"No. Hoodies. Allowed." I don't think I could survive in that school... Edit: I have no idea why I made this comment because my entire life I’ve had a uniform so idea what this is. But thanks for all the likes guys
@@slay3051 my school is a public school but with uniform. It’s so uncomfortable. But luckily I have my jacket with a hoodie. Oh shit nvm I needed to go buy new clothes cuz it was too small and I didn’t notice the jacket didn’t have a hoodie. RIP that bitch
my school follows british stuff so we have the goofy form I for 7th grade and we have to wear suits and ties. its called dress down day, but its pretty much like that. except we can wear hoodies
Us British do sometimes have non uniform days but ANNOYINGLY we have to pay a pound 🙄 and yes we are allowed hoodies but it depends on the school really. Except that we come in with PE uniform if it's PE days and natural uniform on non PE days unless ofc it's non uniform day.
Actually, my American high school banned costumes. We still had dress codes, like skirts had to go at least to fingertip length when arms are held straight against the sides and no spaghetti straps or flip flops/thongs. For that matter, my public American elementary school had a "dress code" which was really "you can pick among 4 uniforms we're selected from this pamphlet." 🙃 That was, unless you were too poor to afford the uniform and the school agreed it wasn't worth the fuss to provide you with a used one that was donated by way of a waiver. Thankfully, the other kids thought it was cool- not that you're poor. XD
my highschool has no dress code. just be a decent human being, like nothing offensive or lingerie, stuff like that. i watched somebody come to school in a full sized no face costume from spirited away on a regular school day in the middle of march. it was awesome
Well he talks about the sight of a male person Dress codes are mostly against female persons/clothes like slirts, pant lengt, shirt straps, shoulders showing boys can wear anything at every school I've been to and girls can fucking die of hest stroke in summer (except the school I'm at now there's only "not too revealing" as the dress code
@@cariuwu5862 It's very true American public school dress codes are very targeted towards feminine dress styles. There are rules that apply to masculine dress styles too though such as the shoes wear, no offensive language or imagery on the clothing (ie: T-shirts with prints of hypersexualized women, hate symbols, profanity, etc.), exposed shoulders (jerseys)... But frankly, I've regularly seen male students get away with violations every day while females are nit-picked.
@@softcloudx7240 By definition, that's still a dress code. It's simply a code of conduct of what is not acceptable to wear. That dress code is just not as strict as "pick from these 4 uniforms." XD My middle school also had a strict dress code, but we were free to purchase clothes that fit that dress code from anywhere (single-color red, white, or blue sleeved collared shirt and slacks, then later blue jeans were finally allowed and people were very excited about that... Like I this video, hoodies were NOT allowed.). High school was a wonderland of casual clothes within a dress code. And no one cares what you wear at college. Come in your pajamas, as long as you show up on time and turn in good work. No one cares.
I remember when my family moved back to the UK after living in Germany for 5 years, I had forgotten about the uniform thing and I was shocked when I realised it was mandatory. The whole hysteria around hooded pullovers was insane too. I was a teenager then and had only just developed an interest in streetwear and it felt exciting to pick out an outfit each morning before school. In Germany, this made it easier to find friends with similar interests such as taste in music etc.
Fr tho like the “No hat” rule is the stupidest rule out there. The “No hoodie” rule is also kinda stupid but like I kinda understand if they think we look shady with hoodies on but yeah
THREE KIDS IN MY CLASS SHOWED UP IN SPIDER-MAN OUTFITS AND MASKS AND STUFF AND THE TEACHERS SAID IT WAS FINE AND ONE TIME THEY CAME IN PINK SUITS IM SO SCARED OF TYEM TBH-
Welp...most casual American schools really don't care. And yeah wearing pajamas to school with a blanket is pretty nice 😂 Edit x2: um wow, thanks for the 10k likes... People really like sharing their opinions about this 😂
.... I am fumin..... I wanna be able to dress in what I feel comfy but noooooo *I gotta have the top half of a office worker and the bottom half of a frick'n nun* IT GETS COLD AND THEY DON'T ALLOW US TO EVEN WEAR THE PE HOODIES !!! *WE HAVE TO SPEND EVEN MONEY THEN WE HAVE , JUST TO STAY WARM IN 5° TO -1/2 WEATHER!!!!!!* *AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH*
My school has no dress code, as long as you wear a shirt and pants you’re fine. Edit: a couple of days ago a girl came to school wearing a “crop top” that was basically a bra, and I’m not over exaggerating, if she said it was a bra I would believe her
My sister had a guy in a full fledged teedybear costume in her highschool. he was a student and didn't even get in trouble. I never saw/met him but..... *tears forming* He's my hero...
