Former wrestler here. It all hurts. Every bump (fall and hit) is real. Punches are pulled and so are kicks but everything else is real. It's a physical form of theater & performance, we are in on it and try not to hurt each other. We train so that we can be safe in the ring and out of it. The ring's base is a set of steel beams and on top of that is large sheets of wood about 2 inches thick. On that is a exercise foam type mat that's about a 1 to 2 inches thick. They ain't lying when they say don't try this at home. My career ended because my lower back slipped some discs and one of my knees is shot. The pain is real, don't let anyone tell you different.
I remember training for a couple of months. The first week was rough. Simple thing such as taking a fall was brutal. I took so many fall that after a while it doesn't even feel that painful anymore. Lol. I quit a couple of months later because I finally realize you make peanuts by being a wrestle unless you get a contract from WWE. I love wrestling but I don't love it enough to the point where I have to financially struggle
do you have any videos of one of your matches? I love seeing if wrestlers in comment sections live up to their hype (or if theyre telling the truth in the first place)
@@Kalel2.0 And serious addictions to opiates and other painkillers. It's not ever discussed openly but there have been interviews with Kurt Angle, Steve Austin, etc who have talked about how debilitating their addictions had become. All to deal with the pain of performing these stunts and barely getting rest to recover before the next house show.
@@rohitchaoji Luckily house shows aren't mandatory now unless it's a special event. They now have to sign up for house shows to receive extra pay for their appearances. Rey Mysterio was addicted to pain killers too and his wife gave him an ultimatum to lose his family or lose his pill habit and he immediately went to rehab.
The moves are real. The wrestler known how to protect themselves for getting serious hurt. The thumb tacks and the ladders are real. The floor outside the ring is just a thin mat.
There's different styles of Wrestling so there's plenty to enjoy If you like hard hitting stuff that's a brawl If you like holds and submissions that's technical(my personal favorite) If you like shows of strength that's Power If you like flippy stuff and showcases of athletismthat's high flying It's all rehearsed before hand to avoid any accidents but the pain is real and while not legit a lot of the Wrestlers have backgrounds in other forms of Combat sports or any sport in general. There's also match stipulations to add a sense of realism and brutality some of these include a Ladder Match with a belt hanging above,a Street Fight,Steel Cage Match etc. Still tho they tell a story in the Ring and protect each other to avoid sny injury
the irony of "how are they getting hurt doing this" *three clips later* "I believe he hurt his ACL doing that move" Most of the extreme things like clips in this, hurts just controlled pain and being aware its gonna happen so you can safely do it.
Is he actually in pain is crazy lmao 🤣🤣 I always tell my non wrestling fan homies just for a minute look at the moves being done and don’t think of it as wrestling but picture those same moves happening to your body. Makes it easier to understand and respect the business a lil more ya know 💪🏿💪🏿
When you say that they're acting like they're in pain, they are actually in pain. The story and outcomes of the matches are scripted, yes, but not the actual physicality of their actions.
Wrestlers would tell you that of the items they use, the one that will really hurt is the ladder. They have stated this in many interviews. In one match, a wrestler named Joey Mercury, was sitting in the corner, and he suffered an injury from a ladder, I think it broke his nose... (face was totally covered in blood).
The reason why wrestling fans hate the word "fake"... It's scripted but they actually perform dangerous stunts. You've gotta know what you are doing or someone will get SERIOUSLY hurt or worse. It's an art form.
I worked at the arena here in my early 20s Monday night Raw came to town. Since I had access to everything it gave me freedom to roam around lol. I looked under the ring examined the tables and everything 😂. Contraire to popular belief the tables were already cut…. Well…. They weren’t and they were hard as hell . The padding on the floor is hard af. The steps are real steal. I had to help move some of that stuff. The same table I examined is the same table the Dudley’s put somebody through lol.
Those weren't needles. Those are thumbtacks. And those things are painful. Imagine getting slammed basically on a mat of tinky spikes that stick into you.
The tables are the sort you can get at Walmart, Home Depot, etc. The thing is, the middle is less structurally sound (most of the support at the ends); with a body going at momentum (most male wrestlers are 200+ pounds), it's going to break easy.
Usually the tables are gimmicked, so that they break easily, and hopefully a certain way. If they weren't, just imagine that wood breaking and splintering in all kinds of random shapes and sizes, potentially impaling someone. That said, the bumps are real. Stuff does hurt, but they try to do their level best, key word try, to protect each other and themselves as best they can.
I don't know who created this video, they included several moments of matt hardy, but no jeff hardy🤣🤌, Jeff was probably the most extreme wrestler in WWE💯
The ladders aren’t what you would find at Home Depot they are specially designed for these hits now in ladder matches they have to separate ladders one for climbing and the other for moves
3:05 I get it. Wrestling is "Fake". But it actually hurts and is not harmless. Watch the Undertaker vs. Mankind Cage match. Mick Foley (Mankind) lost multible teeth in that match.
They know how to do stuff and avoid serious injury for the most part, and it is just a performance but the stuff does hurt, it's why I won't call it fake, I'll just say its choreographed, a good friend of mine was an indie wrestler, I know how he was after a show
They really do get hurt sometimes, if you ever see the ref make an X sign with his arms that's the universal signal that someone has a real injury and they need to go off script.
They get hurt all the time. The only thing not legit is who wins and loses and they’re not punching each other as hard as they can in the face. Everything else is very real. Respect to them dudes 🫡
Even tho some of it is scripted and planned...you can't deny it's awesome to see and it's entertaining...hence the kind of wrestling WWE is...sports entertainment. But you gott pay me the big bucks to do these kinds of moves and stunts
The amount of delusion this guy has to keep pumping himself with to get though this video, lol. "that almost looks like it hurt" Because........ it did. Every. Single. Clip.
How about we talk about the amount of brain cells you don’t have because you can’t read a RU-vid title? What part of non-wrestling fan do you not understand?
