It's not so much a matter of good guys and bad guys here. It's basically bad and less bad. Armored dudes (The Astartes/Space Marines) are the elite enhanced supersoldiers of humanity. The ship they boarded was full of rebels under the control of an alien/demon threat. The dude that got punched and shot was a psychic (psyker) who was interfacing with one of the alien spheres. He let his defenses down for a second to warn the captain and was immediately possessed. Their swift killing of him was a mercy killing. Warhammer 40k is the posterchild if "grimdark."

That boarding vessel was a Caestus Assault Ram, used by the Imperium for controlled boarding actions (the other method involves loading a Space Marine into a boarding torpedo and just shooting him at the enemy ship). It has twin-linked Magna Meltas (huge microwave guns that literally melt a hole in the enemy ship's hull) and can carry an entire Space Marine squad into battle.

Astartes dominate most enemies in the Galaxy because they were engineered to be. Being annoyed that they're not dying is like seeing prime Master Chief fighting alongside other Spartan 1s and getting pissed that you're not seeing Spartans dying immediately. They're following their design. But cool reaction though non the less, your commentary was funny asf

Those 5 soldiers are what Humanity had to become to survive a galaxy that only wants its extinction. They are so rare that there's only 1 million of them across the entire galaxy give or take a few thousand.

The orb said "No escape. I have failed. We have all failed. The Astartes defy our touch. You must return! Break your seal! We'll never survive. You must take them!" And then the Inquisitor says "Recall them immediately!" then the Inquisitor gets possessed. Had they not put him down like that, he would have been the epicenter of a nuclear sized explosion of psychic energy that would have ripped the ship apart and killed everyone on board.

This is a great introduction, cause now you get to see everything that tears them apart

Honestly this is a good representation on how strong space marines are which makes the next statement terrifying if you live in this world, I guess. They lose a lot. So many times, they will throw a good 100-300 space marines at a problem and like 20 get to go home. Unless your an Ultramarine or are a legacy character, there is very little plot armor in this world.

"I feel like if AI got this strong it's over." Thing about that is... they did. Humanity in 40k is in its twilight years. The space marines are not peak humanity. Also I recall somebody speculating that the place they ended up at by the end of the film is the Marianas Gorge. Make of that what you will.

Astartes, also known as space marines, are genetically engineered, post-human, 8 foot tall monsters of the battlefield. Normal unaugmented humans stand 0 chance against space marines. This particular chapter of space marines is working with the Inquisition, think if the CIA, KGB and MI5 got together and had a baby, and according to the creator of this animation, they're an Imperial Fists successor chapter. The two guys wearing golden helmets are psykers, people who have a mutation that allows them to use the power of the warp. The warp is a parallel dimension to ours, and is basically hell. They each only have one arm and are psychically bonded. They're beta-level psykers, which is why one had so much struggle restraining one space marine and two of them working in concert only managed to break the eye lens on his helmet. If they were alpha, alpha+ or primaris-level psykers, they could've crushed, ripped apart or incinerated the space marines with their minds. Those gold helmets are psychic hoods, devices that enhance a psyker's ability and help to protect them from the perils of the warp. The guy in the red robes is either an inquisitor or part of an inquisitorial retinue. He is also a sanctioned psyker, basically a psyker that was taken from their home world and sent to Holy Terra where they are screened. If a psyker passes the screening process, then they are sent to hone their their skills and outfitted with a psychic hood. The two spheres each contain some sort of warp entities. I don't know if they are xenos gods, daemons, warp aliens or warp predators. The second sphere tried to take control of the space marines as they approached, but couldn't break through their psycho-indoctrination, then tried to shove them away with a powerful telekinetic attack, obviously failing. The devices the space marines inserted into the second sphere link up to the devices on the first sphere and allow the inquisitor to spy on them. After the first sphere tells the second to take them, the inquisitor looks to the space marine captain(though it could be a lieutenant) and tells him to get them out of there. However him looking away and shouting to the captain allows just enough of a break in his concentration for the first spere to attack and possess the inquisitor. In 40k, when a psyker gets possessed, you have to act quickly, because if you hesitate bad-bad things will happen, and you have 3 options: 1) Shoot until the magazine is empty. 2) Shoot until their body is mush. 3) Both. The thing in the second sphere breaks its bonds, reveals itself, flees into the warp and opened a warp portal, dragging the 5 space marines in. While whatever it is that dragged the space marines into the warp is attacking them, something attacks it, I don't know if it is a warp alien, a predator or a daemon of chaos. The phrase, "When the rabbit screams, the fox comes to investigate, but he does not come to help.", comes to mind. After the warp entity is attacked, the space marines are thrown out of that situation. The sergeant(the guy who blew his hand off when his plasma pistol exploded) takes off his helmet, and coughs up blood and laramen cells(specialized cells produced by an organ in a space marine's body that allows their blood to clot extremely quickly and their wounds to heal quickly). After a quick second to gather himself, he's ready to get back in it. If you pay close attention to the other pylons, you see flashes which are the other 4 in the squad. The planet they're on could be in the warp(the warp has swallowed entire solar systems, star, planets and all), it could be anywhere in the galaxy, the space marines could have been thrown forwards or backwards in time. Honestly they're damn lucky to be alive, people who have been drug into the warp and flung back out have come out partially dissolved as the warp is caustic to corporeal matter, they have come out in flames as they burn alive, they've come out partially eaten as daemons or other nasties gnawed on them, they've come out inside-out, they've come out heavily mutated to the point where their bodies couldn't sustain themselves. Basically it's a bad idea to go into the warp without the protection of a Gellar field(a special force field generated by a special generator that creates a pocket of realspace to protect the inhabitants on a ship from the nasties of the warp). Sorry for the novella of a post, 40k has such deep lore and we fans of it love it, sometimes to the point of fanaticism.