Outfits I’ve seen at my school: 1. A black cape and a giant black hat that was like 2 feet wide 2. A giant sombrero 3. Santa 4. A banana 5. A businessman And the second quarter isn’t even over yet 😂
As a German student: At my school, I can wear whatever I want and this has its pros and cons. It's sometimes exhausting to pick an outfit 3 times in a week that looks good and is comfortable at the same time.
This is the truest thing ever for us brits. I once had a boy in my class tell us he was wearing trainers because he didn’t have his school shoes and our deputy head went up to him asked for his hoes she took one and then walked off with it leaving him with only one shoe. 😂
I go to an American school, which is also a private Catholic school, in which means we have uniforms and that is exactly how my teachers talk to us on non-uniform days. Its also $1 most of the time.
Went to a Christian one for my middle and high. During middle school I had a uniform but around high that wasn’t enforced If my memory is correct. We also never had the pay thing.
@@loristrout4741 well as idk if this was the case at their school, but at my school on fridays you could pay a dollar to not wear you uniform and the money would got towards either a field trip or something similar.
My school calls them “dress-down days” and you have to pay $1 for every piece of clothing: 1 for short, 1 for pants, and maybe 1 for jacket/hoodie, and 1 for hat. You don’t have to pay for jackets/hoodies if they’re embroidered.
That’s crazy! My school was a dollar for the day for everything. Granted, I grew up in a low income area and many didn’t participate because they couldn’t afford even an extra dollar. Teachers used to give extra credit to the food drives, but it was banned because students would donate food their families recieved from the food pantry to receive better grades and compete with their classmates. The school banned paying for better grades after that. Needless to say, I can’t picture asking families to pay that much. Many can’t even spare a can of corn.
My school definitely lived up to the American stereotype. There was a guy who wore a pink fluffy coat to school everyday. There were a couple of people who wore trenchcoats. One guy wore a three-piece suit everyday. One of my friends wore sheer tights with short-shorts regularly. It was all over the place. And the week leading up to Halloween was always super fun.
I wish I could have gone to an American school. I would have found every ridiculous way to not quite break the dress code and it'd involve a lot of cosplay (or really whatever I could be bothered to make)
My school: “Yeah yunno how it’s Christmas and all that? And how last year we did a cool Christmas Jumper day? Yeah well fuck you, you ain’t getting that”
@@rapa2894 my school has the same casual day system and our money is given to charities, we can choose between an animal charity or humanitarian charity!
^ hoodies are allowed but we cant have our hoods up last time I checked, and for non uniform days? well it only started in 2020/2019 and we kinda had it almost every day
@@iisxflowerplays it means I'm confused 🤧 since the teacher said you can wear free clothes but the color of the clothes must be green and red, so of course it's not completely free clothes 🤧 that's why I said what 🤧
nah bro the us teacher either doesn’t care, yells at you, or just stares at you until they tell you to go to the principals office to wear the pe uniforms that don’t fit the dress code they made
Most of my teachers are pretty chill with non uniform days.(some of the girls wear crop tops, thin straps, short skirts/shorts etc so they do get a bit iffy sometimes) Last year we had 2 in row, one for only students and the other for students and teachers but the first day we had a teacher dome in wearing this brightly coloured top and whenever he got told he wasn't supposed to be in his own clothes he'd just say "I know, but I don't care" it was probably cuz it was his last week of teaching at my school but I loved him. (I'm from Britain)
@@MOSHICOCO I should probably change that to some (although I'd say its about half) but that must be quite disappointing, not being able to wear what you want entirely
As a person from America, a kid literally had to pay for her non uniform then 2 minutes later got called a swear by a teacher and got sent home, and no she didn’t get back money
And then there’s my American public school which is the only public school in the state that has uniforms and when we do have free dress days we have to pay $2 and we cant wear clothing that a teacher may deem excessively tight, no elastic waistbands, no hoods on jackets, and we can’t ever have our hair grown past our waist…
In Britain, the money is to raise funds for charity, and, at least in my school, we are not allowed to wear the hoods up in school, but we can still wear hoodies. (Edit) I just remembered my school does do a charity walk every year, and we can dress up as whatever we like with absolutely no rules at all as far as I know and, believe me, someone came in in an inflated shrek costume once.
