Hats off, and MUCH respect to the investigators and NOPD whom do the best they CAN do in our beautiful New Orleans, with what they’ve got!!! (Police shortage of enormous proportion.) WE, the GOOD citizens, GOT YOUR SIX!!! 🙌💯
Do the best with what they’ve got??? “Police Shortage” as if there just aren’t police officers wanting to do the job anymore? They are doing the job - just not in Nola - they are going to other parishes for less pay and less headache in droves instead of staying here where we have clowns in the DA and mayors office totally undermining what the brave men and women of the police force do. Who could blame them? Do some research! SSA consultants did an exit survey of NOPD officers leaving the force in 2022 - the number one reason of officers leaving? Most people would prob say pay - but the NOPD recruitment packages are as competitive as what is being offered to NYPD recruits - it is a very robust offering that incentivizes staying on the force long term. With strong upfront pay comparatively to other major US cities. So what is the reason? What do war zone American cities like NOLA, New York, Baltimore, Chicago have in common? Obama era DOJ executed consent decree practices that are either still in force or have yet to be rolled back in practice - that effectively hamper the ability of officers to do what they should be doing in these violent cities: ARRESTING CRIMINALS! They are hamstrung by overly punitive disciplinary administration, lack of leadership, lack of support from management (THE MAYOR) and an overall feeling that “getting the bad guy OFF THE STREETS” isn’t what it used to be… why? Well, you have an embattled Democrat district attorney that ran on no cash bail and letting repeat criminals walk free. It wasn’t until he and his own mother were car jacked that we saw car-jacking subside somewhat. We have an embattled Mayor. The Mayor is the direct charge to the police force and the chief. She sets the tone. the mandate. The mission statement. She’s an abysmal failure by nearly every metric. Criminals and naive or rather misinformed people want to act like police are “the problem” when the reality is staring everyone in the face who is ready to receive it. It is a deep issue of culture that begins in the home with a solid familial base and unit. We literally see the same stories week after week, year after year and everyone acts like there is this great mystery! Turns out having pro-criminal legislation and elected officials, pro-crime anti-prison policy in the DA office, a police force void of any real leadership or guidance from the Mayor and people calling for defunding the police is a VERY VERY BAD WAY TO DETER CRIME!
The only way to prevent these type of crimes is to stop letting these criminals out on bail when they know that they are a threat to the community. I bet it’s the usual suspects with long rap sheets and been in and out of the criminal system justice for years.