IDK if anyone pointed it out, but the Space Marines actually do lose a few during the fight with the psychic enemies. Those smokey explosions are them smiting some of the marines.

Thanks for this reaction. It's the firsr time i've seen someone react to Astartes who was COMPLETLY uninformed about it and 40k, so that was a nice change. Just a couple things: this film was done over the course of years in his spare time by ONE guy, and also you said you thought they were the bad guys. Well, they are, it's just that no faction in the 40k universe is good, and the space marines were created so humanity can try to resist against the worse factions. The "named characters" that used the autocannon actually hit the space marine's shoulderpads, the problem is hitting a space marine once is never enough to make sure they stay down unless you take their heads off.

The reason the astarties are like they are is because a laz rifle tickles. What I mean by this is they are over 9 foot tall 2 hearts 4 lungs 2 livers and more.

They are Posthuman Supersoldiers, each weighing over 750 lbs, and capable of lifting over 5000 pounds, if they were naked, but instead of being naked, wear power armor made if ceremite and Adamantium, making them capable of lifting I've 15,000 pounds. Their weapons fire bolts which are Hypersonic RPG bullets, and the blue gun was a plasgun. Thsee guys could rip masterchief apart in his full armor of thry were naked. They have 19 additional Supersoldier organs that a human doesn't have and we're hypnoindictrinated, before they were Transhumanized. Adding in the augments their armor gives their already beyond superhuman traits, some of them are Librarians, aka spacewizards

The big guys are space marines human super soldiers on our side defending human life from tyrants and genocide. These guys are lawful good and are fucking HIM. fuck a master chief they would turn his little ass into an accessory. Their bullets are the size of a red bull can 75 calibur in guns that easily weigh like 200 pounds. They are walking tanks tasked with purging all heretics and threats to humanity in holy fire all under the will of the God emperor.

Most amazing thing about this, this was all done by 1 person, in 4 years.. That's why it was recommended to you.. its absolutely fantastic skill of both screenwriting, 3d modeling, animating... its a lot.. I always question reaction channels.. truth is that no pause and just enjoy watchin (is entertainment for some) however, that most people agree, that's not fair use that's just abusing the creators---pausing constantly is annoying for people who casually watch reactions (like I want to watch reaction to this thing) because the wont be repeat customers---Forcing yourself and also have something, witty or relevant to say constantly... Game was rigged from the start, There is no perfect balance.. specially since now-a-days fractures is made by common people, but also algorythm,, its going to be miss something..its a pokerhand where you have 2,3,4,7,Face.. + Offsuite, you arent going to win.

I didn't know anything about 40k before seeing Astartes either. In 40k lore a lot is subjective so a lot of this production has elements of fantasy it's made up so for a few points there are no real answers like who are the Antagonist. We're do they come from...Where does he end up. These aren't supposed to have "Answers" perse. The big dudes are Astartes Space Marines. They are genetically enhanced super humans that are ridiculously OP, They have multiple hearts, lungs etc to power there 8 foot tall frames. They wear cerimite armor that's like a metal ceramic hybrid that extremely durable (eats those rounds, no problem). A space marine is vastly faster, smarter and more resilient than normal humans. They have a gene seed implanted in them with traits from there Primarchs [Faction Leaders and Sons of the Emperor]. The primarchs are the Sons of the God Emperor of Man. A perpetual super human psyker that has lead humanity from behind the scne though out time and In the 25ks helped humanity take back a desolate earth now called Terra and helped reunite humanity all across the solar system with war and strife. It's completely dope, you have to get into the lore, it's so dope!
