Did this last week and had a bit of brain fog and went up left at 7:30. Pretty sketchy. I knew it was supposed to be quartz but somehow convinced myself it was better than going straight over.
Did this a few weeks ago when it was really wet, we missed the left turn and ended up going up the gully where it got to steep and ended up going across on to the right hand side where some chaps where rock climbing. Scary stuff😅 😅😅
Enjoyed that. I've only climbed that one in the dry and I think I went further right at the top over an awkward slabby boulder. I've also climbed Nor nor buttress on the RHS of that gully but that's hard. Bastow Buttress is a cracking route - you'd enjoy that I think (in the dry )
It's a great route, done it before in the dry and it was much easier on the lower section which was greasy after some rain a few hours earlier. BB is on my to-do list which is quite long atm and I'm repeating routes I've done many times before but this time with a GoPro. Hopefully I'll get a few more routes bagged before the year end.
20:40 is roughly where you join the gully via the EFT, though that first boulder section is tricky and I struggled! 🤣 Climbing out of the notch is a little awkward too with some slippery rock when wet, but almost immediately after that the scrambling becomes pleasant and easy again all the way to the summit
