I just noticed it's a vid two weeks ago, meaning I kinda catch up your vids yay! As I also discovered your channel really recently and was diving into all the vids in the past, I 'm so glad to be on one in 2024! Thanks, your vids are so helpful for me to grasp Nord that I bought just because it's red. Now it's way more than just red haha thanks again!
Hi Douglas, I just recently discovered your channel. Your Nord stage videos have been very helpful for me. My church just bought a nord stage 4, and none of us piano players knew how to use it. Looking forward to learning more from your future videos on the stage 4. God bless!
@@DSoundman the challenge was … Does your “foot switch” pedal switch the Layer II ON and OFF when pressed, ie. binary. vs. “Switch on when depressed and held”. If the former (the challenge) exactly what sort of pedal was it, make and model?
Last time I tried this (with the triple pedal), it would only switch to Layer II ON when the pedal was pressed, and OFF when the pedal was released. I read that they added an extra option so you can do either method with update 1.20, but I haven’t tried it yet.
Nice organ sounds, have you ever heard of the South African sound called Itende? If so do you know how to get that sound on your Nord? I see they mostly play Roland’s when playing Itende but I have a Nord 6D
I just purchased the stage 4 and need to have a strong / full pipe organ sound for worship. I can't seem to put one together. Any help is appreciated..Rick
I don't have a Nord...yet. But I'm following your channel to get to know them. Can you tell me if when you initialize the sounds, do you lose the factory presets? Thanks.
Awesome, thanks for the follow! Anything in a stored state is unaffected when you initialize. So no, any of your saved programs or factory programs will not be lost. The only exception would be the 8 live mode presets. Live mode presets instantly save any change, so if you initialized while on one of the 8 live mode presets, it would initialize that preset and instantly save it.
As sound-man clearly explained - but also, everything can always be “re-downloaded” from the Nord Website, as well as of course a master reset. To my utter amazement however, I have loaded just a dozen new sounds, and already all the “spare “ memory has gone. I’ve started to delete many sounds as I believe there’s no alternative. When you download certain sounds eg. And older Rhodes for a new, better one, (Stockholm), then some of these preset mixes lose an instrument. So don’t work. Again, no fix. I’m aware of. Have had various boards though, I’d buy this again in a heartbeat !
Hey John, one tip just in case you don’t know is that within the Nord Sound Manager software, you can click on any of the sounds/samples and see what programs they are used on in the right-hand panel. Before you select the sound, you can right-click on it and relink the programs to a different sound so when you delete the sound it doesn’t leave empty holes in your or the factory saved programs. I’m probably too late with this, but hope it helps a little! 😄
Good questions. I left everything factory in the B3 organ model after the initialize, but here are the settings. I’ll put them in the description of the video as well: Tone-Wheel Type: Vintage 1, Click Level: Normal, Speaker Type: 122, Rotor Speed: Normal, Rotor Acceleration: Normal, Horn Speed: Normal, Horn Acceleration: Normal
My Church is finally able to purchase a Nord, though they might can only afford the Stage 3... is Stage 3 still a good option or is it worth saving for the 4?
I still think the Stage 3 is great! I talk a bit about it in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-L42K6a3BiBk.htmlsi=PvMPwcBdpPwoJjm9
Yes I have the NS3 compact, and I love bringing it to my church. The only thing I want to note to you on the Nord (and other nord modes) is that if you are going mono, you will lose a lot of quality compared to going through stereo. The Yamahas all have a premium quality type audio (forgot what it was called) compared to the Nord, plus they now have balanced XLR outs compared to the NS3 which is unbalanced TRS (so if you can, check with your sound guy, and see if you can go through stereo).
