The portion of 1John you have quoted is an interesting pericope and it even talks expressly against what you are trying to say if you had understood what it was saying, let me provide you a small background of the letter itself. You must have even check again why the verse is saying they must confess Jesus comes in flesh, didn't everyone knows that he came in flesh, that's why you should have know the passage is beyond just coming in flesh. John wrote his epistles at a time when apostasy was threatening the Church. Even though it had been only a few decades since the death of Jesus Christ, false teachers were teaching a “doctrine” different from that taught by the Apostles (see 2 John 1:9-10). Some claimed that Jesus Christ had not come in the flesh (see 1 John 4:1-3). Diotrephes, a local Church leader, refused to recognize John’s authority (see 3 John 1:9-10). The two major antichrist teaching was Docetism and Gnosticism, you can do more reading. The basic teaching of these schools during the apostle life was that Jesus was God and for that reason he can't come in the flesh, that the Jesus the people saw on earth just appear to be flesh and he is not flesh. Please get this understanding. These people acknowledge the divinity as opposed to what you are trying to say. So apostle John needs to intervene as the eldest apostle alive during the false teaching and say these words. More so, the verse you quoted needs to have started from the last portion of chapter three for you to grasp the idea The Docetism and Gnosticism emphasize the divinity of Christ but denied is humanity. And this teaching is antichrist because it only came from spirit of error. If you look at the portion you quoted, there was a capitalized 'Spirit', and the other spirit in small letters. So the author is comparing the source of the teaching these two school of thoughts are presenting. They were christians before but now have been taken by the spirit of error and deceit as opposed to the spirit of truth. So any spirit that does not confess Jesus Christ came in the flesh is antichrist implying that they can not only proclaim his divinity but must emphasize it's humanity. The young ruler called christ Good Master, and Christ needs to lead the man to the savior and not just a master. Adebisi, this is an excellent question and the first thing you need to understand is that this discourse does not indicate that the Holy Spirit will deliver new revelations, or ongoing revelations, or personal revelations. If you have read the bible or have any knowledge, you will remember that there are times when Jesus preach and the disciples will come to him later to ask for explanation or interpretation, for example, the parable. So Jesus is speaking of the teachings He delivered while on earth and how the Holy Spirit will guide them into further truths about these teachings. Like an average Jew, they could not totally understand how Jesus is God just like when the Pharisees requested that he should be crucify. To perfect understand the words of Jesus, the context should be understood and interpretation done within the context. Regardless, we have data that support that the Holy spirit gave further illumination to the disciples on the word that Jesus taught them and communicated higher mystery to them. If you are chanced, you can check the new testament for things communicated to the disciple by the Holy Spirit. You can check some of the following verses: 1 Corinthians 2:10, Galatians 1:12, Galatians 2:2, etc. The spirit further illuminates the disciples on trinity, universal salvation and the fact that salvation was not limited to the Jews, and an entire chapter dedicated to revelation of Christ, I can go on and on dear.

First, let's established that Jesus Christ disciple called him God - John 20:28, 2Peter 1:1, Roman 9:5, Jesus revealed his divinity to the disciples when he asked them who do people say the son of man is? (Mathew 16:13-20). The son of man is the revealed by prophet Daniel in Daniel 7:13-14 and the Jews in that day understand this title to be God. Second, the old testament was not originally written in English so you won't expect the direct word Jesus in the old testament but in Jews ancient language, the name messiah was captured and it was well understood by the early disciples and Jews in the days of Jesus. A prophet is not directly called a spirit anywhere in the bible. The closest you will get is "in the spirit of", "spirit of" and this does not implies it is a prophet. If these are read within the context where it was spoken, the understanding will be clear. Also, the verse you quoted that Jesus was called a prophet was to fulfill the prophecy of Moses - Deut 18:17-22. Jesus must fulfilled many prophecies in order to be received as the messiah by the Jews, so after the acceptance, he revealed a greater dimension of himself as God - son of man (mark 14:61-68) and that became the cause for crucifixion because the average Pharisee also did not fully comprehend his divinity when he came because they did not understand the mystery from the old testament until it was now revealed into them. The major thing I noticed in your response is how you have conflated the revelations in Daniel and isolate the fact that Jesus was called a prophet which I used in my explanation. Your link of this prophecy in Daniel is not totally accurate as this has been clearly explain in other discourse, especially the son of man in Daniel 7 which is well understood by Jews and evidence abound in second temple literature. Jesus fulfilled many old testament prophecy as you also noted some of it. For his divinity which has been the major issue, he claimed it before the Jews and this became one of the reasons he was crucified (Mark 14:61-67). His disciple also acknowledge him as God (2per 1:1, 2pet 2:20, Titus 2:13, John 20:26-29, ROM 9:4-5, 1tim 3:16) Please read these passages if you have the time and as well as the reaction of the Priest to the 'son of man's title during Jesus trial (Mark 14:61-67). Thank you bro for your feedback. Like we said in the discussion, Jesus Christ is the way the truth and life, so the spirit of truth bears witness to the truth which Jesus taught his disciples. If you were familiar with the bible, you will notice sometimes when Jesus teaches, the disciples will come to him in private to ask questions because they dont understand. So the spirit of truth is sent to guide them into what Jesus has taught them and give them insight into higher truth. Dont forget that when Jesus was alive, the new testament has not been written and the available books were the old testament. So the spirit of truth continue to reveal christ to the disciples in the old testament because the old testament is about Christ and the knowledge was not obvious to them in thag century

But no decision is as important as the one Jesus highlights in Matthew 7:13-14: “Enter through the narrow gate. An average Jew understand the prophecy about the spirit as promised in many major and minor prophets and confirm by the original disciples, Ezekiel 36:26, Ezekiel 11:19, Joel 2:28, Act 2:33, John 7:39, gal 3:14, etc. The two cases you mentioned was the beginning of the promise to every Jews.
