Pre alpha would imply the engine isn't finished. If you wanna see actual pre alpha footage, go watch the old Warcraft 3 pre alpha gameplay, where theres no map elevation and pictures of units are fighting on a static photo of a4 paper as the map. The state of the game is, "Beta."
The development team is mostly ex-AAA concept artists. Which explains why the concept and the art is absolutely phenomenal but it might be lacking in other areas. It also explains why the part, despite being extremely competent, relies on having a specific color to convey the mood, something that AAA studios often did and often do with post-apocalyptic.
@@warlerkerno, beta mean everything but polish is finished, it's either pre alpha or alpha (more likely alpha). It looks unpolished, a lot of animations are crude but the basic gamepkay loop exist in the build.
So you are saying indie studios are incapable of giving high-quality products? Within the last year, many small indie teams have dropped amazing, polished, AAA-level games. Don't sell them short.
this has less to do with being an indie studio and more to do with the fact that this game is in a pre-alpha state right now. so the polish isnt there.
The constant skipping thru alot. and just complaining.... its a Distobian apocolyptic game. thats pve meant to be played where you are thinking tactical instead of Guns blazing. because We wont be able to just go gun spam..
@@NonTactical i was just pointing out the observation of what you did, though based on your response to me I guest games like Concord and Dustborn are more your alley.
I didn't see anyone mentioning this elsewhere in the comments, but have you checked out Riloe's videos about the game? They are really interesting and informative as to what the game is trying to accomplish and how the devs are going about doing that.
There is a movie called Avalon, it's made by the same guy that made Ghost in the Shell. Look that up, then rewatch the trailer. I get the same vibe from the trailer.
The narrator sounds like Trinity. Get her to say "I love you, Neo" I get what you're saying about the colors. There could be greens slime here and there, purple graffiti, reds and yellows, orange for rust, etc. Sure "realism = brown and gray" might make sense, but even dust and dirt has more colors than just brown and gray. A war torn landscape would have wind blowing throughout the field since the land has been leveled relatively flat by bombs, removing dust and dirt from the ruins of buildings to reveal other colors.
From what i undestand the really grey part is a map called the ashen city wich has well... ash. And it's covered with it like snow. Overall from what i can see the color palette is really washed out, with brown, grey and the only colors that pops being red for blood and yellow for flames. I personally like it but understand thoses that prefer more poping color.
