Lol..ok..well when you get rich, come to Washington nc and get with reggie fountain..he can hook you right up with a powerboat of your dreams..fountain powerboats..you wanna go fast they gotcha..
Sst Pilot So, where do you get JP-7 fuel, since it was developed for engines such as the Pratt & Whitney J58.. (the engine in the SR-71 Blackbird) 2nd, how would you run it in an engine designed to run on gasoline?
My oldest brother had a go fast for a couple of seasons in the late 80's, not like that, just a single hemi with a turbo prop, damn loud, sounded awesome, but all it did was go fast. We all had cruisers thanks to my dad, and that brother went back to a SeaRay, more practical, but still pretty damn loud and fast.
This reminds me of my boat, except mine is only 18 feet long, and only has a 14hp motor, and is bare aluminum, and has a trolling motor on the front. But other than that...
Why do people sarcastically comment on usage of fuel. These guys own multi million dollar boats. I'm certain they don't give a rats ass how much fuel they buy. They have the cash. Geeez.
Actually they say that once you start adding up insurance, mooring, storage and slip fees, maintenance and repairs not to mention fuel and other operating expenses even a multi-millionaire can find himself years later shelling out several times more than he expected and end up selling to cut his losses.
Available in twin or quad engine applications in gas or turbines. Despite it's mass the 5200 runs impressive speeds and can still flatten the seas when the water gets rough. From Nor-Tech's own site. Also if you look at the site and this boat you can clearly see the exhaust lines from the forward engine running beside the stern engine on ONE side, meaning there are QUAD ie four engines, each one is twin turbo 1350 x 4 + 5400HP. Not very hard to figure out.
only a certain few get to enjoy these luxuries, the creator of the universe, really want all his children to enjoy these as well as others things to the full,we were really made to enjoy life
Cooles Boot ,cooler Sound macht weiter so .Absoluter Hammer. Meine schnellste Powerbootstour war auf dem Bodensee in Germany mit einem Einrumpfboot 3 x 250 PS Honda 150 km/h
If you live in se florida for example, Bimini is 60 miles away, Nassau is 190 miles away. So, something like that. No different then going down the freeway, except these arent employees of mcdoanlds.
hilarious comment. and considering how much top fuel pro dragsters use just on a 1/4 mile run with a single engine I'm going to assume the fuel tanks on these boars are rather large and that the boats pick up speed once the tanks half empty
The 1350 engine package is twinturbo charged, so by "quad turbo" he means that there's two 1350's in the boat which makes sense considering the 5200 is about the same width as their 48' which has room and mounts for two engines. The poster of the video confused what NorTech meant by "quad turbo" assuming it meant the boat had four engines. Also this boat was listed on offshoreonlydotcom and you can see pics of it having two drives not four. Still, insane boat from an awesome company.
The only problem here is most likely those two kids in the back haven't got a clue what it takes to get to this point. Otherwise, crank up the power, faster across the water and to hell with the carbon foot print. Go, Go, Go !
is it just me or does anyone else think that even though this awesome machine has over 5000 hp, they still dont seem as fast as the hp figures. I thought something with that much power would be able to go a lot faster.
what happens when they hit rough waters in a catamaran? like they usually do in offshore formula 1 races? how many gallons an hour? sorry i meant how many barrels an hour
Some of the comments here are ridiculous. Who cares if turbines are faster. It's the cool factory here. Turbines were cool back in the day when Arneson and Al Copeland were the only ones with them. Now there's a new generation of people who only know about these things because of the internet and they just don't get what it's all about. Turbines sound like crap and lack the soul of a big block go fast boat. It's sort of like high powered Nissan GTRs. Fast, but no soul. 4 big blocks in one boat, now that's bad ass!
Big, to you gas turbines sound like crap, to me they are almost the ultimate engine on a boat (the only thing better would be a steam power plant with a nuclear reactor) Just hearing a large gas turbine spooling up to full rpm is magic to my ears, and when you have 4 of them at flank speed.. ahhhh..
What's COOLER than a Big Block Chevy in a Boat?Answer; 4 Super Charged big block Chevys, 1350hp times four in one boat, now that's bad ass!A good estimator of volume to power is approximately 10 hp per gallon or 2.64 hp per liter. For example if your pump flows at 50 gph it should be able to support a 500 hp engine (50 x 10 = 500) or 5400hp/10=540 gallons per hour.More practically, experience has taught me; One Super Charged Chevy Big Block Burns 200 Gallons per hour x 4=800 Gallons per hour.
FOR SALE Business Property Marysville, WA What's cooler than 5400 hp from 4 engines.. how about 747,700 hp from one gas turbine.. GE 9HA.02 Harriet.. (the most powerful internal combustion engine on the planet) if you use the exhaust from it to boil water and spin a steam turbine it generates 2,223,415 hp.. from ONE Gas Turbine!!
i still have a dream of repowering a Fountain or Velocity or??? with 800 hp 4.0L or 4.2L Auid bi-turbo V8's ..i'm an Audi guy ..i have an RS6 with a 4.2 bi-turbo cosworth built engine ..tiny , light motor , 575 HP and 610 tq with a tune and other minor mods ..peak tq is from 1700-5600 rpm's , sips fuel in an automotive application and i have 167k miles and never any issues .. small motors with a lot of punch ....even a triple 5cyl set up like engines used in the TTRS and RS3 can get 800-900 HP out of them ..the big american big blocks are fun ..but it would be a cool project using lighter.smaller powerplants that dont need a rebuild so often and a little better on fuel .. i need sponsors for my dream though :(
The cost to fill it with fuel would be ridiculous!!! Maintenance on it wouldn't be a problem for me as I could never afford to fill it up to run the thing in the 1st place!!! It would get an 1/2 hour of run time a year if I had to pay the fuel bill for it!!!!
Everett Cox true.. I was thinking of two of the Arleigh Burke destroyers I served on, with their 7 gas turbines each (4 main engines LM-2500's and 3 generators, Allison 501 KH) they are incredibly reliable, having ran millions of hours in US Navy service on various warships since the 80's.
"Despite it's mass the 5200 runs impressive speeds and can still flatten the seas when the water gets rough." Doesn't anyone read the fucking info under the video anymore?
savagele With all that wetted area, it's never going to be that fast, and it's efficiency is going to really suck. It's also going to have a "stuck to the water" feel, instead of a nice, free, aired out ride quality. Cats are MUCH more comfortable when they get up on the tunnel and ride on the air. It just looks way too heavy for it's size and power.
There is no way $850000 buy that boat brand new keep in mind folks it is 52' long I own A388 skater with twin 1350s all options brand new list price 1.2 million
