Okay but Hanzo spends so many years mourning his brother and when his brother appears in front of him he tries to kill him again, now that is an accurate representation of siblings I swear xD
I LOVE how goofy they were at the start, making jokes, and didnt pay close attention. And through story telling all 3 of them got sucked in and was watching as if it they were watching a movie. Thats Overwatch cinematic fo' ya
@@pittayayas No I'm just pointing it out because you said they were engrossed in the video but they managed to miss a character that took up a third of the screen lmao
A good genji will fuck her up or at the very least stay just out of range, probably won't win if he doesn't have a good team tho because he won't be able to cap or contest as effectively
@Barna Antal Yet I see so so so many awful Moira players :) Like people in high plat/low gold cant play her at all? If she is so non-skill, how come people cant play her for shit? Or..maybe you're just a crybaby genji main, crying because you get killed by good Moira players? Hmm 🤔
@@eunyounguzun2597 sometimes it's just luck. I've been killed many times because of a random purple orb xD or because I have to reload and that's all Moira needs to succ me dead :c but yeah overall it depends on the person's skill and awareness, although Moira definitely has the advantage if they're evenly skilled, but if genji's good enough to make Moira chase him across the map, he costs the enemies a main healer which is a good thing if his team is decent.... we lose some, we win some.
@Barna Antal Hmm thats true, I've met other players too who go dps Moira and do some stupid stuff and say theyre easy wins. In reality they just hold right click (not that Im top 500, I do stupid stuff too sometimes)
Fun fact, the setting of this short is actually a playable map called "Hanamura!" One of my personal favorites, the map even has a winter version during the Winter Wonderland event! Your comment about Genji needing nerfed is funny, because most of the players that actually play Genji have been calling for him to be buffed for a long while! Most of Genji and Hanzo's abilities are exactly how they're shown here, with a bit of an exception with Hanzo. Not too long ago he got a bit of a mini-rework, in which his scatter shot was replaced with the ability to rapidfire a few shots for reduced damage and he gained the ability to do a short dash after jumping. The reason for this rework was due to the fact that his scattershot could one shot almost any character in the game if they were in a corridor, which had little to no counterplay. As you can imagine, this was pretty frustrating for just about everyone except the Hanzo player and his team. Onto some lore, Genji and Hanzo are, or were, heirs to the Shimada Clan, which had a large influence over much of Japan. Hanzo took the yakuza life seriously, while Genji was more of a playboy (to the point of dying his hair neon green, which is a skin in game) that spent most of his time goofing off. During this time, Genji was nicknamed "Sparrow", which explains the significance of the feather that keeps appearing. The yakuza elders, repulsed by his actions, ordered Hanzo to "get Genji out of the equation." The following fight ensued where Hanzo knelt to pray, with Hanzo actually using the sword shown. After the fight was over, Genji was more or less dead on the ground and Hanzo fled out of shame. Genji was eventually found and rescued by Overwatch, turning him into a cyborg. Hanzo left the yakuza clan and vowed to never use a sword again, instead picking up the bow we see. For a time after, Genji was distraught due to not accepting his new body. He was used by Overwatch's Black Ops Division, aptly named Blackwatch, as essentially just a giant weapon. After Overwatch's disbandment, he traveled to Nepal and seeked refuge with a group of Omnic monks, the Shambali. The Omnic that was killed in "Alive", Mondatta, was one of the high members of this group. There he was mentored by Zenyatta (a playable character with no real lore appearances) and learned to accept his body. The cinematic actually occurs several years after, and not long after Winston's recall. As the lore stands right now, neither Hanzo or Genji have done too much up to the present. Genji was shown as to answered Winston's recall in the Overwatch 2 trailer, but Hanzo is still MIA. Sorry for the long comment and I look forward to seeing more!
