In this video, my buddy Will and I try to resurrect a Caterpillar 977 that's been sitting for years with an unknown problem. The seller had it listed as inoperable for $4,000, but he's running out of time to get it gone, so he offered it to me for FREE if I could get started and off his property in 3 days!!!
Be sure to check out the other heavy equipment saves on the channel, along with diesel truck content, 4x4 content, etc!
And PLEASE don't forget to LIKE the video and SUBSCRIBE to the channel!
Thanks!
Scott

You realize a lot of people that watch these old equipment videos would rather hear and see the machine in real time rather than fast motion or music? Always good to see someone rescue old iron. Carry on!

Put 2 6x6 on each side to crawl up on and off. The driver doesn’t think much of his Eq. to load over the beaver tail when he could disconnect, if he drove for me I would fire him on the spot. Ran 41,43 and 955 pedal steer great machines.

I believe the steering clutch and brake adjustment is under the fuel tank. You already opened the panel on the walk around. Good luck and enjoy your find. God Bless.

As others have mentioned, that was a definite pucker moment watching it load over the axles onto the lowboy. Otherwise, nice work all around. Not a criticism, but if I were to be in the biz or hobby of rescuing strange-to-me machines, I would be tempted to bring a flamethrower with me to knock down some of the vegetation, ticks, and other undesirables that may be lurking below. Generally, I'm not that afraid of spiders and such, but nothing worse than a stray one wandering up a pant leg, then it gets disturbed when the host moves, and ends up biting in defense of itself. Same with scorpions, and other little hard-to-spot creatures that call the area around and under a long-stationary machine their home. Nothing warms my cold, cold heart, more than seeing someone save good machinery from becoming scrap metal, and bringing it back to a somewhat productive, useful, and appreciated life of service.

@@THEBULLETPROOFGARAGE Back in the late 1970s I got to run International 125 & 175 Front Loaders on big mainline sewer The crew used a 850-B case Loader on backfill and pea gravel running it was a fast track loader I remember filling those grease fitting on the Case 450 dozer the company Had on track adjustments. My first experience was running a HD-5 that had a big clutch lever. I stopped her one time and left one of the front bucket controls in the forward or back locked in And tried to restart her, she would not start till I figured that I left the loader control locked in. I think I pushed it back when I got out without knowing it. It's been many years now. Have you ever heard of the Dynahoe backhoe. Made by Bucyrus Erie till 1985. That when Bucyrus just stuck to big mining no more bear for the stout construction line of equipment.

Yo Scott, you are talking too much. We viewers heard you 1st time, free if you can move it b4 Wed am. Congrats on your persistance & honesty, but come on with finding all major issues...but you got very lucky with its fuel, no water in cylinders via open exhsust. Just dead batteries. Now lets get on with steering clutches, air, engine oil, hyd oil change + final drive oil levels. I think Diesel Creek had a video on salvaging one of his dozers with rusted clutch plates; also Jesse Muller had a video on this issue as well. So check them out. Enjoyed yur video, great sunny, 'blue sky' weather made video look mighty fine. Looking forward to yur next video where we learn problem with steering...or...maybe you sold it already?🤔🔧⚙️🗜🔩

Yo James - the first issue I need to figure out is the right final drive. We'll discuss that in the next video. You loading on an RGN over the rear of the trailer, why, its harder on the trailer the loader and the truck. Plus it's much safer to detach and load from the front a lot less chance of sliding off the side. To each their own I guess