Whoever wrote the dress code is the US: Ya know what let's just make it so girls pretty much have to wear sweat clothes to be acceptable and say it's to "not distract the boys" and have pretty much no rules for guys
What is it with women and making it always sound sexist, it’s just boys wear the same 3 things, shorts or long pants, t-shirt or hoodie, and medical glasses or no glasses, it’s not sexist, girls just have weird fashion trends, like imagine paying more for pre destroyed jeans lol
Fun fact most schools don’t allow dye but wigs are allowed as long as they’re not 2-3 shades of a real color, one could argue that any color is one two to shades within a real color… I annoyed so many teachers that admin tried to ban wigs… that didn’t fly well with the African American population and those in our school going through Chemo. Needless to say they couldn’t stop me and I always recommend people get wigs now to accessorize in American schools. 🐬
I've never seen a school here in America that chill we can't even wear shorts or skirts over our kneecaps like, they think some boys are going to be like " wow you got some sMeXy kneecaps girl"
And heavens forbid that in American schools your shoulders are showing!! That would be just so unladylike, and distracting to the boys! Oh but it’s ok for them to wear shirts with cut outs all the way down the sides, and many many other things, dress codes in American schools are so dumb
Honestly on non-uniform in my school we used to go in big onsies with Hoodie or bright tops, there were no rules as long as the clothing wasn't inappropriate! So not that bad
Teachers in British schools really be like: give us 1 pound AND if you can a donation for the one day a year we can wear non-uniform however no jeans, no hoodies, no inappropriate slogans, no logos just wear a plain top and trowsers :) and don't forget the money!! Also girls no skirts, no jewellery, no makeup, no pearcings and no crop tops thank you!
Yeah that's accurate for American schools, I've seen goths, cosplayers, even a few kids wearing the same shirt for a week (I was deciding between the reasons of if they were lazy, did laundry every day, or something was up at home). It's pretty much going to a comicon and seeing who does what for how long.
Yo I go to a Scottish school we don't have dress codes Non -uniform day "IF U BROUGHT A POUND.ONCE I SAY UR NAME BEING IT!" THE boy who bring non -uniform:"I forgot my pound" My teacher:"Okay bring it tomorrow
Nah my teacher and his friends wore Viking costumes on a non-uniform day and got non-uniform days banned….. for several years even _after_ they graduated 😂 Maybe things are a _little_ different in Canada haha
I remember in year 8 I paid my £1 for Non School Uniform Day's in 1p coins. my teacher made me collect the rest of class, Count it all & then I had to take it to the main school reception. At least I got to miss the 1st half of lesson 😀
She told me not 2 pay with 1ps again. So the next year, in the same lesson again. She said "Those better not b 100x 1ps" I said " No of course not, it's 50x 2p" She was mad but made me do the same as b4. I couldn't believe it worked. Sadly that was during my 2 yrs of GCSE's. So I left school after. My teacher did c the funny side. She was Great! 🥰
I'm in an American High school and literally the only special days when it came to clothes were Halloween where they allowed you to wear a costume (as long as it didn't have any weapons or Blood or anything), and school spirit days where you are supposed to wear something to match with the theme for example "Blue and Green Day" aka wear as much Blue and Green as physically possible (those are my school colors that's why they were chosen), all of the rest of the day were pretty much just wear what you like as long as it isn't exposing or makes it difficult to find out who you are.