DeWolx I don’t consider The Last Bastion to be, since it doesn’t take place in a playable area. But I do suppose that they are, and I just don’t think much :P
@@gabs3901 yes hes overrated, but he needs a buff, he cant do shit in higher ranks or at least you have to be really good with him to be able to do shit. He might be good in lower ranks cuz of his deflect but thats just there. He needs a buff, he gets hard countered in higher ranks easily
This should PROBABLY be known first before you decide to watch that short, since the short was shown AFTER all of this was known. Honestly, it's one of the best shorts of the series IMO, and was expecting this to come out in your channel. Anyways, the short in question will take place in the in-game map called Eichenwalde. Deep in the map is a hall and a throne. sitting on that throne is a "complete set of armor". Reinhardt also has a skin resembling this armor. That skin's name is "Balderich". This is what it looks like. www.geekgirlauthority.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Overwatch-Eichenwalde.jpg
I like you guys but the lore is totally off... Overwatch is the good guys. And genji is one of the members... Remember Winston recalled all agents and genji is telling his brother to pick a side. The advance ai is taking over the world and overwatch is last line of defence. Reaper and widowmaker is part of a evil organisation called talon. I hope you guys read this
Thank you for the explanation! Yeah we're still pretty shaky on the lore since we're only relying on what we've seen in the first few cinematics. But we're slowly picking up more of the story as we go! Thank you for watching:D
@@GMineo First of all thank you for reading my comment and I enjoy your reaction very much... I don't play the game but I watch a ton of content creators who enjoyed it. So I recommend you guys play it. Seriously thank you for reading this and I hope you guys a very happy day
The short is made to have you easily guess that it's his brother, the goal of the director wasn't to make you feel surprised, it was to make you follow and understand the plot))). Great video guys!
Honestly rhe first stime i watched it i was like "So yeah he got a blue dress and the ninja green light, like the rwo dragons....i think they are brothers"
Every single time I watch this, I'm always amazed when Genji cuts Hanzo's arrow in half. Whoever animated this (along with the rest of the trailers) truly made a masterpiece
This might just me being picky, but I feel you lose part of the experience with out earphones. The music is what bumps these cinematics up to top quality.
And since when are earphones the superior way to listen to music? Though it does seem like they are listening from a laptop and not from dedicated speakers, so earphones should be better in that case. Though if they went for earphones, they might as well use headphones instead.
@@ckkiller17 Well, here's to hoping they were using actual speakers and not some cheap laptop ones. Though whenever you watch things while commenting with other people you're bound to miss a lot of detail, especially in audio (since you also have to listen to the other people). It's already not a very ideal situation =/
Quick lore. They were kind of like a yakuza clan I believe which their father was boss. Somewhere along the line Hanzo (arrow guy) became boss and genji (ninja guy) did something to dishonor the clan. Hanzo was dutybound to kill him but apparently he fucked it up without knowing and genji got turned into a cyborg because his injuries where life-threatening. Genji was then recruited into overwatch and did a bunch of cool shit there before it was shut down.
Back again with a few juicy (Non-Spoiler) items to clear some blanks. Hanzo is what you'd call a Free Agent not belonging to either side or even a third-party. The reason being he fell out with the Shimada Ninja Clan after Genji's supposed death either afterwards or directly because of it. Don't know if he started another independent clan or not. Genji is Overwatch Genji was rescued by Overwatch's lead medical scientist & everyone's favorite healer Mercy. ( They have no cinematic to go over this so I feel comfortable going over it in a non-spoiler) Mercy put him back together turning him into a Android. It hints in a few Easter eggs that Genji fell for Mercy at that time. So there's a romance aka ship there. Zenata another member of Overwatch and a spiritual Omnic like Onata who got assassinated in the Alive short, helped him through his healing process & anger at Hanzo. Zenata is another healer in-game. Hanzo has a bias against omnics like a lot of people after the wars have. Which is why when he said "What have you become?" was with a little disgust. They're 2 of my absolute favorites in Overwatch.
Haha they’ll never know scatter arrow was removed (the one with the arrows scattering in the underside of the entrance of the temple) and replaced with storm arrow (shoots already full charged arrows rapidly) due to one shotting you at a certain angle while being closed range. *cries in Mercy Main*
Love the video guys. But a little background for overwatch, there are three parties known in overwatch right now. One is overwatch which are the good guys like Winston and tracer, and then their is talon, which is the bad guys like reaper and widowmaker. They were trying to steal doomfist's gauntlet who is the leader of talon. And their are omnics, which are like robots. Some are good and some are bad. Anyways hope this little info helps, great video guys :) love to see you all play overwatch some day.
Fun fact: The feather genji left was a sparrow feather. It’s a little Easter egg because when genji and Hanzo were younger their father called genji Sparrow
Technically, he didn't want power, but to honor his clan, as he felt Genji was dishonoring the clan. So he thought he murdered him, but Genji was saved.
