Nord Grand 2 | Riding the Presets at NAMM 2024 

Cool. I have never tried their Nautilus. Would like to someday for sure.

Sure, memory is a factor.

They do to a high degree. But I do find a sllight difference in feel - probably due to the factors that you menttion. It may be hard to transfer that into an audio demo.

If you mean the brands’ own demos, then no. They have been beautified for sure. But that said, I really do like this one :)

The Nord Monitor speakers makes it sound the best - closest to these demo sounds.

I actually did like the new Kawai keys. The samples are the same as in Stage 4 and Electro 6, I think, but the presets are not identical (I think). But sure with the same basic sample material, I guess you can create the same sounds across several Nord instruments.

The keyboard feels really good.

@@BloodHassassinI did try the nord grand (1) last year at NAMM, but they only had the 2 at the show tjis year. So a comparion on ‘key feel’ with a year in between wouldn’t be fair (or accurate).

My guess - and it is just a guess - is that the nord grand is meant for the high-end home piano market. I think this due to the (optional) speakers to match, which I guess no one would ever bring to a gig.

@@SoundsLikeThisGear I'm sure you're partly right, although it's bright Red colour cuts against that. You can buy a keyboard cover anyway. With its flat top and 45 degree board viewing it's ideal for a live gig with another Nord (or other synth) on Top. Especially for someone like, say Adele, mostly Piano stuff, and a bit of Wurli. It's potentially my ideal gig set up... but obviously too much to carry, and expensive!

En fait, si tu aimes pas trop le synthé, le Grand 2, avec sa mécanique Kawaî me paraît le plus approchant d'un piano !! J'ai un Nord Stage 4, quand je joue sur un vrai piano, il me faut un temps d'adaptation, j'essayerai le Nord Grand 2, possible que je change. Mais je ne joue pas en groupe, sinon le Stage 4 serait parfait. Je changerai surtout pour le toucher😂❤😊

I wanted a Stage 4 88 just because it does more, but I have a ton of synths and don't need the organ section, so Grand 2 made more sense. The big obvious difference is Grand 2 has improved Kawai keybed and way better action compared to Stage 4. Grand 2 also just looks like it'd sit in your living room and kinda heavy but they're same weight almost. Why get a porsche when snow tires on your toyota get you to the mountain.

@@SophiedeJong-dy3fe If you have the synths and don't need the organ section of the Stage, definitely go for Nord Grand. I am actually a bass player and last weekend I had a few gigs and the keyboard player actually had a Nord Grand (1), as he never does synth and when it comes to organ has has a Hammond B3 with a Leslie. A few weeks before that, I had a gig where another keyboard player brought a Nordstage 4. Since I am such a nice person, I offered to help load/unload both, and the Nord Grand felt much lighter and while it has that slanted panel design, which I agree makes it look like a home setup, it wasn't strange to have on stage at all.
