic! Chair forever ☺❤ Also Serenate should've been endgame.
i never really understood why would they.... ?They dated like 10 episodes in season 3, had something in season 4 and then barely were friends during season 5 and 6?? Serena was always going after Dan and Nate genuinely dated anyone who ever laid eyes on him, so idk why everyone thought they were gonna end up together
Everyone says Serena should have ended up with Nate but she didn’t deserve him, if anything I think her and Dan were both equally annoying and they deserved eachother
To everyone saying that this friend group is hella toxic and problematic and that no one should want this: 1. No one said they weren't toxic or problematic 2. Think of this as a very exaggerated version of real life. Real friendships and relationships never come without problems and complications. But no matter how much you argue or fight with each other, even if you're extremely upset with someone, if you're REAL friends, then you will be there for them when they seriously need you. You stay loyal to them even when you have problems with each other. You don't judge them for their mistakes because everyone's human and makes stupid decisions all the time. THAT is the message to take away from this group.
ngl i wouldn’t have watched a show where the friend group were all buddy buddy with each other all the time - like this is a show? yeah they weren’t a realistic portrayal of friendship but if i wanted a completely normal group i would’ve just looked at the people around me
I wish there had been flashbacks in the show showing them as children. Little 6 & 7 year olds playing together, little 12 year olds going through puberty together - it would have explained a lot!
I always wanted Serena and Nate to end up together Dan should’ve ended up alone Dan didn’t know Serena enough she couldn’t tell him everything but she did tell Nate everything.
No matter how much they fight, they hate each other, they always like always had each others backs.. no matter what happens they were together against the world and also gg Dan could never be a part of it...he's judgemental
I always wonder how hard each of these actors had to bite their tongues to perform these scenes. The last few seasons of this show were so terrible and every single one of them knew it but a contract is a contract.
@@phoenixp2350 the first 3 seasons had good writing and for the most part compelling story lines, but the last few seasons felt like the writers were writing each episode the day before they aired. it got so messy and nonsensical, like for instance the fact that Dan ended up being gossip girl made absolutely no sense.
I mean sure, they put each other through a lot of shit, but they genuinely care for each other and actually pull through when one of them needs help. That’s mostly how life works. Maybe not as dramatized as it is in the show, but at the end of the day it is a freaking tv show, it’s gonna be dramatic.
@@Sebisajiminstan just cause they care for eachother doesnt mean its health.. they have the most toxic worst friendship. dan was right they do horrible things to each other everyday and pretend like they are friends cause they have no one else
@@xkarlaas i think what the show tried to illustrate is this is how friendship works for the elite and honestly i feel like this is what it looks like lmaoooo
Exactly. All of this is toxic af and all i see is people praising it?? And the irony is that we look up to fake people & stories for our role models, expectations, inspirations. "Fake" as in this is all acting
Hot Takes on these ships: Chuck was emotionally abusive and manipulative to Blair. He only wanted her when he couldn’t have her and when he did get her, he would proceed to do the most horrific things to her. She also wanted to “fix” him. Nate was Serena’s second choice. She was only with Nate because she couldn’t have Dan. She constantly fought for Dan whenever they broke up but when her relationship with Nate ended, she didn’t even really seem to care. They should’ve all ended up with people that weren’t in their friend group.
