i agree kpop does take a lot of inspiration from western music but the "whole job" is not to be known in America, it's to be known period. The most successful groups are the ones who are huge in Korea and known in other parts of the world. If a group is not known in Korea, they aren't successful.

their "whole job" is to become famous in korea. yes they want as many fans as they can get from countries all over the world but as k-pop groups, no matter how popular they become in america, it means nothing if they are not liked by korea because it's their main source of money and success. what pissed me off is the typical american ignorance when people act like america is the center of the world 😒. also most k-pop groups are mainly inspired to enhance western music. in the end though, their job is to please the fans and make money for their company, this is just how the k-pop industry works

I do agree that the kpop industry is inspired by the American music industry but the kpop industry has their own uniqueness in music but also kpop groups are not really trying to become more known in America. The reason why kpop is becoming known in America is because BTS opened the doors for kpop, so now many music related labels, the charts, the awards, fashion magazines etc are getting curious about kpop groups. So that is why BTS, monsta x, and blackpink were invited to special events here in America. (I didn’t mention NCT because the stuff that they were doing in America was kind of like a test to see how they would do in America it’s similar to how they released Chain...well they were invited to one of those award shows but I forgot which one). Kpop is becoming popular in America very slowly you know. Before kpop groups can do stuff in America or other parts of the world they can to be known in their own country. If kpop groups don’t do well/become more known in their country, it is likely that the group will probably disband unless if their company decides to do some changes. Kpop groups have it hard cause if they don’t have the popularity than their dreams will be crushed.

5:51 no disrespect at all but i don’t think the whole job of a /korean/ artist is to be more know in America. Yes, the genre of music is inspired by American music but kpop artists are not trying to grab the attention of American music industries to become more famous over here. If that were the case they would not be under a Korean label or sing in the language. They’re job is to make pop music for the country of Korea. Not every single song is inspired by American music, in my opinion it sounds much different and just with hints of American music in them. i hope you guys will understand soon that America is not the only place to have pop music, and music is far more advanced than what it leads on.

Fyi, there are a lot of Korean-American Kpop artists. BM from Kard, J Park and many actors and singers that's not considered Kpop were born in America. So yeah, there's heavy western influence and in my opinion BTS does it best. I'm Army so I'm used to this flavor.
