Non-Stick Mower Deck Coating 

Old painters tip I came across. For paint that has sat for a few weeks or more, turn the can over for a few hours then let it sit for a few minutes upright before opening. Works amazing as a pre stir mix.

Two part epoxy primer is best at keeping moisture away from the metal of the deck then apply a utility or HD enamel paint to the deck. After I spray paint the bottom of the deck, I apply by brush another two coats then 3 coats of Slip Plate #1. Brushing on the enamel paint gives a good thickness over just spraying on many coats. You will have to up-keep the graphite throughout your mowing season due to the abrasive nature of grass. For me, I think the best thing I have for keeping the deck clean is my PVC deck wash bar after each mowing, the Slip Plate just makes the grass fall off easier.

Up to this point I have been using Rust Oleum Rust Rust Resolver (I think that is what it is called) spray on the bottom of the deck to slow the rust down, but I might start using the Graphite also when I prep for next year. Looking forward to the update video of this project.

Just use high gloss oil based equipment enamel and call it a day.

I just use mobile home roof tar coating. I like the silver best. Easy to see better when cleaning.

I don't understand why you didn't clean and paint the spindles as well. I mean you were right there with the paint, why not ?

It is for sure a great idea to keep these areas painted, but save your money on the non-stick snake oils. In the real mowing world, none of it works. That is just the simple truth.

Harbor freight has chip brushes. If you get them on sale, you can get the price around 50 cents a brush. How about using rubberized wheel well protector. Available at automotive stores.

Unfortunately, Tennessee has too many rocks that would sand blast that finish off. Good idea, though.

I just take my deck off, remove the blades and sandblast everything after each mow. No paint needed.

Please don't tell people to just throw unused paint away. It should not go into landfill due to environmental issues, and to do so would be illegal in many countries.

All snake oil salesman. Just hose the area down after mowing the lawn. You spend an hour doing the lawn or more. You can spend five minutes hosing the undercarriage of a lawnmower. Thanks smarter not harder.
