Great music, I've been a Neil Young fan forever. Not too many songs that I don't like. I was lucky enough to be introduced to Neil's music in Ardmore, OK in about 1970, By 1971 I was for sure hooked. I am now 55years of age and I can still relate to his songs. He sings about "The Real Life" doesn' need smoke and mirrors. It was cool hearing Nora Jones due one of the many favorite songs.
Norah Jones is a star shining in a sky where some days few stars shine.....she takes my breath away....gives me hope..... Listened to her father in Laguna Beach cottage 1967 with falcon outside my window lighting a path to other world
Norah Jones has such a beautifull voice and the humbucker guitar and chorus back up singer gives you the feeling that you would love to know these people on a personal level or to see them live
She is awesome ! I never knew she played guitar too. I love Neil Young but she sang that song much better than he did. thanks for posting this. i love it !
Amen! Assume you've "discovered" her now. What also amazes me is her keyboard playing (esp. on her first album) - very distinctive. I can pick her out as a background player on others' songs. And her voice...
I notice a constant reference to her father, Ravi, and the assumed influence, but I recall once reading they are estranged and spent very little time together as Norah's parents are divorced. Maybe the musical gene played dominant? In any case, I really enjoy her talent and presentation.
@TheGrandTetones Thanks, I'll check it out (the cover). I never heard Pocahantas until more than twenty years after Neil recorded it, and it knocks me out. I have Cherokee and Blackfoot ancestors and wish I could roam the Eden that was America back before the Europeans clearcut it.
Good harmonizing, and how it slows down for the chorus is neat. I like it all but the little walk (back) down... seems a little too pat.. especially I guess after all the years of hearing the song w/out it.
I've been so out of it, lost touch. Since when does Norah play the guitar and not the piano? Oh, Norah, when will you love me, tomorrow? Even though you're not a green eyed (emerald) creole from the Louisian swamp, I think I love you (Partridge Family).
@brianallancobb European s have a 5000 year disconnect w/a "belonging to the land" identity. Given another 1000 years, i'm sure the Mayans,Aztecs,& Incas or others would have developed gunpowder, advanced navigation, shopping malls and superhighways & cut the trees and scarred the land for resources to feed their vying empires.Should have come together to buy weapon technology from someone w/ the mountains of gold they had instead of selling out as mercenaries to destroy each other.
