Nord C2D jam session with Pierre Swärd and Joey DeFrancesco 

Joey is in a different universe.

Pierre just gets faster and faster......by the end of his solo he's rushing like a mad man.......

I don't know anybody that can hold a candle to Joey D in this world...the undisputed Hammond King, in my opinion.

Joey is the Franz Liszt of Hammond organs. And I meant ‘is’. He may be gone now, but he’s still jamming like a top in heaven.

Fantastic playing. Love the way Joey is always looking to the other musician, not the keyboard, and gets really authentic B3 sounds from the C2D, particularly nice was the perc solo. Just goes to show its the player that really counts most .As much as I would love to get a C2D. I'll stick to my C1 and try to do more practice. :-)

It is "interesting" (saddening) to read the comments about a man whom I happen to know very well. Pierre is one of the humblest and most supportive organ players I know. He always has time for a chat on organ related matters. My simple question to you who has made negative comments about Pierre's playing is - how many of you, if any, would have the nerve to play alongside Joey? Knowing that it would be filmed and put on youtube for ya´ll to start firing away with your comments.I would personally not have the guts neither do I have the skills of neither gentlemen heard on this video. I usually opt to not comment less I have something constructive to bring to the person(s) who put the video up. It is so easy to fire away at someone who you do not have to face in person. But be assured, you can still hurt some here even if it is a virtual place. I am just happy that two the organists that I admire, for their own unique qualities, are playing Nord C2d´s. I am proud of the fact that a small company of dedicated people can give the big companies a run for their money.

a pleasure to watch and listen. Joey is ahead harmonically and echniclly , but both just groove. That's why I like playing my Hammond.

Pierre is beyond my talent level, and is hip... but it sounds like he's playing a Casio. Doesn't change settings or rock the expression pedal...Joeys understanding of settings and volume dynamics are half of the art...

Sward always wants the solo, but is repeating the same licks over and over. He gets intimidated towards the end where he starts a 'trading of fours' with Joey but can't hang once Joey just starts to get warmed up....Hah! #teamjoey

Pierre is sure a good player and it seems that he is not able to play walking bass - Joey is the boss.

The thing about jazz organ (and I love it-really!) is that after twenty minutes or so, it starts to seem repetitive.

lotsa negativity in here; personally, i think that the mic placement may have made Sward seem louder, or the different cabinets. it makes it sound like his accompanying parts are stepping on DeFrancesco's toes. The clue that makes me think this is that DeFrancesco's solo tones sound like they're very far away. My point just being that what people are complaining about may really be more of a technical difficulty than anything else

I don't like Hammond organ duets. Joey's is light years ahead of most any organist and is just being gracious here. Especially when they are jamming on the blues.

As a piano player just beginning organ, I would sure love to know the drawbar settings.

One thing is for sure. Whatever they played here, Joey played with such an ease which I enjoyed by listening to his solo and watching him play and I had had the feeling that he does on the keyboard what he wants. Compared to him Pierres solo seemed to be too forced, lacked ease, seemed to be too complicated, too complex, lacked the swing. And it seemed that pierre doesn't know how to play the scales up and down so fluently like joey.

Did this plyers know about each other before this? Perhaps also thats relavent in this experiens🤔.

I'm don't know so much of any of this players more than that Swärd visit my school with his trio in the yearish 04/05 . Seems like it's some kind of fanatic fan cult for the joey guy. Swärd didn't play bad at al and do not deserve this fan cult hate. Perhaps he didn't either knew that this joey was a holy lord. Btw shouldn't this just be a fun jam? Seems like a lot cult members was jealous that they did not jam there etc. Perhaps Swärd could play a bit more mellow sometimes but he was nott as crappy as the comments tell.

Ok, quite bluntly... Who is this Pierre Swärd? He can't solo, he can't accompany, he can't sit on tempo nicely (constantly pulling faster)... Why is he sitting in a jam with Joey de Francesco? My judgement would be less harsh if at least he had the humility to shut up for a second and listen, but he doesn't...

Pierre needs to hit the woodshed before he sits with Joey again.

DeFransesco has technique and the famous american arrogance. Swärd has the soul.

They both played too fast and repetitive. Scale running..etc..Less is more but I understand they're trying to show off.