So Hanzo is OP for Squishies, non-tanks, cuz hit arrows if they hit a headshot can oneshot peeps cuz it does so much damage. That scatter shot you saw where he made 1 arrow scatter everywhere used to be in the game but since the arrows bounced until they went off map you could potentially get headshotted around the building and across the map without him ever actually aiming at you or even knowing you were there. There's quite a bit Genji can't deflect and it is on a cool down. Projectile he can but so long as you bait it and wait it your fine. Zarya, Sym, Brig and Rein primary fires can't be deflected. He's also a very in your face kind of char so you need to get used to fast cam movement to get good with him
All the cinematics that we see, with the exception of the first, are set in maps in the actual game: Winston's happens in the map Watchpoint: Gibraltar Tracer/Widowmaker in King's Row, London Hanzo/Genji in Hanamura, Japan Reinhardt's in Eichenwald, Germany Sombra's in Volskaya Industries, Russia Soldier 76 in Dorado McCree/Ashe in Route 66, USA Also, the "government team" Wade keeps refering to is actually an evil organisation called Talon that tries to manipulate things in the shadows. Playable characters that are members of Talon are: Reaper, Widowmaker, Sombra, Doomfist, Moira, and Sigma.
The cyborg Genji Shimada has made peace with the augmented body he once rejected, and in doing so, he has discovered a higher humanity. As the youngest son of the master of the Shimada ninja clan, Genji lived a life of luxury and privilege. He had little interest in the family's illegal businesses, and although he excelled at and enjoyed his ninja training, he spent most of his time pursuing a playboy lifestyle. Many within the clan considered the carefree Genji to be a dangerous liability, and they resented his father for coddling and protecting him. Following the clan leader's untimely death, Genji's older brother, Hanzo, demanded that Genji take a more active role in their late father's empire. Genji refused, enraging Hanzo. The tension between the brothers built to a violent confrontation that left Genji on the verge of dying. Hanzo believed that he had killed his brother, but Genji was rescued by Overwatch and the intervention of Dr. Angela Ziegler. The global security force saw Genji as a potential asset in its ongoing operations to combat the Shimada clan. As Genji's injuries left him clinging to life, Overwatch offered to rebuild his body in exchange for his help. He was put through an extensive process of cyberization, which enhanced his natural speed and agility and augmented his superlative ninja skills. Transformed into a living weapon, Genji single-mindedly set about the task of dismantling his family's criminal empire. But as time passed, Genji felt increasingly at war with himself. He was repulsed by the mechanical parts of his body and could not come to grips with what he had become. When his mission was complete, he abandoned Overwatch and wandered the world in search of meaning. He drifted for many years before crossing paths with the omnic monk Zenyatta. Though Genji initially rejected Zenyatta's wisdom, the benevolent omnic would not be deterred. In time, Zenyatta became his mentor, and under the monk's tutelage, Genji reconciled his dual existence as both man and machine. He learned to accept that although he had a cyborg body, his human soul was intact, and he came to see his new form as a gift and a unique strength. Now, for the first time in his life, Genji is free. Even he cannot say where his path will ultimately lead. Also, this origin story of Genji is from Overwatch's official site. All heroes have their own origin stories like this. So feel free to check it out!
Hanzo is actually a better swordsman than Genji (which is why he gets the advantage in the battle even though he was using a bow as a sword), but after "killing" Genji he put down the sword and vowed never to use it again and instead picked up the bow.
