OMG I'm crying watching this because this is truly EPIC.❤❤ THE BLACKBYRDS in 2024 playing their jams on the Front Porch. We needed this.. Thank you!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
DB denied them the use oh the name BlackBirds cuz he owned trademark rights. They starved for many years. Now the once caged 🐦⬛ can now 🎶 & Fly High👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Late seventies we were poor city college kids. I'm ashamed to say that I led the way in sneaking my friends in to the Donald Byrd and the Blackbyrds concert at Cornell University. You all were second to none...... I am ashamed but grateful to see you an hear you today........ Thank you, thank you, thank you......
The fact that you’re commenting on this a number of later shows they did their things in those shows ❤ don’t feel bad - send then 💰 for the cost of that concert 😊
Pure 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 Class never dies 🙏🏿♥️ Continue to Rest in Peace and Power Kevin Toney and Prof Donald Byrd 🙏🏿 Thanks for posting this and keeping "real music" alive. Peace and Blessings 🙏🏿
The mizell Brothers are soo FN underrated as song writers and producers. For Donald byrd, Ronnie foster, Bobbie Humphrey and many others..the Blackbyrds left no crumbs..outchea y'all.
anyone attuned to this in love doesnt leave dust as they move, just traces, light works, need to watch their every show they do. we can all live in this vibration. 80 blocks from tiffanys helps aid further understanding of jazz link with hip hop. i told a friend this, now my fiance ha that tupac is jazz and so is drill. he got it in the end. its hard to envisage a truu melting pot , music happened, like that blackbyrds only once in time wow. perfect, so glad i chose this life, to be a living part of blackbyrds love crew yoooo. i need to see the show. can i bring my trumpet? :) and piccolo, etc, thats how it should be at gigs, but only people who think they are gooder than all rest of crowd always fight to hog that, imagine if all shows had a instrumwnt room, where people could jam and learn through the air, and not a video. just some thoughts, or something.
no crumbs, was the point of my comment lool, yes none. love that. they need to do really obscure gigs, and omar should sing with them too, omg fire. love their singrr they got tho. i could three part harmony with those two fo sho brah yeahhhh hahahaa
In the process of listening, give it up one time for the legendary Donald Byrd... Thanks for this Noochie. I'm 51 and grew up listening to these kats early...
So did I. My uncle Vern would keep their 1977 release Action in heavy rotation. As an 11 y/o kid, I liked it so much that he gave it to me. Fast forward 47 years later, it's still one of my all-time favorites.
As someone who lived near Rock Creek Park, (Tuckerman St.) this brings back childhood memories of Brightwood Elementary and Fort Stevens Park. My family moved from the DMV many years ago, but I've always carried a piece "The Nation's Capital" in my heart.
The majestic sounds of the Blackbyrds are still incomparable!! These songs bring back the nostalgia of growing up in the concrete inner city jungle. The soundtrack of the urban life of the 70s & 80s! Nothing else compares!! Mysterious Vibes performance was so immaculate! Please come back & play “Love Has Come Around”! 👑 🐐 🔥 🔥🔥🔥🔥
IM GOING TO REPLAY THIS A THOUSAND TIMES; WATCH!!!!!!!!! NOOCHIE had many of the finest musicians, artist from a generation so far but the BlackByrds may just have reached the top. Solute!
@ 1974 we drove up to Vancouver BC to see The Blackbyrds and to our surprise Donald Byrd, their musical mentor was their special guest that night. We were Walking in Rhythm that day.
Manifesting a future front porch spring/summer festival where a lot of the musicians you've had on can be seen live... ❤ This so much! Front Porch still hasn't missed. 💫
Yes the BlackByrds! Bringing back memories of backyard BBQs and cruising around late night back in the day. RIP keyboardist Kevin Toney and the legendary Donald Byrd.
Ol skool DC sound. Thanks for sharing DC musical history. I remember listening to the Blackbyrds cruising through Rock Creek Park. They still sound good.
This moves to my 2nd favorite performance behind the BYB one. Dope to see some of the original members of the group performing along with recent additions.
This is perfection. One of THEE sharpest music groups ever to exist. The energy.. the frequencies and the mysterious vibes!! So happy to see this after work!! Gotta do my chitown step to this one here! 💯👌🏾
This is amazing. I still listen to the Blackbyrds regularly. Dreaming of You is my all-time favorite by them. And Flying High. I appreciate this live performance. 👍🏽💯
Just saw Lakeside with Sinbad from about 2008 a few days ago, and they were still throwin' down also. So glad to see the Blackbyrds still bringin' it like they used to-they sound so good still and it makes me appreciate the good ol' days even more-I miss the good ol' days. The new artists are definitely missing something in their music and I believe it was God's will that things come to what they have, I'm sorry to say, but we were blessed to have grown up in this period(1950s to the 1980s)and be exposed to and enjoy so many great musical artist-like the Blackbyrds! 4-12-24.
It is approximately 3:08 am. This just appeared in my timeline today, 4/12/24. The moment I saw "The Blackbyrds," already knew it was going to be a 🔥 🔥 episode!! Got me in my bed dancing!😂 Hearing this is a blessed privilege!! I'm over 45 years old & grew up on this type of music.Thank you, thank you, thank you for putting this together Noochie!!❤❤
Although not a super singer band, they play a part in why I've been singing professionally for 40 years. At 63 years old, strong as ever with a nice resume. Definitely an influence. Smooth as silk.
This group is FIYAH. Been in the business 50 years. Sound like they are new on the music scene. If this LEGENDARY GROUP is in your city please go check them out. You will have a great time. #BLACKBYRDS50YEARS OF BEINGLEGENDARY.
Front porch, you guys out did yourself with this one. This is EVERYTHING! I wish it was an hour longer. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 RIP Allan Barnes and Kevin Toney 🙏🏽
Wow ... Classic Blackbyrd's music (beautiful memories of hanging out listening to uplifting music with friends - made me hit dat subscribe button) !!! Shout-out to Mr. Donald Byrd (enjoying dat every lasting life). ♦️♦️♦️ 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
I want to move into the house next door! This Great Music is Therapy and Healing! Thank you Sir Donald Byrd for the Blessing through music you have given us and the Beautifully Blessed Blackbyrds! 🙏🏽❤️💯👊🏽
I'd like to see a line-up of these talented musicians as well. I swear I've seen the female vocalist on a Chic Live concert DVD from around 2004, but without names, I can't be sure.
Wow... I connected with this before they started playing. I grew up listening to DB & the Blackbirds, and I still have all of the albums. Thank you for bringing back original music for the people.
This is so fire!!! 🔥🔥🔥 I grew up as a child listening to my daddy's music. He had a massive collection and he loved The Blackbyrds and Donald Byrd was one of his favorites. He led me to love jazz and they are the epitome of masterful, amazing music. This music will live on for decades, the afterlife and beyond. They are the Gods of this unique sound. 💛✨🥰🤌🏾
Thank you, NOOCHIE for showcasing one of my favorite bands of all time! The Blackbyrds were an integral part of my growing up in the 70s. I absolutely love this band and their music!
Donald Byrd & The Blackbyrds...straight up with no chaser!! This is already a "classic" that you'd put on for the cookout or spade table! It's really nice to see how Fayetteville NC is represented through mentorship thru the DMV's homegrown"Blackbyrds" RESPECT!!