In my school (in England) we have to wear school uniforms, and if we wear anything under our blazors because it's cold, and it's not a school jumper, then we practically get a detention, and then if you wear a hat inside, you get a lecture, when all the teachers have to do, is tell u to take your hat off.
At my school there's also: No jeans No holes No bare shoulders Must wear tights If you wear shorts they must go below knees *but this only counts for women* No hoodies No overwear like gloves or coat It's £3 not £1 Must be subdued colours No non-medical glasses No chains Absolutely no jewellery, you'll be sent to isolation and they'll be confiscated or taped up And finally no brands or logos EDIT: Oh, you thought it couldn't get worse? Think again: *NO LINES IN HAIR* *BLACK SOCKS ONLY* *YOUR TROUSERS MUST GO BELOW YOUR ANKLES (SO WHO CAN TELL WHAT COLOUR YOUR SOCKS ARE ANYWAY???)* *NO WATCHES (BOTH SMARTWATCHES AND ANALOG CLOCKS)* *YOUR CERTIFIED SCHOOL TROUSERS CANNOT BE TIGHT ON YOUR SKIN (YES YOU STILL WEAR SCHOOL TROUSERS)* *LONG-SLEEVED SCHOOL SHIRT WITHOUT ANY SHIRT UNDERNEATH (EVEN IN WINTER) DESPITE BEING COMPLETELY COVERED BY YOUR BLAZER SO NOBODY CAN TELL* *NO GLOVES/HATS/SCARVES EVEN WHEN OUTSIDE DURING THE WINTER*
Dang what the heck. I live in America and there are schools with uniforms but I think it’s mainly private schools. I go to a public school and I thought our dress code was bad but that’s so much worse. For us we can’t wear leggings or most thin skin tight things like that unless it’s under a dress or skirt. We can’t have skin showing 3 inches above our knees, and we have to have straps 3 fingers wide, but boys can’t show shoulders at all (which is stupid, especially when it’s 100 degrees outside). Those are the main things. There are other things that don’t get dress coded as often such as you can have hoodies, but if it’s a zip up jacket, it must be unzipped (they have never enforced that) and no form of had unless it’s a religious this or something. The thing I hate the most is wearing ids around our necks because they always break. But your dress code really sucks and I’m sorry about that. If I’m forced to go to school, I at least like to dress comfortably. Dang sorry- this is a lot. ;-;
Nah. We still have strict dress codes when we have free dress. When I was in middle school we had a jean day and if they thought your jeans were to tight or skinny they either sent you home, your parents had to bring you new pants, or you got detention. It was so stupid and I actually asked what was the point of a free jean day if no one could wear jeans that made them comfortable? And they said I was having attitude when I was genuinely asking. Our schools literally suck. And we get coded for hoodies also.
I almost went to a school with uniforms and I honestly got lucky I didn’t go, I love wearing what I want and I use it as a way to express myself. It also just makes me happy/confident to wear certain outfits
We have strict dress code with 4 colors of collared shirts with the schools name and 3 different skirts with 3 colors each that have to go to the top of your knee and the same with the shorts. Only black red or blue solid colored leggings. And no leggings under shorts. There is no dresses after 6th grade also. :)
In my private school we’d have three or four of these a year. There were still a ton of dress codes we had to follow like no spaghetti straps, pants have to be a certain length, no hats/hoods on, etc. Everyone cherished this day and the girls usually wore pretty dresses. The boys just wore comfy clothes tho. I’m not sure about other schools on free dress day, but my school was a catholic school.
I went to a Catholic school in the US, so we also had non-uniform days! Some were for everyone, and therefore free, but usually there was a theme, like during Spirit Week you had to dress to whatever the day's theme was. Other times you had to pay like $1 and it would go to something. Like the English club always did an event for National Poetry Day where you got a poem when you paid your $1 and if a teacher asked you about why you were dressed down, you had to recite your poem. (I was in the English Club, this was my favorite day of the year.) The dress code for these days was a bit stricter than public school dress codes though; even though hoodies were allowed, shorts were definitely not, and of course you must protect your virtue by avoiding those scandalous skirts above the knees or *gasp* tank tops.