The story behind Hanzo and genji is that when they were young, genji found out that their family was doing illegal stuff and wanted to make it public, their father found out what genji was trying to do and had hanzo "kill" him. But he survived. Due to killing his brother the rest of the clan banished hanzo... and the choose a side is the side of the overwatch team or the talon team. Who are the two main forces in the game besides null sector which is run by omnics (robots)
Hanzo cut off both genji's legs below the knee, brutally scarred his face and torso, and chopped off his right arm with the same sword he was praying to
Heres some Background on the Brothers: -Hanzo was the leader of a crime syndicate family that sell drugs and other illegal business -Both brothers were trained as assassins and ninjas -Hanzo the older brother was the Heir of the family leading the family to further glory -Genji enjoyed the training but had no interest in the familys illegal business, instead he was playboy party type guy -The Elders of the family told Hanzo to bring Genji into the fold of the family business or kill him -Genji rejected the family business enraging Hanzo until a confrontation in which Hanzo "Killed Genji" -Hanzo felt terrible afterwards and realized what he has become. He also left the family and the Shimada household (the place this trailer takes place -Hanzo lives a life as a mercenary trying to redeem his honor and returns to this location every year to honor his brother -Overwatch found him and saved his life, he then went under extensive Cyberization and joined Overwatch, with one goal, destroy the Shimada Empire -Genji destroyed the family and once it was over he left Overwatch, he hated his body and believed himself a monster then he encountered an Omnic Monk -After training with the Omnic Monk and accepting himself some more time passes by. -Winston recalls Overwatch and Genji decides to reunite with his brother offering him a chance to change his path -This Trailer is the outcome
Lore time! Hanzo and Genji was part of klan called the Shamadia clan. Obviously they are brothers Hanzo being the oldest and Genji being the youngest. Their father was the leader of the klan, and Hanzo took it very seriously. Genji on the other hand didn’t. So his father asked hanzo to tell Genji to get serious but Genji refused. Resulting in the battle. And actually during the battle Hanzo used a sword that you see in the video in the temple, he used the sword to he thinks kills his brother, after that day he never touched a sword again and went to bow and arrow. After the battle, Hanzo believes he killed his brother but in fact he just left him for dead. Dr. Ziegler or more known as Mercy from the Overwatch team found him barely alive, she took him under her wing and helped him slowly start the process of being half Omnic, and half human. But it wasn’t enough, after Overwatch gets disbanded Genji goes to seek out a monk called, Zenyetta. He and Genji work together for awhile working on acceptance, healing, peace of mind. Then he accepts what he is now, and he went to his brother that he forgives him. When Genji said “it’s time to pick a side” the Klan that the brothers where in were shady (And my personal opinion is why Genji wanted no part in it) Genji asked Hanzo that question cause the their was no more Klan. Is is he good or bad? Which side is he on? Hope that helps 😬
What he meant by "pick a side" is the shimada clan ( the place genji and hanzo are from ) is a criminal clan and hanzo ( the leader as his father died ) has to either help save the world from the omnics or continue his father's legacy
there is a reason why hazo point the arrow at genji, in another game or something, there is a story said that genji wanted to be like the old days with hanzo, but hanzo did not accept, he still came to the shimada castle on the same day to honor his old brother, he still believed his elder brother is dead and this guy (genji) is not his brother
Now I know why this video got so many dislikes because you can't fucking hear anything and when y'all's talk you can't even hear what you can barley fucking hear
Guys look, in the past genji and hanzo were little boys, they were born and bred just to become asssasins, hanzo wanted his brother to rule the shimada clan but genji didn't want to, at the same day that we saw hanzo in the trailer preying for his brother, this was the same day he killed his brother in the same place, until a medic called angela Zeigler Aka Mercy found his body and made him half robot cuz part of his body died, until genji travelled far and wide and found someone called Zenyatta, zenyatta accepted genji as his apprentice and found peace as he accepted what he is now
I love your reactions, but it would be really nice if y'all could up the audio just a little bit in the actual videos! It's just a little hard to hear them :) otherwise really awesome video!
No one gonna tell them that the blue sword was originally Hanzo’s. Hanzo used that sword to “kill” genji. After that he put down the sword and then picked up the bow.
If you want some more lore about genji and hanzo then buckle up. Genji and Hanzo are both brothers from the Shimada clan (who are pretty much the Yakuza in the game). Genji has always been headstrong and arrogant while Hanzo was always serious. Their father, who was head of the Shimada wanted them to continue their crime syndicate but Genji rejected it. His father claimed he will dishonor his family if he doesnt join them, but Genji still denied it. Later on, his father tasked Hanzo to kill his own brother. They fought at the same area where Hanzo placed the offerings, and Hanzo struck him down ( hence the tear and the blood splatter on the scroll hanging on the wall ). Mercy (an Overwatch combat medic stumbled across Genji, who was fatally wounded. The battle made genji lose most of his body, forced to be replaced with mechanical replacements. In return for saving Genji's life, he volunteered to join Overwatch. Hanzo on the other hand was nearly consumed by grief of thinking he murdered his brother. He left the Shimada and was branded as a traitor, constantly hunted by assassin after assassin.
